Are you really considering purchasing it!??! Haha, I want a sorapot, sorta, not really. I’m going to get someone to get it for me, ohhh that’s what friends are for :D
I’m wanting a tea mill. If I can find a cheaper one, I’m definitely gonna go cheaper. Someone suggested a spice mill that’s a heck of a lot cheaper from a place that specifically deals w/ Chinese products, not Japanese- so that’s 2 strikes against that one. I’ve gotten so burned buying things online in the past I want to make sure I’m going to get exactly what I want even if it costs $290.

Oh no on the apple dish detergent! My only thought would be vinegar, but then you might need something to get the vinegar taste out! And yeah, C&J = eeeevil. And I like chai (but dread thinking of this is chai… I will just think of it as ‘awful’).
That apple detergent is evil! So half of my lid smells like chai now… the other half smells like detergent. o.O Vinegar would kill me, I hate the taste / smell. I heard vinegar would do the trick. I think I’m going to make some jasmine tea and soak the lid in it! Actually… hey dragon pearls….. xD
I have put some Arm & Hammer in a former EG tin (with a plastic lid) after a good soaping to soak up the residual smell. It can take a little time and I don’t know if you’d be willing to wait, but if the jasmine doesn’t work, you could try that!
Did you mix it with boiling hot water? I let it soak for like 30 mins, I’ll have to try to see if the smells out tomorrow. I mean eventually the smell will disappear, but for now it still annoys me =/
The lid smells like SPICES! AHH, the bottom of the lid anyways.

My first experience with a while tea tasted like cooked asparagus or soybeans. Both of which I like, but only when it is actual asparagus or soybeans, not tea. So yeah, that totally scared me off whites for a while! But I look forward to trying this!
Mmmm, this white tasted really good to me! There’s a nice sweetness to this one. Nectar-like, I think. Glad you liked this one too!

I have this one too. It looks (and even kinda tastes) coffeeish after just 15 sec! how much (if any) are you increasing your steeping time for additional infusions?
If it tasted like coffee, I wouldn’t be able to finish this cup. I can’t stand coffee. I’m doubling my steep time per infusion. 15 second, 30 second, now 1 minute. The smell isn’t as strong on the third steep, I wonder about the taste.
Yes and no. I mean it depends which tea. If it’s short I double the time. White’s take 7 minutes, I don’t double those. I just leave it for the same amount of time. Maybe a minute or two more sometimes. I mean I generally taste it as I go. I pour a bit out and taste it if it’s strong enough.
Third steep is interesting. It’s not the same feeling, it’s a bit more bland / watery. I did 1 teaspoon / 8 oz of water.
I’ve been told to back off on that 7min steeping time. And it’s worked for me. The only 2 I’ve tried that w/ is Adagio’s Jasmine Silver Needle and White Cucumber.
Den’s tea sampler, only $3 (shipping cost / you get it back on your first purchase) and you get 4 packs of 10g samplers and 2 teabags. =D
I’ve only really had GM and Adagio white tea and both of them have labels as to how long you should steep. Then again all companies generally tell you, so I just follow those directions.
I’ve only had Adagio’s whites as well. This is one time I don’t take the company’s advice. I was leary to veer from that (mainly because I knew little about whites), but I’m glad I finally did.
I haven’t exactly figured out white tea’s taste. It’s so subtle that I can barely detect it. I have to try GM’s plain White Tea soon so I can get a better understanding of how White Tea is suppose to taste. Ha, that’s kind of funny. I was flipping through GM’s White Tea packages and it seems the steep time is 2-4 minutes.
@Ricky, my tastebuds like that range. I start infusing at 3 min. Maybe I’ll try even less some time. Let me know how your white tea journey goes:)
@Cofftea – are you sure the Den’s bags are for 12 – 16oz cups? It’s been a while since I’ve gotten their sampler so I could be remembering wrong or they could have changed their bag sizes, but I thought their stuff was usually for the 4 – 6oz range (since that’s the more typical size used for Japanese teas… though I think Lupicia uses about 3oz)?
“are over-sized and can be used to brew cups from 12oz to 16oz” is a direct quote from their website.
You’ll see tealogs when I begin my journey with white tea :D. I thought they were used for a normal size cup as well. Ummm, I brewed it in about 10oz of water.

Haha, it’s okay, you have Lady Grey. I’m almost done with my GM sampler! I think I’m 1/3 of the way there! Look what you did, now I’m looking into H&S. Free shipping + $5 off coupon… so tempting….
Wheee! I’m seriously so happy that you enjoyed all of it, though, for the most part. I would have been super, super sad if you had really disliked most of the box.
H&S sent me 4 free sachets with my order: two of EG Imperial and two of Bangkok. We’ll see how that goes! For $25.20 (I used a 10% off coupon, I think), I got 14 samples, which I thought was pretty decent. Considering that their samples are all ~3-5 cups and each is $2 (regardless of quality – their highest Assam is still $2!). So yeah, it’s nice. :)
I wish there was a way to just list all the $2 tea. The shopping experience wasn’t fun at all. My cart is currently at $40! I was just browsing through every section and adding stuff to my shopping cart. I have to review it later and remove some items. I was mostly in the green tea section. I don’t know, Assam, Keemun and Ceylon just aren’t for me. Even A&D’s Ceylon, I mean it’s good, but I’d still prefer green over it.
That’s fine! We’ll have to compare orders after you’ve put yours in! I got a bunch of whites, since I seem to really enjoy them.
Evil! I need to figure out a way to make loose leaf at work. I might have to invest in some filter bags, so I can clean up my mess quickly. Umm satchels might be a good idea.
YAY HARNEY! Glad you liked this one!
Excellent! This is such a solid tea for me, I really enjoy it when I need something closer to basic. I’m not sure what’s left of your sampler, but have you tried it at a lower temperature? I’m curious to hear what you think of it there.
I think I have enough for one cup left! Guests come over and I don’t know which tea to offer them! I ended up just making this tea. I’ll definitely have to try it at a lower temperature. It’s such a delicious all around tea :D
Indeed! I bought a big ol’ tin of it.
Haha, I plan on it, once I consume all my tea. I have way too much at the moment.
