338 Tasting Notes
It’s the third time I have this tea, and I am now giving it a perfect score! Which means it is now one of my favourite teas (the other one being MF’s Marco Polo)! I always save this tea as a special treat because I have only bought 50g… though I tend to use more tea leaves than Lupicia recommended because I prefer a more intense aroma (the tea is light so bitterness isn’t a concern).
I love everything about this tea – the bouquet aroma is enticing, the sweet flavour simply delicious. It’s a tea as beautiful as its name. :)
Preparation
The first time I tried this tea was in Berlin. It came with a huge breakfast (which was elegantly served on a 3-tier tray!). I was totally wowed by the tea when it arrived because it smelt soooooooo good. It was the aroma of freshly baked cookies! How lovely! I could sense the jealousy of my friend who ordered coffee instead :P The tea was sweet and slightly nutty – it’s like biscotti minus the calories. I personally think vanilla and rooibos is one of the best combinations in the world!
I was in a crappy mood yesterday after work and I took this tea as a form of self-medication. :P Ooooh…. just as yummy as it was! And then the world became beautiful again ;)
Preparation
I love peppermint tea, so I tend to give peppermint teas higher scores. For this peppermint from Teekanne, it should be one of those in the lower end of my “peppermint rating system”. I was alarmed when I saw the dark brown liquor cos I had never seen anything like that before! (Seriously, does anyone know why the colour could be that deep even though the ingredient was pure peppermint?) The tea was very minty – the coolness lingered on my tongue for a few seconds after each sip – but at the same time I could taste some bitterness :( Kinda weird to me… It’s not a really bad tea but it simply confused me!
Preparation
I have been madly and deeply in love with rooibos lately. Since the first time I tried rooibos, its delightful, natural sweetness has been lingering in my mind. And this cup of Une Autre Idée was a perfect answer to my persistent craving! The comforting taste of rooibos and the flavours of ripe tropical fruits (most notably pineapple and peach) made me think I was having vacation on some small Mediterranean island… I could almost see palm trees and the blue sea! I absolutely enjoyed this tea. It is now on my shopping list! :)
I had this tea just now in a patisserie, so I didn’t know how they had steeped it. The dry leaves were wonderfully fragrant – a sweet blend of fruity and floral notes!! But the liquor was less amazing. The green tea was very refreshing, and the rose flavour was pleasant too. It’s a lovely tea but… where were the fruits?? They seemed to have vanished! I imagine that the fruity flavours, if present, might take the tea to another level. Quite a pity huh. After reading the notes by other reviewers, it appears that the liquor served to me might not be an accurate reflection of the tea. Would write another note if I have the chance to taste it again later!
This is a pure black tea but it does has hints of fruit! I guess that shows the fine quality of the tea leaves and clearly differentiates it from other low quality, astringent Ceylon tea in the market. :) So far Dilmah’s tea has not disappointed me!
Preparation
Things have got better and better since Teekanne’s Fruit Selection. The smell of the dry leaves put me off because it had the intense aroma of liquorice. I was prepared for another total disaster, but a small miracle happened after steeping the tea for 5 minutes! The tea was no longer “smelly” and the liquorice had turned into subtle sweetness. It actually tasted quite nice! Peppermint gave the tea an additional touch of freshness and coolness. And oh, it’s fortunate that there was only a small amount of anise and fennel – herbs that I usually avoid. It’s a truly soothing tea… I think I am going to bed now after a cup :)
