In the airport my choices were McDonald’s for tea or this tea at a coffee stand. I went for this :) Not too disappointed. I wouldn’t by the tea in a store but one of the better teas I’ve gotten out. The flavor has a good balance. I usually find earl grey’s are too strong or lack flavor but this one doesn’t have either problem.
This past week, I received a newsletter from Two Leaves and a Bud, naming this tea as the “Steep of the Month” – so in honor of that, I decided I would brew myself a cup.
I really like this tea. It has a beautiful nutty and vegetative flavor to it. Buttery. Delicious!
Preparation
I couldn’t find this anywhere, but – by accident – finally located it at a Korean eatery near my work. It’s a very resilient green tea, handles 190F water like a champ. The flavor is lightly grassy, kelp-ish, sweet, and a bit buttery with a fruit note. Everything a guricha should be.
Preparation
Thank you Miss Meghann for sending this my way! I too am getting a faint minty smell here along with the yummy berry. The taste is very berry, even slightly sour ( I don’t really see this as a bad thing). There is a soothing quality to this tea. And I think I am detecting the mint in there with the taste as well (either that or its the power of suggestion). ;)
I have to be honest, when it comes to “bedtime” blends, I’m rather partial to my Meadow Nocturne. However, since I’ve stopped making my blends, it’s nice when I come across a blend that I like almost as well. This is one of those blends.
I love the flavor of this one. It’s very light and gently sweet. There are soft notes of peppermint, citrus, ginger and licorice… and an overtone of honey that is not overwhelming.
I can already feel myself starting to relax….
Preparation
Wow, Jaime was right, this is very Magenta!
I love the scent and color of this herbal blend. The taste is very berry, with a hint of something herbal/minty (maybe the blackberry leaf). I really enjoyed how fruity this was. I’m glad to have another herbal bagged blend that I can enjoy at night.
Preparation
Any luck finding this one? If they don’t carry it I can grab you a box. It’s a great tea to have around.
Meghann introduced me to this tea a while back…and sent me a bunch more in our last swap! I’ve brought some to the office to enjoy here. It’s bright and fruity and sweet, and makes for a fantastic afternoon pick-me-up (well, unless you don’t like hibiscus). I really, really love this one, and bringing it to work was an excellent idea. I think I feel a second wind coming on…
Preparation
It’s magenta!!! Deep, bright magenta!! In fact, it’s the exact shade I wanted my El Camino to be when I was 5. Yes, when I was 5, I wanted a magenta El Camino when I turned 16. I fully admit that I had (have) no taste. And, yes, this was one of the things that stuck in my father’s mind when 16 rolled around. Thankfully, he wasn’t that cruel.
Thanks to Meghann M for sending me a few bags of this to try! I brewed it like I do all my hibiscus teas: 10 minutes in boiling water (have I mentioned I like tart?). Loved the smell of the dry bags, and the individually wrapped bags themselves.
It’s not tart. It’s sweet, and thick, almost syrupy. I can taste the rosehips, the orange, the faintest hint of apple (almost a Pink Lady taste), and, of course, the hibiscus. This could rival some of the Republic of Tea’s hibiscus teas…that’s saying something.
What I’d really like to do with this is brew up a big pitcher, sugar the snot out of it, and then set it up in one of those “turn your juice into wine” home brewing kits. Oh, yeah, must get more of this tea!!
Preparation
Oooh….turning fruit tea into wine? I need one of those kits!
Glad this ranked right up there with RoT’s hibiscus. I still have to try this one but I’ve heard good things about this company. Might have to steep up a cup now!

My best friend and I are going to be experimenting with it during our next wine massacre girls’ weekend.
It’s delicious!! I’m going to have to look for it around here!
Thanks for sharing the link. I bookmarked it and will have to search some down. That would make an awesome girls night drink.
I was surprised this wasn’t in the database yet. Anyhow…I am backlogging this. Sometimes bagged green tea leaves a funky aftertaste – this did NOT. PLUS ONE, eh!? In the past I have had some bad tea flavoring experiences with Goji flavored stuff. Luckily this was a gently flavored green tea. Another PLUS! And I enjoyed this cup pretty well! It was a nice surprise! Yet another PLUS!
So…3 PLUSes…equals a PLUS type of review/rating.
I don’t think I would stock up on this but would certainly drink it on occasion if I came across it from time to time.
At the coffee shop, I needed a tea to drink. This tastes like a standard run of the mill bagged Assam. Medium body, clean finish, a little drying on the back outer edges of the palate, I’m unimpressed. However, it’s better than nothing. 50/100. New to tea? Try this one. It’ll grow on you. I’m glad to have hot lightly flavored water on a cold, rainy classic Ohio autumn afternoon. Enjoy your cup today, whatever it may be!
Preparation
I’m not usually a big green tea drinker, but this one is quite nice. I found this one at T.J.Maxx for 3 bucks marked down. I buy a lot of my teas that way. What I like about this tea is while it smells and tastes of jasmine, its not overpowering. A&D’s jasmine was way too much jasmine for me. This tea is relaxing and just a little sweet. I get just a little bitterness towards the bottom of the cup but not too much. This is not a tea I would purchase at full price but for the price I payed a good bargain.
The second steep of this tea actually tastes better than the first. No bitterness at all.
Preparation
TOTALLY off subject, but when we were having the book club discussion I remembered you like Pillars of the Earth and when the TV series showed up on the Netflix instant watch, I suggested we watch it – and now we are HOOKED! Once I finish watching the show, I am definitely going to read the book. Thank you for putting it on my radar!
The funny thing is that the TV series is actually following the book. Some things they leave out but its close.
There is also a sequel “World Without End” that takes place 200 years later with the same families. Both books are a long read, over 1000 pages each.
I can’t wait to read all the details in the books – I do usually read the book first but it this case it happened all backwards Many times a visual adaptation makes me go reread the books – I have a awful cycle where I read Lord of the Rings, which makes me want to see the films again, which makes me want to read he book again, and I repeat the cycle again and again!
I will check out World Without End too! Thank you!
A beautiful bergamot aroma filled the air when I opened this package. I just love bergamot!
I do wish that the brewed liquor were a little more fragrant, but the flavor is very nice. It is pungent and juicy with citrus flavor and a pleasant bergamot sharpness to it that I really like.
Preparation
In attempt to ‘get rid of’ the after effects from the Hibiscus nightmare (I mean “dream”) – I went ahead with this one.
This is a neat green-brown color – rich and deep in color. Smells like regular peppermint…and pretty much tastes like it. Run of the mill, yes…full of minty-goodness, yes.
This is unexpectedly really good. But then, it shouldn’t BE unexpected because I’m rarely disappointed with teas from Two Leaves and a Bud. My apprehension is because of the goji berry. I’ve had a few blends that were just too tart for my personal taste, and since that time it’s left me with apprehension when it comes to the goji.
This is a very different tropical blend – the flavor is much smoother and more berry-like than a typical tropical blend… the combination of the berry and the tropical flavors creates a silky sweet flavor that is fruity and yummy. Really nice iced!
Preparation
Received some of this in a tea swap. I love rooibos, not a great fan of lemongrass, so I was curious about blending them. The overwhelming taste is rooibos, so that’s good. I got a definite hint of the lemongrass in the smell, not so much in the taste. The rooibos wasn’t as strong or as “earthy” as some others I’ve tried, maybe that’s the lemongrass contribution.
A simple, pleasant cuppa before bed. I’ll enjoy the stash while it lasts, I doubt I’ll replenish the supply when it’s gone.
Preparation
Sort of looks like a WHITE flavored tea in color…a light /mellow orangish-pinkish-brown type color. Smells like berries and chamomile. Tastes like Hibiscus mostly, then apple and berries. Sour Hibiscus aftertaste…meh. Half of cup hot…meh. COLD is much better but still not AWESOME…just ok.
