251 Tasting Notes
In person the leaves look just like droppings. Eww. The smell is straight up strawberry, so the smell is more promising than the appearance!
The tea has a nice strawberry flavor, but there’s an odd old clothes, antique shop, mothball kind of vibe. I like strawberry slender from Teavana much, much better. I won’t be ordering more of this one, unless the second trial is much, much better.
I have too much tea.
This was on the shopping list because I thought I was out. I was straightening out the tea collection, when I realized that the old webtea tin (does it age me? Anyone else remember this company?) still had some Smooth STrawberry Dream in it!!! Joy!
This is my absolute favorite rooibos. The first one that I actually liked, and one of the few that I’ve liked well enough to thing about reordering. It doesn’t come accross as rooibos to me, instead the strawberry and the caramel take center stage. I guess that’s why I like it so much!
I haven’t tried it iced, and I haven’t been in the mood for iced tea lately, so I’m drinking it hot today. I’m not sure how long I let it steep, I did a little bit of cleaning in the aquarium while I was brewing the tea. (Using a battery powered vacuum, which is fast, but that’s probably a review for a different website.)
The leaves smell good, and my husband commented on how good my tea smelled when he came into the kitchen. I tasted it straight first and it was not at all bitter, but was a sort of assertive tasting tea. With a touch of soy cream and sweetener, it was delicious. Very nice with a blueberry scone from the grocery store bakery.
Have you ever had those muscat gummies? I bought a package of them from the Japanese department store at Epcot once.
Anyway, this tea tastes just like those. (Well, what they would taste like if you ate them with tea!) If you like the gummies, definitely try the tea. If you don’t like the thought of candy flavored tea, maybe you want to stay away from this one.
Backlogging—
This morning I brewed some of this to take to school in a travel mug. It was steeped for quite a bit longer than suggested, but did not get bitter. The coconut flavor really shown through! I was very pleased with the way the taste held up in the travel mug.
I used up the last of this yesterday!! Just squeaked in heating up the water before we lost power for 5 hours. Very grateful that it’s back on now, and that the tree that fell during the storm didn’t do any more than damaging a neighbor’s car and taking out some power lines.
Yesterday was not a good day.
Today was not much better, but I went straight home, opened my new packet of this tea and sat back to relax and destress.
The fact that the tea is really, really good is helping!
This came as a part of my new years Luck Bag, Happy Bag? Something like that. Anyway, it was a good start to a morning after have no power for 5 hours yesterday! (6 til 11 pm very inconvenient.)
I have tons of more interesting teas to drink, but this was nice. Very down to earth. Very grounding.
Happy Friday!
