1138 Tasting Notes
Having this while I study for my 4th midterm of the term tonight. Hoping it’s not quite as licoricy and bitter as the last cup, which I didn’t even log! Steeped for only 5 mins this time tho :) please see previous note for full review.
ETA: It tastes very good tonight! Huzzah!
Preparation
So after my caffeine hiatus, I am allowing myself one cup. Stomach, please behave! I have all this lovely Verdant tea that I NEED to try!!
Anyways, onto this lovely looking tea! Beautiful! There’s so many colors and flowers and beauty present in just the dry tea! I’m super excited to try this :D. Dry smell: very floral, which I am loving right now, as it’s cold and miserably raining outside, this is taking me back to summer! Also a touch of something woodsy in there, which I like.
Wet smell is still very floral, but very light. I’m picturing a mossy covered log with flowers growing all over the place in it! I steeped this for 2 mins at approximately 175-185 degrees.
Now for the taste, ohh this is soothing. So fresh and relaxing at the same time..there’s a lot of floral taste, with maybe a hint of something a bit spicy. The aftertaste is very smooth and creamy, mmm I get sugar and yes, a bit of the vanilla I think! Some honey and orchid present as it cools too! This is a very delicious tea, and for my first time having the Silver Buds Yabao, I like it. I’m excited to try the plain silver buds to distinguish the flavor!
Overall, this is very, very nice. Warming and calming. Just what I needed today (had a rough midterm, ugh). Will definitely have to try the winter blend, as I only have enough for one more cup from this sample pack :(
Preparation
Happy early thanksgiving for the Canadians out there!! So this tea, the dry smell was not exactly what I was expecting..I’m not a huge fan of oranges, and this one was bursting with citrus scent! Couldn’t really smell anything but the oranges, but I thought hey, I won’t be too quick to judge this tea. Good thing, as this tea surprised me in a good way!
The wet smell was still orange, though not quite as potent. Also caught a whiff of cinnamon, which also isn’t really my favourite. But I held out..and the taste is quite enjoyable! The woodiness of the rooibos complements the citrus very well, and as for the chilis/peppercorns, they are there in the aftertaste! A nice warming at the back of the throat :) unfortunately didn’t get much coconut out of this cup, maybe a bit of the smoothness from it?
Overall, this tea was surprisingly tasty, after my initial worry due to the smell. I really want to drink this quite often this fall, the warming sensation along with the woody flavors just matches this time of year in my opinion! Another win for Della Terra in my books :D
Preparation
Backlog from yesterday – so my stomach has finally hit the breaking point for caffeine for a while :( so onto rooibos and herbal! Luckily my Della terra order came this week!
Mmmm this tea smells heavenly! I love lemon and cream, not much smell of rooibos either! I steeped for 5 mins, almost boiling water, wet smell was pretty delicious too.
As for taste, the rooibos seemed pretty strong at first to me, maybe because I haven’t had it in a while! But the creamy aftertaste was delectable, and the lemon was also there. I quite liked it! I added a little sugar just for an experiment halfway through, meh, I still prefer my teas plain, but the rooibos did tone down a bit with it.
Overall, a pretty nice rooibos! Made me warm and a bit sleepy, which was perfect for before bed. Delicious!
Preparation
Ahh so pleased I nabbed a bit of this before it sold out for the season! Verdant, how have I never heard of you before steepter!!!
This tea. Ahhhh. From the dry, fresh vegetal scent, to the creamy green scent of the wet leaves, to the even creamier and smoother taste, this tea is, simply put, elegant. It’s a fresh spring morning, with the flowers all covered in dew. I can taste a hint of something floral in the aftertaste, maybe a lilac or orchid, and a bit of honey in there too. So refreshing! An excellent treat for today, since it’s miserable, rainy fall weather, and supposed to snow maybe this week, blargh. This tea also made my headache diminish immensely! Ah, I’m ready for a few more infusions!
Overall, a superb tea. Verdant, you have done it again, and I am already thinking once I am out of this that I will have to get some of the autumn pick! Thank you for such a lovely tea on this cold, dreary day!
Preparation
My Verdant tea order finally came!!!! ECSTATIC!!! I wasn’t going to have a cup of caffeine tonight, but I couldn’t resist when my order showed up.
This tea is absolutely beautiful. It is so smooth, so light, so lovely. The jasmine is done just perfectly, not overly perfumed as in other varieties I have tried. Getting a sweet aftertaste in the back of my throat which I love!
Overall, I love this. So happy I got an oz of it! For my first verdant tea, I am SOLD! So excited to try the rest!
Preparation
So I have drank this oolong many, many times, and haven’t yet wrote a review on it!! Well, no time like the present.
The dry leaf smell is very vegetal and fresh smelling. I steeped this for 5 mins, at around 95 degrees C. Wet leaf: mmmmmm, soo good. A toasty veggie smell with creaminess. I love the smell of this tea! The leaves get gigantic, almost overflow my steeping basket (I used 1.5 tsps). Lovely green leaves, pretty good for re-steeping too.
As for the taste, this tea is quite delicious. A very smooth cup, with underlying creaminess and a vegetal flavor. I don’t really get any of the floral that has previously been mentioned. Mostly just smooth, buttery flavor. Slightly reminiscent of DAVIDsTEA’s milk oolong, but not quite as buttery and creamy.
Overall, I quite enjoy this oolong. It’s pretty good for a pure oolong, but I must say, the milk oolong is still my favorite by DAVIDsTEA. But as this one is nicer on the pocketbook, I will definitely drink it again and again.
ETA: Resteeped, just as lovely, a bit more mellow and not as strong but the buttery flavor almost comes out more. Very enjoyable!!
Preparation
Finishing off the last of my sample of this today because the weather exactly matches an Indian summer – about 23 degrees C! Lovely day :) Anyways, this tea, although I oversteeped it by a few minutes, is still a bit bland to me. Just needs a bit more flavor! See previous note for full review.
Ahh, and once again, I am drinking this tea..it’s so strange, I am just growing to love it, and sometimes almost crave it? It must be because of the salty flavor in it, I LOVE salt! Anyways, please see previous tea note about this one. Have had it quite a bit this week! [Also going to up rating due to increased enjoyment of this tea!]
Ahh I have been drinking tea all week, and haven’t logged anything yet! School is keeping me super busy..sigh..and even though I have already logged this tea, I still cannot get over how much I like it.
I accidently oversteeped by a few minutes (homework distracting me) but it still tastes super good! I have been having this tea before bed for the past week, and I love it! Will probably begin having it in the morning as well to take a break from caffeine.
I still love this tea. Will have to order more before DAVIDsTEA online exclusive is over! Highly recommend this tea, I keep enjoying it more and more!
Good luck on your midterm!
Thanks!! I will need it!
