The Tao of Tea

It smells like hay/barn/summer and I mean it in a very nice way. The lemon is not too overwhelming.

had this with some chocolate chip cookies today. very complimentary.

Got this in Portland last year. A very durable tea. Strong on the caffeine levels, smooth on the acidity level. Perfect after a large breakfast. The digestive properties of pu-erh’s are very active in this one and the caffeine wakes you up. Brew it in boiling water for 2-4 minutes depending on how strong you want it. Starts getting watery after 4 steeps at that length.

My last of this one. Used a little more leaf to finish it off and really can taste the buttery flavor. I’m sad to see the last of this tea.

Still a solid, super-floral, lilac-heavy delight.

This is easily my favorite tea right now. So much great fresh flavor. This has really opened up the world of greener oolongs to me. And it wasn’t even that expensive!

This tea is fantastic. The first steeping runs a little harsh and minerally, but then it opens up into a fresh flower blossom, warm dew, pale stonefruit, and juicy cup.

This is surprisingly smoky to me, with a strong waft of tar and pitch on the back end of the tea. I almost want to say this was stored in a old Lapsang container, it has that same dry quality. However, I would be surprised if Tao did that. Otherwise, it does have some vegetal spinach-like character and heavy charcoal. Maybe not my favorite.

My standard cup of tea. I adore this.

This is my daily cup o’ tea. I place six pearls in the bottom of my cup fill with hot water and enjoy. I can re-steep the tea two more times. This keeps me from being a caffeine-fiend at work as the amount of flavour from the tea decreases after each cup. Cleaning up is very easy as the leaves quickly dry out and can be easily removed from the cup with little ick factor.

I adore this type of tea and the Tao of Tea has a very good supply of jasmine pearls. The jasmine flavour is a highlight rather than the dominate flavour. I’ve previously encountered jasmine pearls where the floral flavour becomes overpowering and cloying.
