1113 Tasting Notes
Thanks for the sample Cameron B :)
I like the scent and taste of the violet in this tea! The sweetness is a nice touch. Like most flavored Frenchy teas, the base is mild and unobtrusive. Not bad, glad I got to try it, but probably won’t seek it out again.
This is an incredible Dancong, thanks Cheri for the sample :D
First steep had a huge amount of sandalwood, and some interesting strong cannabis notes. My first steep was a bit longer than it should have been. Very potent. Second and third steeps were still strongly sandalwood with some spice notes. 4 and 5 have developed some floral, citrus and tannins and still some spice. Crazy good dancong. It is still going strong. I wonder what steep 6 is going to bring…
Overall impression this tea gives is darkly warm :)
Preparation
I picked up 50g of this on the Anniversary Sale. I wish I had taken a gamble and ordered more than that, because this is really good!!!
I find the jasmine scent and taste nice and strong, and the sheng sweet and clear. I am interested to see how the re-steeps will taste. I am impressed though, I love jasmine green tea and sheng makes total sense to add jasmine to. Recommended!
Preparation
I picked up a few of these during the anniversary sale, and I’m glad I did!
This is nice creamy rich shu. I found no off flavors here, and I did give it a nice rinse before I drank it. I’ve never had anything with Chrysanthemum in it, but I found the flavoring similar to a rice scented tuocha I had once time. Similar but a little lighter. Good stuff!
Backlogging from the weekend…
Ugh, I really screwed up. I tried to pull up the brewing directions on my phone and it wouldn’t show properly…so I used 1tsp for 8oz. It was weak :(
I hope I have enough left in my swap sample to try again. Boo!
Awesome Cheri sent me a sample of this tea. I’ve been super curious about it but not willing to pay $$$ for shipping on only an ounce without trying it first. I really enjoy beer aged in bourbon barrels!
So anyway, this puerh. The bourbon barrel flavor is actually quite distinct! The shu is dark and rich and sweet. There is some astringency not normally present in shu, perhaps from the barrel? I actually quite enjoy this though! Still not sure if I’ll ever purchase it since there are so many shu puerhs I like, but I am SO glad I got to try it!
sample provided for review thanks Awkward Soul for hooking me up!
This is one of the tastiest green oolongs I’ve had. Super floral with buttery sweetness and total “pudding mouth” effect! If you like them green and floral this ones for you!
Thank you so much Tealizzy for this bonus sample!
I love fruity green oolongs, and apparently Lupicia is very good at them! I am drinking this hot this morning and lightly sweetened, but I bet it would be killer over ice too. Deeeeelicious and lightly floral.
This is my first tasting note from the mechanics waiting room, too, LOL. I have about an hour till my new tires will be installed so I’m chilling with a book and some nice tea :)
It took me a while to track this one down to make a tasting note on it. A favorite local restaurant/art gallery serves a few loose teas, and I always end up ordering this one if I visit in the evenings (post caffeine consumption time).
I like that it has a nice natural sweetness to it. I hate licorice but licorice root seems ok. I’ve had it in other herbals and enjoyed them :)
YES. BORING. I couldn’t think of the term to apply to white tea. But this one’s good :]
You two are crazy :-P. White teas are amazing!
