Today I sipped White2Tea’s 2016 Poundcake. An excellent lightly sweet tea with very little astringency or bitterness proper for someone who would like to start with shengs. Very drinkable indeed.

Tomorrow is the turn of 2016 Tuhao as F*ck!

I started my day with Feng Qing Golden Puerh loose leaf from Yunnan Sourcing. Got to try my yixing easy gaiwan with it too. It was nice, creamy and sweet but also mild. It got too mild, too quickly for my taste but I did drink it over a four hour period so in hindsight it held it’s own really. I don’t think I would buy more of this particular one but if it was on sale it’s a nice enough day tea.

W2T Fade in the morning and 2Basics Huangpian after lunch. Seems to confirm that the 2Basics teas are thinner, more astringent, and have less endurance than similar teas that you’d buy individually, which I find not at all surprising.

Today is the turn of W2T 2016 Tuhao as F*ck. Initially sweet but with some bitterness later and just like LBZ some caffeine (or did I use too many leaves?). Also a very nice gushu like aroma.

Today I drank an excellent sheng from Streetshop88. I wasn’t sure how this one would taste. It had arrived in the mail with bubble wrap taped directly to the wrapper and the wrapper was damaged removing the tape. The other day I got a replacement wrapper in the mail so I figured it was time to try the tea. The tea was pretty damn close to phenomenal. It was that good. It had not developed the aged taste of leather and tobacco that so many nine year old teas do. Instead it had developed a nice semi sweet very smooth flavor. I am not sure what to call this flavor, maybe chestnuts, maybe mushrooms, maybe something else. But it was nice and smooth with as I say a semi sweet taste. The first couple steeps of this tea still had the young sheng note of apricots actually. Around the third steeps this was replaced by the aged note. Again, this was mellow, smooth, and just a semi sweet taste. This tea qualifies as a bargain in my mind. It is one of the best tasting semi aged shengs I have tried and it was only around $50 for a 500g bing. This was one good tea.

Trying a ripe today from a new EBay seller, vin_enjoy. The tea is the 2015 Jin Zhen Li Cha Puerh Tea Cake Ripe. As I have several more teas coming from this seller I was hoping for something really spectacular. What I got was something really average. There was a lot of fermentation flavor and a fair amount of bitterness. At times I thought I detected a sour note but am not sure. It did eventually develop into something nicer. I recently discovered an EBay seller from Hong Kong who sold me some incredible teas. Can’t say this one was incredible. It was just about an average ripe puerh. Nothing in my mind makes this one stand out. I did not give the tea very long to acclimate to the New Your environment, having received the tea four days ago. Maybe after it airs out for another two weeks it will be improved. We will see how the other teas from this seller are. I have two more to try and more coming. Some of which I got for very good prices on auction.

This morning I started early with a good session of 2016 Bosch. This was followed by 2011 Nayun ancient trees raw pu’er.

Since I needed some more excitement, just before lunch I started a session of 2006 LBZ which lasted 14 steeps before putting away the leaves to carry on tomorrow.

Enough of tea for one day. LOL

Today I’m drinking a sample from Berylleb King Tea, the 2016 Menghai Dayi “Long Sheng Gan Lu” Raw Puerh Tea. This was overall a good tea. It was bitter initially. It had a moderately strong bitterness that lasted a good eight steeps. After this a sweet note did emerge. I am not sure if I would call that sweet note apricots but maybe. As to qi, I am fairly relaxed but not strong enough to say tea buzz. The qi on this one is a definite maybe. Overall a very good tea. Not sure what Berylleb gets for this one as it was a free sample.

Dragon Nectar. I think $40.00 or so.

That is the translation? It was a nice tea. Have you drank it? I think you put it in the catalog.

I got it to store as the Dragon productions usually have some good stuff in them. I will probably get into it in a few months.
