514 Tasting Notes

This particular tea is a blend that Vampyre Tea Co is working on (isn’t available on the site just yet)and they asked me to try it and see what I thought of it. Since I’m not the biggest chai fan I wasn’t really looking forward to trying it but I told them I would. I brewed this up like you would any other chai and tried it and it was ok but that is when I got all sorts of creative.

I make myself overnight oats just about every day for the next morning so instead of adding in the normal amount of almond milk I usually do, I added in some of this chai tea brewed a bit stronger than usual. The next morning I had chai tea overnight oats. It was so good. It reminded me of cinnamon oatmeal with a spiced kick. I’ve had it now the last couple of days and I’m pretty impressed. I think if there is a tea I don’t really care for and is just so-so I’m going to start trying this to see if I can find a way to still use it.

Fjellrev

That sounds so good!

Nichole/CuppaGeek

It was. I don’t know why I had that spark of inspiration there but I’m going to try it with all my Chai and herbal teas that are just laying around right now. Might be able to make a dent in my tea stash that way.

Fjellrev

It makes so much sense to do it, too. I’ve added ground spices found in chai to my oatmeal in the past and it was great, but the overnight method must really create a lot of depth and flavour.

Ashley

Thanks for the awesome idea! I’ve put matcha in my oatmeal and really enjoyed that, but never thought to brew tea for oatmeal…chai sounds like it would be great!

This tea was perfect for this morning. I swear I have been in a whirl wind of craze lately. Today we are making the last of the big decisions for the wedding which will be only a few months away. Figured why wait with a few family members having health issues. Might as well just go ahead and do it. All I have left to do are my flowers, whatever we are wearing, and the actual ceremony site. So not too much but geez. I feel like I haven’t stopped running.

Anyway, today’s lovely tea is one from Blackbird Tea Co, a company that I really hadn’t heard much about until I started looking around on Steepster.

This tea was very lovely and just want I needed to get going this morning. Not so much caffeine wise, more flavor wise. I wanted something sweet but not overly so and this tea delivered. Reminded me of blueberry jam actually with w tart floral twist.

For the rest of my ramblings-http://www.cuppageek.com/index.php/2015/08/07/a-delicious-tea-that-is-keeping-me-a-float-right-now-blue-blanc-from-blackbird-tea-co/

Happy Friday all!

Sil

what sort of dress are you thinking of?

Nichole/CuppaGeek

I’m thinking a lace dress with cowboy boots. I’m not a country girl but I love this look. Tomorrow I’m going dress looking. Kinda excited about hanging out with my mom all day.

Sil

sounds lovely!

ashmanra

As a mom, that statement makes me smile. Have fun!

Nichole/CuppaGeek

I had a great day with my mom and I found the perfect dress for $20 and boots to match for $15. So fun.

White Rabbit

Lace dress with cowboy boots – wonderful!

Another sipdown. Still loving that caramel apple flavor that reminds me of candy. So good. Needed this to pick me up this afternoon.

This is a sad sipdown. Once I have cut my tea stash down at least in half, we will meet again. Until then, you will be missed my morning friend.

Marzipan

Half might take a while!

Nichole/CuppaGeek

Yeah. . . .I know. . . :(

Ugh…I need to get myself back under control! I had tea a London Tea Room today with my grand daughter, & ended up buying a teaware for her and for me (like I need anymore). Also more tea…

Nichole/CuppaGeek

There are just so many teas out there I want to try. It is so hard to keep yourself under control. . . especially when you pair that with teaware.

This one sounded so interesting, a sweet and savory black tea. But I just didn’t care for it. Unfortunately the savory part was too much for me but I think this would make an excellent marinade for fish or steak.

Today I needed a celebration tea and this is the one I use for just those occasions. This tea holds up over time and just makes me happy. I wish it was offered all year round because I find myself hoarding it. I love the cinnamon green roobios goji berry combination. It is like drinking or eating sweet cinnamon berry flavored honey. I love this tea and I am hoping that M&K bring it back this year along with their Pumpkin tea for the fall season.

Why do I need to celebrate? My boyfriend proposed to me last night! I am still incredibly shocked and crazy excited. If you want to read about it, check out the link below. Thank you for all that have already congratulated me. I’m still on Cloud Nine!

As you may have guessed. . .I picked this tea purely on the name alone. How could I not? It cracked me up!

This tea had such a strong solid malty richness to it. I loved it. More than I thought it would . As it cooled the astringency started to really kick in and I just still loved it. Maybe my tastes are starting to change. . .again. This hit the spot. That is for sure. Just a simple non complicated solid black tea.

This tea reminded me of how much I missed the Kick The Coffee blend that Koni offers. So far I haven’t encountered a bad tea from them yet.

While I was drinking this tea, I worked on a fun blog post. I took part in the 5 Fandom Friday list today and today’s topic was "If you could pick 5 fictional pets to adopt, who would they be? "

I instantly thought Ludo from Labyrinth and Fizzgig from the Dark Crystal. Who would you pick? Just some Friday fun for you all! Happy Friday!

I’ll second Bunnicula. :) Hm..

Stitch
The Cat from Coraline
moushkas from Coraline
Rowf from Plague Dogs
Einstein from Watchers
Ein from Cowboy Bebop

That was a fun bit for a Friday! :)

Thanks to the lovey and amazing Marzipan for this delight. Some of the teas from Sunshine Cottage I have really enjoyed and this was one I’d had my eye on.

Unfortunately, I think I bumbled the steeping parameters or overleafed because I was greeted with an overwhelming bitter tea and none of the sweet maple notes I was hoping for. I could taste very very faint hints of a sweetness but I can’t say it was a maple flavor or not. OOPS! Teaches me to brew up a tea before deadline time.

I am in love with the Orange Moon Tea Society and the universe they have created. Orange Moon Tea Society is a tea company that is based off of a collection of stories from Snadragon Tea, a young adult series that follows the life of Emily and what she encounters at her great grandmother’s boarding house. How fun is that! I am so intrigued by the beauty of the artwork each tea has been given and the creative genius of the whole idea of the Orange Moon Tea Society.

This particular tea is a black mango orange mandarin flavored tea. What I love the most is the mandarin orange aftertaste you are left with that keeps you coming back for more. I’m very happy with this one and plan to pick up more when I see it back on the site.

Ooo… I have been curious about their teas. I love the artwork and I’m a huge bat geek.

Oh where to begin. Its been a crazy couple years. My life has completely been turned upside down but I’m very happy where I landed. I’m finally in a great place-Living with an amazing guy and his hilarious yet full of attitude twin teenage boys, and my two adorable kiddos in Central Illinois and there is no other place I’d want to be.

Now on to the tea: I love all kinds. I’m not a huge fan of red rooibos but I love green rooibos. Beyond that, I’ll try everything once or twice to make sure I didn’t bumble up the steepings. If you are interested in something from me, just holler at me. I’m always up for trying new tea blends or sharing with others!
