New experiment, i decreased the steep temperature and let it sit for longer. I think i like the result. It is a lot lighter, but more creamy sweet and zero astringency. I think i came to realize that there is no actual partridge “berry” but rather the leaves of the plant.

This is probably the best flavoured tea Davids sells. Like no joke, it’s simply just really good. The smell is really buttery and creamy… and rum! (how do you get rum flavouring without actually adding rum?) There’s a generous amount of vanilla beans lying in the mix, and i think it’s what really makes this tea come through. The coconut works really well in this case too. I think I took awhile before getting to review this one, as I’ve always had it away from home, or always on a rush to bring in out on the go. Anyways, really this one needs no introduction, I think steepster has already affirmed that it shall be one of the highest rated flavoured black teas out there, I’m just going to add my vote of confidence :)

Smooth is how I would describe this. Many matcha genmaichas cheap out on the matcha and barely cover the tea at all, but this one doesn’t. There’s a nice coating of powder on the leaves and rice. Some of the rice have popped leaving a few popcorn like pieces. Colour comes out green and vibrant really nice overall.

Drinking it, it goes down very smooth. A little bit watery tasting but easy to go down. The main concern I have with this so far is that the rice far outnumbers the tea leaves in this blend. It really looks like i have a 70% rice, 30% tea leaves mix. So what happens is when you want to make some of this stuff, i don’t imagine a teaspoon of this will get you anything so I end up dumping a whole lot in just so i can get a decent amount of tea. Perhaps the tea is actually at the bottom of the bag but I can’t really tell right now, I just scoop from the top.

Other than that, you can tell this is a quality matcha genmaicha tea. There is a sufficient amount of matcha on it. Teanobi claims it has the Uji matcha it sells on this, which costs like $65/100g. So if it really is, then yay. None the less, this tea doesn’t come cheap at $25 + shipping, I paid over $30 for this bag. It really kills the matcha genmaicha I got from davids but it is expensive. To me an absolute perfect matcha genmaicha tea is one with more tea than rice, but I doubt anyone would do that. Rice is cheaper and heavier to put in a mix.

Second sample from Tea Licious. I must admit first and foremost, I am a big sucker for blueberries. Anything with blueberry is awesome for me, like literally. Blueberry pie, Blueberry smoothies, anything goes really. So going for my samples, I figured I haven’t had any white tea in awhile and BLUEBERRY woooosh, sucked right in. The last and only white tea blueberry i had was the one at Tim’s and i can safely say that tasted like crap and completely artificial.

Smelling this one, better than the tangerine white. I’m glad this tea didn’t turn blue or anything on me and that it was only flavouring inside. It’s a rather mild blueberry taste but it’s great it doesn’t completely overpower the tea. However, it’s rather mundane kinda like it’s there but not really there at all. The white tea quality is pretty average too.
Too be fair though, at this price/quality level is to be expected.

One thing that might come out of this, a somewhat increased interest to find an outstanding blueberry white tea!

So I was ordering coffee online from this Coffees of Hawaii place because of a promo they had for a certain coffee. While browsing the website, I noticed they had another little section for teas so naturally that peaked my interest, they had a few of them and I decided to give one a try. The main product is the coffee cherry, which is the berry that contains the coffee beans. I’m guessing they noticed the potential to turn waste into a product and revenue (don’t blame them) and it seemed interesting enough to try. I like cherries. I like coffee (please don’t flame me!), so hell add those two up, and my interest is peaking. This blend is one with vanilla and papaya leaf so I went with the one that sounded the most interesting/exotic.

Now onto the “tea” itself. Dark red/brown, lighter in colour than a black tea, smell a bit of leaves (banana leaves in particular, if i recall correctly). Taste, does not taste like coffee at all to me, main flavour I am getting is red bean, crushed red bean.. the type you get in like cold Vietnamese/Chinese drinks. I don’t know what papaya leaf taste like, and I don’t taste any vanilla at all. I didn’t notice any vanilla bean segments in my scoop so maybe that’s why.

Overall though, it’s interesting.. but not interesting at all at the same time. This was ok to try and it was cheap. I got it for $5 for 3oz shipped, so really no harm there. I will not try and re-steep this one, doesn’t seem like it would be any better. I actually drank this before my coffee, so I’m kinda looking forward and hoping the coffee is good.

Apple pieces, goji berries, hibiscus, honeydew cubes?
What kind of tea has apple pieces as the main ingredient? lol this one does.
It smells like candy! but after you brew it, it tastes like tart pink lemonade.. how odd.
Actually I don’t really know why Pink Flamingo and this are sold together… I think they taste almost the same, but I’m going to give Pink Flamingo the edge here. This one is chunkier, bigger pieces of everything but the taste that comes out is oh so familiar.

Now first off, it smells like candy, like literally candy. So peculiar, when it’s ready to go, it becomes… lemonade! wow. I don’t know what to say. Hmm so Pink Flamingo tastes abit better but comes in smaller chunks and tiny pieces of lemongrass and blackberry leaves and smells more like grapefruit. It’s really up to you but I find it less tart than Goji Pop. Note: I have TONS of dried Goji berries at home, so i know exactly how they taste like because I often slip some in to the tea I am brewing.

I’ve been trying to get on the website to get the picture of the tea and a description but the site has not been working for me for the past few days (I get a InMotion hosting page). Hmm to the tea itself, I’m getting that tangerine taste from Some velvet morning from Davids which isn’t quite that orangy at all to me. I think it’s mainly flavoring that’s the issue, I’m going to avoid tangerine flavored stuff from now on. I see white tea and safflowers in the mix, didn’t really taste the white tea much, just mainly the tangerine.

The description of this tea seemed like it would be one I would love… well how wrong was I. This tea.. tastes terrible. So disappointed. Tangerines I believed should taste like oranges right? Well it is supposed to taste of tangerines, orange peel, and lemongrass like which is all citrus. I doesn’t taste anything like it, something more of lemon, but herbal and bitter? and gingery? I can’t describe it, but it tastes like medicine. I think those berries inside taste really funky too. Anyways I’m pretty sure this isn’t the best hangover cure, I certainly wouldn’t use it as such! (Drink water and eat some vitamins I would advise, works best I find)

This tea is really good, personally I think its a lychee scented keemun tea. Anyways, this is close to perfect as a breakfast tea. I’ll admit, it doesn’t really taste exactly like lychees but it is really well balanced with the tea. Most likely red = keemun tea, so it’s basically a black tea. I guess it was just cooler to them to name it red. Anyways, I’m pretty sure this one will be great iced too! The overall quality of this tea is pretty decent too, there’s barely any tea dust in the bag. The taste is light but very noticeable, it doesn’t overpower and still tastes like tea. Overall, I would recommended this tea to anyone looking for a decent breakfast tea (I think MCOT has a shipping special till the end of this month)
