2014 rui gong tian chao from chadao.de
Apricots & cream, with a nice body & slightly muted taste (in a really good way). A very pleasant aroma, slightly cashew nut maybe? Anyway its similar to some of my nice Oolong in that regard. Really really like it so far, on steep 7 or so.
Actually the first time I tasted that tea I thought it was a oolong in the wrong sample packet.
Its 100% to my taste, thanks for the swap
Next time I’ll send you another one of the same style of sheng also from Cha Dao.

ah lovely. I really like this one, trying to work out how I can afford it. Its pretty expensive
Yes, the price has gone up a bit since I bought it. If I recall correctly the other one is cheaper, of the same style and also very clear (transparent) like a good oolong.
Today I went back to my Awazon order and drank another sheng, the 2007 Awazon “Meihua” Ancient Tree Raw Puer Cake. This was a pretty decent sheng with a lot of qi. I am feeling energized from the qi and almost tea drunk too. This tea is in my opinion just on the cusp of becoming an aged tea. It does not yet show the signs of being an aged tea but has lost the apricot sweetness of a young sheng. That is not to say there were no sweet notes. The main note was sweet in a way, but a more subtle way. I am not sure how to describe it. This tea rates highly in my book however for the qi alone. I was unaffected by the qi of White2Tea’s Naka sheng but this one I am feeling. This one is dramatically cheaper too. This is an excellent tea for the price involved. Awazon doesn’t get much press here but so far I have liked the teas I got in my recent order. I have yet to start on the shou.
2007 Bang Wei tonight.
Having this one from the Sheng Olympics buy. I am brewing heavy, almost 12 grams as the new tea vessel is 200ml. A bit more leaf than usual.
Starting out I gave this one a rinse and a good 30 minute wait to brew it. I did inhale the wet leaf and the honey sweet and grassy aroma was there.
Good notes on the storage as this is right. The sips bring a bit of the light tobacco to the table that goes sweet almost instantly. The liquor is think in the front part of the mouth. The feel is good and it brings the salivation in early.
Sipping and pausing between sips it still goes on. It does have a bit of the drying aspect if you pause long enough. This is likely to be the tea not stored wet. No mustiness or off flavors and one rinse got it going good. Some stone fruit notes similar to an apricot as well.
Nice tea
Flavors: Drying, Grass, Honey, Stonefruits, Sweet, Tobacco

It is nice. I need to try the new one now.
I liked the 2011 better I think.
trying the yiwu snake blend now. its another i tink I already like
It is quite a yummy one, sweet and creamy like creme brulee.
I notice the cream in this one as well. I like these types of sheng, all of mine previously have been the fruity type.
Very nice for drinking now, and make a nice partner to all the oolong I drink
I’m doing an experiment to re-evaluate my gong-fu technique. I just finished a session of 2007 Repave using 2 grams per 2 ounces of water. I’m now repeating the session with 3.8 grams in 2 oz. Biggest difference so far is that the cha qi is getting out of hand.
I’m jumping on the bang wei (2011) bandwagon. So far it’s very nice.
Having another Awazon tea this morning, the 2013 Awazon Raw Puerh Tea Cake 357g 1305#, Spring Tea. This tea was pretty good overall. It was sweet at the start with a note that felt like white grapes but not as sweet. Some bitterness crept in around the third steep. It had some qi that I am still feeling but not a massive qi. It also had a mild astringency. It is a pretty good tea overall for a low price. I think it is priced at $32.95 if I remember right. Overall I liked it. I only gave it eight steeps but it would have certainly gone a few more.
Tried the first ripe of my Awazon order, a 2011 Menghai Tea Factory 7572 batch 103. This tea was sold so cheaply I wasn’t sure it would turn out to be real. However both the outer seal and the inner ticket scanned green under the black light. It also tasted much to me like a Dayi ripe. It was sweet with a lot of fermentation flavor. It was dark and rich in the early infusions. There were some notes of chocolate in there too. It tasted much like other Dayi ripe I have drank to me. Despite the price I firmly believe this to be real. At $13 or so it is a bargain. I don’t know why they don’t charge more for this but they don’t. They could certainly sell this for $25 or $30.
your reviews have me reading the Pu-erhtea.com website. Not a good thing! It goes against my goal of buying less tea of higher quality, but I see several cakes that look REALLY tempting. Sigh.
So far I like the stuff I got from them in these last two orders. Their Dayi ripe are cheap and to all appearances real. This one glowed green under the black light, both the seal and the inner ticket. When they fake a Dayi they generally don’t fake the security features.
Oh, and I thhink their teas are good quality. Perhaps not phenomenal but generally good quality. When I ordered from them a couple of years back I remember particularly liking their Awazon brand ripe teas. I wasn’t much into sheng then.
He finds the little hidden places a lot Dr Jim. He moves fast hard to keep up with him.
7572 is not an expensive recipe, I doubt the price is too far off.
Enjoyed a nice early afternoon session with the White Whale from W2T. Glad I bought a few back when it was $15 (if memory serves me right).I particularly like the camphor/woody notes that seem more prominent in later brews. Sadly my lack of drinking much sheng at the moment seems to have meant my stomach doesn’t seem to have enjoyed the Whale as much…. Guess the answer is to drink more sheng again to get used to it!
I was revisiting WW last weekend too. I think it’s even nicer than I remember.
Good to hear, always nice to revisit a tea and find it better than before.
