Mmmmm, thank you Fusion Teas Opened this bag up, was hit with the actual, real life smell of chocolate cake. Yum. The smell of the dry leaves was strong and wafted all around my desk. The tea itself was very mobile as it brewed, little flecks floating around everywhere in my ingenuiTEA. Tastes really lovely, but the chocolate seemed to be more muted while the honeybush grew stronger as it brewed. Still, super excellent tea.
Nom, thanks Fusion Tea! Smells really strongly spicy, in a lovely way! Lots of exciting pieces in the blend. There’s melty, caramelly looking stuff in the used leaves. Mmmmm. This is going to sound super weird, but the smell of the cup reminds me kinda of….pipe smoke? An interesting and complex cup o’tea.
Fancy teas make me nervous. And I guess I consider anything that isn’t black or rooibos or a teabag kinda fancy, haha. Got this from my good buddy potatowedges, who thought I would like this even though I’m not a green person. I stared at it for a while, nervous I would kill it with my roommate’s Sunbeam Hotshot water heater. The leaves are so pretty and spindly! And it smells sweet, not grass-like at all! Watching it brew. Still nervous. Leaves aren’t opening as much as I expected. Smell it…uh oh. Vegetal. Stare at the cup of liquid. Yellow, pretty, does not smell like anything. Try a sip…eh. Add some sugar, nommmm. No longer smells like green things. Smells like corn, just like the description. All nutty and toasty. Yay, teaventures!
I just wanted to add that I had this cold brewed today, and it is excellent. I think it’s much better than hot. Which is great, cause it’s sweltering here.
Got this one from Tommy the Toad in a swap. The first time I had it, my water wasn’t hot enough so the leaves didn’t quite unfurl as much as they should have. But I noticed them sort of doing the same thing this time? It was a good, smooth tea, but it didn’t really have much of a character.
I dunno why this tea is rated so mediocre-y, it’s one of my favorite decaf blends. I mean, it’s full of coconut, cardamom, pink peppercorns and cacao nibs or something! It’s kind of an ugly, murky color, but it has such a wonderful scent, like mexican hot chocolate or cake. Tasty on its own, delicious with milk and sugar.
Another sample from Emilie! Has a strong aroma of almond extract (which is intoxicatingly good to me) and I was happy to see slices of almond in the mix. First taste is something like those almond cookies you get in Chinese restaurants. And then, if you hold it in your mouth a bit, there it is! Marzipan! Really enjoying this one.
