626 Tasting Notes
This was part of a package sent by a friend. It sounded so good! Didn’t enjoy it much. It smelled okay. I could smell the maple and the apple, and I thought it would be a nice after supper tea to enjoy while I knitted. But the flavor was flat. There just wasn’t anything super appealing about it. Maybe it was old. it is not one I will go out of my way to have again.
It snowed Friday morning and it snowed today. It will snow again on Tuesday and on Thursday. Perfect weatehr for tea. I went diving in my tea drawer for something warm and comforting and came up with this. Boy, this one is old. The flavor may have been a little muted by age, but it is still a delightful tea. I have several new chais to try, but I feel like I should drink up some of these older teas before opening a new pouch. Now that summer is really over (probably) I will be able to enjoy hot tea in the afternoon and evening.
I finished off my packet of this tea last night. I think I liked it better than when I first got it. I am raising my rating to reflect that. Maybe I didn’t use enough in my previous cups. This time I used all of the tea that was left in the pouch, about 2 teaspoons. It was sweet and mellow and not fussy.
Fall is coming. It is my favorite time of the year. Cooler evenings means I gete to enjoy my chai teas again. Maybe I am anal or something, but I don’t generally like spice teas in the heat of summer. I’m sure we will have plenty of hot weather before fall really hits, but we have some nice days in the upper 60s and nights down to the mid 40s this coming week and I am excited!
Preparation
I decided I wanted a fruity evening tea and found this one. I was a little disappointed. I think it would have been pleasant if unmemorable except for a sour bite at the finish of the sip. I suppose a little sweetner might have helped, but I rarely use sweetner in my tea. Maybe I’ll try mixing it with a straight black for iced tea.
Oh my gosh! I just found this in the tea drawer. I thought I was out. Cold brewed a pticher of this and am enjoying it greatly. Refreshing. Usually when I make iced tea I ad a splash of lemonade to give it a little zing and sweetness. No need here.
Last night was the first time I drank tea hot in over a month. (summer sucks) I had received this as part of my tea subscription several months ago but never tried it. I bet it smells heavenly, but since I don’t have a sense of smell, I didn’t get that. I didn’t get much flavor either. Sort of picked up on a floral taste. Kinda of soapy. Which is probably me, not the tea.
So for me this one was a pass. Probably another tea lover who can taste various flavorsw would have enjoyed this one a lot.
The weather is hot. Stinkin’ hot. It’s been in the upper 80s and low 90s for the last couple of weeks, and the 10 day forecast calls for more of the same. Even worse, the lows are in the low 70s. Ugh! I really hate to be hot!
Thank God for air conditioning and iced tea. This tea was part of my June subscription packet. It is a teensy bit bitter, but that is removed by a splash of lemonade. Very refereshing. I won’t be buying any teas soon, but this is one I mi8ght get a refill on.
Preparation
It has been so blessed hot lately. Normally we have around 10 days a year in the 90s. In the first 16 days of June we’ve had 6 days in the 90s. Ugh! Even th air conditioner does completely cool the apartment on those days. But i suppose 82 is better than 92!
Made a jug of iced tea using this leaf. Wow, excellent flavor, no bitterness or astringency, and almost sweet on its own. Some straight black tea are just icky iced because they are so bitter/strong. Those benefit from a splash of flavoring or lemonade or even sugar, altho i avoid added sugar. This one is lovely. Didn’t even need additives to be drinkable.
Preparation
I made a jug of this tea iced.
Blech. I found it rather bitter. I know I’;ve had this tea before, and although I didn’t adore it, I didn’t hate it. But this batch? Nuh-uh. I was able to save it somewhat with a splash of the watermelon flavored syrup from Simplee Simple from Etsy. But I did not enjoy this one.
The syrups from that etsy shop are really quite nice. I use them in my sparkling water, in some teas, and to make flavored ice cubes. So far the raspberry is my favorite, but I still have the blackberry and peach to try. Not affiliated in any way with the shop. I just like them.
