I decided to try this tea on my then boyfriend, now husband’s recommendation. This is the first lapsang souchong I’ve ever tasted and so far it’s the only one. The flavor came to me as a bit of a shock. It’s very smoky. Like drinking a campfire smoky. And the black tea base is very strong. I know it’s probably not the best lapsang souchong out there but given the bold flavor I have to say it’s definitely an acquired taste. I can only drink it when I’m having Chinese food, and only when I’m in the mood for it with my meal.

Preparation
Today’s cup is bitter for some reason. Perhaps I should drop the temperature back to my regular 200 degrees next time. I’m not sure that it’s the tea, but I’m also getting a headache since I started drinking this. Maybe it’s the caffeine?
Today is my first day back to work after a long weekend full of wedding festivities. I was in the bridal party so I decided I needed an extra day to relax yesterday. It was a beautiful day and definitely one of the most fun weddings I’ve been to. I’ve realized only recently that I don’t really enjoy most weddings for some reason so I’m glad this was an exception to that rule. Now the lovebirds are off honeymooning and the rest of us are back to the daily grind. I only wish I could be somewhere tropical too. Maybe soon!

I breezed right through this one without a second thought. Only after I finished my cup did I realize that I hadn’t written my note yet.
This was a little bitter today, but nothing that some extra honey couldn’t fix. Actually, I’m not sure bitter is the best word to describe it. It just seemed a bit off. Maybe not even off, but sharp. Yes, it tasted sharp. But the honey did help to round it out.
I guess because of the warmer temperatures and transition to spring I’m wanting something a little lighter these days. Not cold, not yet. But not the deep, dark, creamy teas I usually crave. Green teas, I’m thinking. And maybe this is the year I learn to love white teas as well. I know there must be some good ones out there. I just have to find them.
Preparation
I got caught up in a conversation with a coworker this morning so I’m not really sure how long this cup actually steeped. Maybe 7-8 minutes? It’s the best part of my breakfast since the other half is a burnt banana muffin.
It’s the slightest bit bitter today but otherwise just fine.

A coworker asked me this morning what kind of tea I planned on drinking today and when I told her about this one she commented that Earl Grey is boring. It made laugh because Earl Grey is one of my favorites! Today’s cup is so good – sweet and creamy and strong. I wish I had brought another since this one doesn’t re-steep so well.
Preparation
It’s a dreary, rainy Monday. This morning’s tea was a good cup but I’m not sure it’s exactly what I wanted today. The bergamot flavor and aroma was really there and it’s a pretty strong cup, but it still wasn’t quite as satisfying as it could have been. I’m sure it’s just me having an off day. I brought an herbal tea to drink later today so maybe that’s what I need.

Preparation
Another Earl Grey this morning. I’ve been enjoying this for a breakfast tea. Today’s cup tastes strong and full of bergamot flavor. I’m sure at some point I’ll be ready for something new, but for now this one seems like a natural choice for my mornings.

Preparation
I am so sleepy this morning and really just feel like I’m dragging around the office. It was dark and raining like crazy on my way in this morning. In fact, I think it’s supposed to be stormy all week. I enjoy thunderstorms usually, but only when I’m able to stay in and watch them through my kitchen window. Driving to work in this kind of weather is not so fun. So when I got here I wanted something warm and satisfying and this is it. Creamy and sweet, this is a great tea to round out my breakfast.
Preparation
I love it. As always. I’m not sure I could ever grow tired of this one. Unless I found another Earl Grey that I love even more. But even so, this one is an easy favorite and one I won’t be putting down anytime soon.
Preparation
I am so close to finishing off the oldest teas in my cabinet! I can tell that this one is starting to lose its fragrance so I’ll be glad to drink these so that I can get a fresh box. That being said, I love this tea so even if it isn’t quite at its peak I will have no trouble finishing off these last few bags.
Preparation
My husband got the dreaded slap on the wrist from his doctor yesterday about drinking too much tea so now he has to cut it out completely, at least for the next few weeks. It’s a little sad to me since I enjoy our morning tea chats at work, but of course I want him to be healthy so a tea I hiatus it is. For him. :) I’ll still be drinking tea as usual, but probably more so at work so as not to tempt him.
This morning’s cup was so good, definitely a comforting favorite. I am not pickup up on the bergamot in the dry tea lately, but I definitely noticed it while the tea was steeping and also in the flavor. This is always a good, predictable cup any time of day.

Well, I might have put ice cream in my tea. Again. I was running low on cream earlier this week and, since I had just made some vanilla bean ice cream over the weekend, I had the life-changing idea to melt a spoon of it to use in my Earl Grey.
This might just be my new favorite way to drink tea. Or any hot beverage. Or anything at all. Let’s just add ice cream to everything.
