132 Tasting Notes
I didn’t have time to make My Morning Mate this morning (again!) so I went with what I had at my desk, which was this. Which I enjoy, but usually in the afternoons…it doesn’t really do the trick for me to have this as my morning cup, but it was all I had at my desk today.
My order of this just came in this past weekend and last night I finally got around to opening up the box and steeping some of this tea! This time when I made it, it didn’t come out as strong and flavorful as it did the last time with my sample so I am thinking I either need to add more tea or try a higher temp. (I did this steep around 180 I believe). Or it could have just been user error all around, but still it was yummy, just not that yummy strong honey/vanilla taste that I remember last time; I will try again soon!
Preparation
I had this last night and it’s just so wonderful and calming! On a saddening note though I only have enough left for one more cup…if that! :-( oh well, I have a tin of Rishi jasmine pearls and several samples of jasmine pearls that I have tried, but none of them compare to the lovely Teavana ones! That’s ok though because I tried a sample of Adagio’s jasmine #12 pearls and if I remember correctly trey were just as good as or if not better than Teavana’s jasmine pearls… So I see this as an excuse to buy a pouch from Adagio :-D I’ll just need to order them fast since I can’t go too long without my jasmine pearls!
This does not taste like coffee, nor feel like coffee…just FYI for people out there that may think it is supposed to mimic the taste/feel of coffee. Now with that being said, this tastes sweet, chocolately, and like a spiced orange peel… those are the biggest flavors I am getting from this tea. I think this tea is a lot better with some milk added to it, to smooth out the edges a bit.
Preparation
I had this again today while I was showing a friend of mine Teavana. So without being rude I took the sample that the sales lady gave us and by knowing that I really didn’t like this the last time I figured it would be the same this time as well. WRONG! It still tastes like red hots or something similar to that, but I could taste other notes and the tea as well. Perhaps my palette is maturing or either I am going crazy? Either way, I liked it so much that I purchased this blend to take home with me. So I will bump my rating up quite a bit since I enjoyed this so much this time around!
I got a sample of this in the mail today with my Lupicia magazine! Oooh durian… I have never tried durian fruit before, frankly because I was scared to death of the horrible stories I have heard of it having a very pungent, nasty smell so I have never bothered trying it! Getting this tea in had me scared, I thought I would open the pack of tea to smell dirty feet or something LOL, but it was actually pleasent and sweet smelling…smelled like a fruit of some sort…I guess a durian since it is a durian tea! Haha. The green tea was present as well and was enjoyable; I did have this iced and my toddler liked it as well. However, I wouldn’t buy this for me because I have other fruity green teas that I simply like better, but this one is pretty darn good!
@Lori – That is what I have heard!!!! The tea doesn’t taste bad or smell bad…it’s fairly sweet and pleasent! Maybe they’re heavily sugared pieces of durian?! LOL
