I love golden monkey tea so I thought I’d like this one too. I do! It has that warm, malty, hints of chocolate, and spice thing going on. It has a sweetness to it that might be the champagne flavor but I feel it gets a bit lost in the base (not complaining). It’s smooth and makes a really relaxing cup. I really liked this blend :) And the tea fortune was an awesome idea! I got: “This year you will teach someone not to use the microwave for making bagged tea.” (or something like that,,,) YES! CHALLANGE ACCEPTED. I hate when people do that.
Oh yes. This tea is… perfect. I had this paired with a piece of chocolate cake and I think I’ve had enough chocolate to last me at least two days. The chocolate in this cup is so creamy and spot on. The raspberry adds a tart note to the cup. It’s… just… perfect.. Mmmmm :)
Finished this one off today! I’m happy I had a cup of tea by me today. I run my own etsy shop and a lady has been messaging me about a custom order. Turns out she’s just trying to figure out how I make it so she doesn’t have to actually buy it >:( That makes me grumpy because I make my own recipes for my own products and work really hard at it too :(
Anyways.. this tea is enjoyable. It has a sweet flavor that reminds me of peaches or apricots. There is a nice floral note and a touch of melon. Mmm :3
I bought a new pouch of this yesterday and I’m so excited. This is one of my favorite black teas! Last night I had my gaiwan tea set out so I just decided what the heck… I threw two of the little balls in my gaiwan. Here are the results:
Dry leaf:
Aroma: Deep malty, chocolate/cocoa
Appearance : Tightly rolled round balls, black with small streaks of brown/yellow
1st 205* at 1.00
Aroma: cocoa, malty, earthy
Flavor: Light, cocoa dusted earth.
2nd 205* 2.00
Aroma: Burnt sugar, malty, slightly earthy
Flavor: Sweet, raisins, cocoa, malt, slightly earthy
3rd 205* 3.00
Aroma: Dried fruit, cocoa, burnt sugar, slight maltiness
Flavor: Raisins, cinnamon, cocoa, slight malt
4th 205* 4.00
Aroma: Dried fruit, cocoa, suuper light malt
Flavor: Raisins/dates, cocoa, cinnamon applesauce
Added bit of honey to this and the fruity flavors shine a bit brighter. There is a base of smoke which is interesting with the fruit. The lemon is definitely there but the blueberry just adds a juicy/sweetness touch to it. It’s an ok blend. I’ll have to try it iced or cold brewed!
