What-Cha

A bit more of a grassy aroma that reminds me of a Tieguanyin. The wet aroma is less floral/grass any slightly creamy and milk. The brewed tea is a bit on the light side but really does have some nice milky flavors reminiscent of a milk oolong but not as extreme. I wouldn’t say this tea is my favorite but its still quite enjoyable and decently priced. I would but more of this if I was looking for a daily green oolong.

This is just a really good priced Taiwanese green oolong which is for sure on the floral side of things. Not too complex but something I would for sure recommend for people who enjoy floral teas, has a taste similar to jasmine. As for me I found it to be a bit too floral and lacking in other things, but I was still able to enjoy it.

Thin and somewhat drying, with very light notes of hay and an indistinct fruitiness. A vague, peculiar medicinal quality comes out in the finish. This is an altogether unusual oolong with uneven oxidation and mildness of flavor.

This was a very nice floral tea. Evolved through multiple steeps, and very tasty.

A very nice tea, quite sweet. The honey aroma and taste is definitely there, but I feel like there’s a lot more going on while still keeping the smoothness. That’s what I like about it mostly. After a few steeps the sweetness starts to invade your mouth by instants only, but it’s quite powerful. Besides, the creamy texture makes it a pleasant drinking experience overall.

Fairly smooth on entry, with light malt and a mild fruitiness at the forefront. Faint notes of muscatel and wood are accompanied by slight astringency in the finish. This tea has delicate flavors and wasn’t as bold as expected.

There is an immediate burst of rich nuttiness as the thick, brothy liquor coats the mouth, followed by a sweet vegetal flavor that takes over and gradually reveals an unexpected floral note. This is the first Dragon Well that has truly impressed me. It is bold, smooth, and an absolute delight.

Soft tannins and citric fruitiness with a somewhat candied note that transitions to lemon blossom in the aftertaste. This tea has a dryness to it, but also packs quite a punch of flavor.

Well, I’m just going to go ahead and review this since I decided to throw the whole 10g sample into my 200ml Gaiwan without any hesitation; which 4:00 a.m. mornings and hyper children do to one’s mind without napping.

Anyway, I’m currently on steep 7 or 8. I’ve been distracted drinking this, and not writing down each steep; therefore, this review is mostly focused on this steep currently. Sweet cocoa, honey, and malt notes throughout. The maltiness of this tea lingers on tongue after the tea is consumed, but it’s nice. Very nice mouthfeel. It’s a rich and smooth brew, and quite tasty as an afternoon tea.

I might get more of this for my last semester of classes! It’d be a great tea for the two hour course, and nice to brew a lot, since I drink so much during a lecture. I’d even give this a go for the afternoon shift at the Y. So, with that said, I rate this highly.

YUM! This tea tastes so much of sweet potato (which I noticed especially on the second and third steepings) that I’m wondering if I should sweeten it with brown sugar and marshmallows, lol. It goes excellently with milk and sugar, in any case. :)

(So . . . apparently I like sweet potato notes in my tea? That seems to be the gist of this.)

This tea has a thick texture and robust, aromatic malt with a slight note of mint in the finish. It is quite strong and straightforward, and while lacking the fruity and floral aspects sometimes found in a Dian Hong, still yields a pleasant cup.

A pretty great tea with an amazing smell of tropical fruits. The flavor is quite malty and sits nicely in the mouth.

This tea has a really amazing sweet/cinnamon aftertaste, also not as floral as green Oolongs and also a bit thicker. Has really rich honey/caramel flavor with along with a sort of wood flavors that turn to cinnamon. This one was just really pleasant to drink, also quite complex so its never boring.

This is definitely one of the teas that shows me how much more I enjoy more oxidized or roasted Oolongs.

This is what an old Darjeeling that lost it’s sassyness taste like.

Taste of dry sticks and autumn hay. Probably would work well paired with a seafood dish but by itself this is not an enjoyable cup since it is very drying with almost not tasting notes that would make it appealing.

Sipdown. From the regional group buy. Did this at ‘not’ boiling . Creamy, sweet, small amount of green at the end. Very much a mouthfeel tea for me. Liked this so much better than the Bitaco black.

An initial earthiness and mild bitterness lead into a roasted note and hint of plum, although without much sweetness. This is an unusual tea that is quite different from other oolongs.

Rich malt with a brisk edge and a fruity note that expands on the palate, developing a very light sweetness in the finish. This tea is quite enjoyable and most resembles a Yunnan Dian Hong.

This tea reminded me of some old leather shoe left in a dry dusty basement fused with some soggy wet wood. The description states that this tea is an aquired taste and that couldn’t be further from the truth. I feel that going to the forest and scooping up a random patch of dirt will bring me similar results.

Though I’m going to persist to see if it brings any more flavours in the subsequent rounds.

Soft and plush with a floral burst and growing sweetness. Notes of butter and magnolia blossom linger well into the finish, which is smooth and very slightly drying. A splendid oolong.
