343 Tasting Notes
Thanks to RogersCK for this sample!
From the bag this smells exactly like fruit snacks/fruit punch. It was so fruity that I couldn’t even smell anything relating to green tea. Brewed, it’s a deep pink hue. I added sweetener as it was a bit bland without. It’s hovering right around the “am I drinking cough syrup?” and “mmm cherry”. The thing that saves it is the other flavors.
I bet this would be good iced!
Preparation
I’m still not quite sure how I feel about this tea. I made it hot, but used a lower water temperature than the one recommended on the packaging, with 2 teaspoons and managed to scoop out one whole cherry. I can’t really place the fruit, there’s a lot of different ones in here, but thankfully, it doesn’t taste like sour lemon, although I did add sweetener. Think I prefer this one iced.
Preparation
I cold steeped this for over 24 hours. I don’t think I used enough leaf since it is very light. Right out of the fridge, it is a refreshing drink and a plus, it doesn’t need sweetener. I wouldn’t say it’s especially unique, but sometimes you need a departure from exciting teas for something simple and safe.
Ugh, I couldn’t finish my mug. I used boiling water, steeped for 4 minutes and adding some skim milk (and even added a couple chocolate chips to the mix). Just not good. I don’t know what it is, but the mint is incredibly overpowering. I didn’t get any chocolate even with my add-ins. I dumped the rest of my mug.
Preparation
So far I’ve been impressed with The Persimmon Tree’s white tea offerings. This is no exception. When drinking it, it kind of reminds me of frozen coconut bars (well aside from the temperature difference). It’s creamy and just enough coconut to not seem artificial. I added some sweetener to mine and it’s pretty much dessert in a cup. Yum.
(Used approximately 3tsp for my 16oz steeping mug but the leaves are so big, that I think it was more like 2tsp)
Preparation
When I first found Steepster, I went a little crazy during a Tealux sale and bought 100 grams of this. Now I know for the future, unless I know I love a tea, 50 grams or less is more than sufficient to determine if I like and want to buy it or not (and it’s awful to be stuck with so much tea if I hate it)!
Anyway, back to Strawberry Splash. This is a light green, fruity tea. I added sweetener and I do taste real strawberry, there’s a fullness in my mouth when I drink this which is very pleasant. It also has hibiscus in it which adds a touch of tartness, but not too bad. I used 3 teaspoons in my 16oz steeping mug.
I bet this would also be good iced.
Preparation
Another sample sachet from Davidstea. This was ok, but after having The Persimmon Tree’s white butterscotch, this doesn’t even compare. You definitely smell caramel and there’s caramel at the beginning of the sip, but then it sort of goes away. I’m getting a bitter taste at the end of the sip, maybe I steeped too long. It’s not unpleasant, but it’s definitely not as nice compared to the flavor mixed with a white tea base.
Once again, I took my Davidstea Bai Hao Yin Zhen with some freeze-dried banana. But this time, I added some unsweetened coconut flakes to the mix. It’s still super tasty but I think I prefer it with just the banana. Either way, my creativity is in full force.
I’m actually surprised that more tea blenders don’t use white tea for dessert-type blends. It adds the creaminess that black or green doesn’t give you without more additives. Given the prices, it seems more expensive but it seems to taste so much better than black tea + stuff.

I agree on the borderline ‘cough syrup’ taste. I do like it better iced.
