Thank you to TeaEqualsBliss for a sample of this.

This isn’t a bad fruity tea, but it gets astringent quickly. It’s not
as exciting as the Green Caramel that I tried a little while ago, but it’s not bad. The tea smells very nice. I just prefer other flavored greens over this one.

Perhaps cold brewing might make this tea pop a little bit more? Although I am seeing other steepsters complain about bitterness on this tea, too.

Thanks Dhart1214 doe this ELECTION DAY in the USA sample tea!

Since I voted 2 weeks ago already, there’s nothing to do today prior to hunkering down for the results tonight with some Chai and All-American Hot Dogs. I cleaned house just in case my choice for President doesn’t win and I’m glum tomorrow. (Hope that doesn’t happen!)

Everybody in my family is voting for different people and issues. I must have raised my children right because they think for themselves and allow discussion of issues without any character attacks. One is further left, one further right and me, I suppose I’m moderately…not going to tell!

Now that I have a clean house, it’s time for tea!

Dhart1214 sent me a lot of little sample packs from The Persimmon Tree and I’m almost through the bundle.
I was in the MOOD for some Earl. The day is bright and sunny. I’ve had all the windows open, airing out my condo with a fresh Fall breeze.
Now, with a light vanilla candle lit on the kitchen counter, and a cup of Earl Grey, I can sit and relax.

This tea was sweet without adding any additional sweetening. The French Vanilla was tasty and the Bergamot oil fragrant with a pleasing citrus briskness. There wasn’t any acidity, but a smooth, creaminess that made the cup enjoyable.
Some Earl Grey’s don’t hold up to additions very well but this one does. I added half & half and additional sweetening which is the way I like my Earl Grey.

The Persimmon Tree tea’s have been hit and miss. This one is pretty good.

God Bless America!

(For you in other parts of the World, God Bless your Countries! Australia, Canada, England, Italy, China, Japan, India, Croatia, France, Ecuador, Ireland, Denmark…these are the people who follow me I think…)

Hi Bonnie,
It appears the TPT has recently discontinued their Earl Grey Creme and replaced it with Earl Grey Heaven – http://www.persimmontreetea.com/earl-grey-heaven-tea.html
Ingredients
“Organic and Biodynamic Black Loose-Leaf Tea, Organic Cornflowers, Organic Oil of Bergamot, Natural Flavors, Earl Grey Heaven Black Tea”

The newly added ingredients to the Heaven version appear to be Biodynamic Black Loose-Leaf Tea & Organic Cornflowers.

I think I’ve finally reached the point where I have too many tea samples. Or maybe I’m just saying that because I was gone for a week and I came back to 4 boxes of swaps and it all seems so overwhelming. Tea samples are always awesome, but now I’m wondering how I’m going to go through it all. In the meantime, I’m going to try to resist all the upcoming Christmas promotions.

Anyway, I picked this out from the sample box I got from momo a while back. I don’t have much experience with guava, so I’m really sure what to expect. I’m not getting a LOT of guava flavor in this, I mostly just taste the white tea. It’s not bad, but I’m not picking up on all the notes that everyone else seems to be. Or maybe I’m just not familiar with guava to taste it. It’s not a bad tea at all, though. Didn’t really get a chance to cold brew this since my samples was so small, so maybe I might pick up the fruitiness a little better if it was colder.

Finished the rest of my sample – making a large pot of this while I work on my NaNoWriMo story.
I’m trying to catch up since I started late, plus I didn’t write much during my birthday. Getting there!

I simply left the leaves in my large tea pot, since it lacks a strainer. This tea, oversteeped, develops a smokey touch to it and loses it’s energizing zing to it. Still pretty good and kept me going with my writing.

Really distracted this morning, I’m thinking the day light savings thing messed up my internal clock.

A pretty golden cup of oolong – full bodied vegetal flavor, a little sweet but has a mysterious energizing crisp quality too, like almost minty, but does not taste minty, if that makes sense.

Resteeped, the tea is a darker gold. Less refreshing taste, but still full of flavor.

Overall, pretty good – the refreshing first cup was pretty good! If you want a non floral oolong that is more on the veggie side, this would be up your alley!

This tea is pretty old, and definitely not as good as it once was. Probably going to use the last few teaspoons up as iced tea, as I think it would fare well that way.

What is going on?! I swear I have seen reviews for this tea before, yet for the life of me I could not locate it on Steepster! Anyone have any ideas?!

Anyhow, I was a bit apprehensive to try this tea. Normally a peach-flavoured white should sound quite appealing, but for some reason, I expected it to taste disgusting. Perhaps because I had White Pear from Adagio, which tasted like play-dough. Either way, I decided it was time to get over that and try it! What an excellent decision! The aroma is creamy, which reminds me of Persimmon’s Coconut Creme (which is amazing), and there’s a light hint of actual fresh peach! The flavour completely does not disappoint, either. A delicious, light, creamy white base paired with absolutely fabulous notes of fresh peach and what is coming off to me as fresh apricot. Oh man. I almost wish I had more than just a sample of this tea (aside from the problem of having too much tea in general).

If you are a fan of peachy teas, and like bai mu dan, this is definitely a tea to try! It reminds me of a sparkling peach drink I’ve had at Christmas on occasion (minus much of the sweetness and the fizz). So by that, I mean, it’s pure essence of peaches. Yummmmm!

ETA: Second infusion is a bit lighter, and almost a touch playdoughy, though that could be a consequence of letting the leaves sit overnight. There’s still peachy goodness though! I won’t take this to a third infusion, however.

I think it’s the server that keeps doing that. Things drop off all the time :(

How do you know what play-doh tastes like, haha.

I may have tried eating it once shifty

Thanks to Meowkattack for a sample of this.

When I first saw this tea I didn’t know what the heck to expect. Typically “caramel” stuff is reserved for black teas only. I wasn’t sure how this would work with a green tea base, but I have to say it’s not bad at all.

I agree with others that it works as a nice desert green tea, even though they typically aren’t thought of that way. Caramel lovers will not be disappointed..

Azzrian

I love this stuff

Thank you DHart1214 for this tea sample!

DHart1214 sent me a bunch of little Persimmon Tree samples in little individual servings with a logo seal on them all neat and ready to go. Thanks!

This fruit tea was one of the only packets without caffeine, a good pick for the evening (watching the Project Runway Finale!).

I noticed the first ingredient was hibiscus flowers, then lemongrass and rose hip shells. I don’t mind hibiscus like some other people, but with the other two, I was worried that the sour factor was going to be way up in the high pucker upper range.

With blind faith, my pot of tea was brewed and ready 5 minutes later.

Fortunately, the tea tasted good.
It wasn’t too sour or bitter, but was certainly a tea for drinking with sweetening. If this was a lighter tea maybe you could drink it straight, but this had a heavier fruit liquor and needed sweetening to bring all the fruit flavor to full ripeness.

When sweetened, you could taste the strawberry and cherry as well as the tang from hibiscus and lemongrass. The blend worked well.

I’ve had similar tea’s that were successful when hibiscus and berry flavors were blended together.

Story
This isn’t a story, more of a grandma ‘brag’.
When 2 of my grandsons were adopted two years ago (they are brothers), they were thrilled that my daughter was going to Home School them. They ‘wanted’ their new mom to teach them. I remember Donovan (age 7) with tears telling my daughter, “I want the first words I learn to read to be from you.” It was so sweet. So they joined the other 4 kids and were taught by mom.

As time progressed here in Colorado, all the kids have done better emotionally. One by one several of the older teenagers have gone to local Charter Schools (excellent ones).

This year, all three boys began public Charter School with great excitement and gusto. They are Lovin school!

First Report Cards came today! All the boys got multiple A’s, some B’s and one C. All got A’s in Math and Science.
I’m sooo proud of them. These boys came from the worse situations and still are battling early childhood trauma. The youngest is bipolar. They are jewels!

I’m proud of my daughter for preparing them for this day!

Brag!

Kittenna

Yay, that’s such an awesome thing to hear about, Bonnie! Glad they are doing well and that you are so proud of them! :D

KeenTeaThyme

You are right to brag – that’s a great story, and fabulous news! :)

Ninavampi

Congrats! :)

Bonnie

The boys are coming over for tea and they know ALL about Steepster! I’ll be sure to tell them that I bragged to you all!

TheTeaFairy

No brag, just pure grandma love and pride :-) brings tears to my eyes when children are given a second chance at life…your daughter deserves a nobel price!

TheTeaFairy

oops, I meant «prize» of course!

Bonnie

I’ll tell her that, we’re going out to tea tonight! The boys came over for Chai and Ninja Lego Adventures. Watch out for me. I know boy stuff!

TheTeaFairy

Have fun, I know you will pair this Ninja adventure with the perfect tea!

Thanks DHart1214 for this tea sample!

I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned WHY I write about being ‘OLD’. Maybe I have and I’ve forgotten which is something I chuckle about to myself. My short term memory just isn’t what it used to be.

I write about what ‘OLD’ is like so you’ll know what your parents, grandparents and your own future might be like one day. Nobody seems to want to talk about ‘OLD’. It’s not a dirty word!

If I want to drink caffeine and stay up late I can, sleeping in without worrying about being late for work. It’s great!

I don’t have much money but I look forward to the little things in life like being with family, the next cup of tea, a trip to my Tea Pub, free events in Old Town and at Church. I love my daily routine spending time with my Steepster friends.

Towards the end of the month my funds get tight right before my monthly Social Security Disability Check.
Before it arrives my pantry begins to look a little bare. This is when I become creative.

If you read last evening’s tea review about the pumpkin risotto pancakes, that was one recipe born from of running out of breakfast cereal. I got creative and made enough pancakes to last for a few days.
Today, I’ll make soup for lunches. On my patio Kale is ready to pick from one of my long planters again, another way I’ve added to my on-hand diet this year.

Life is good.

This morning, I decided to make some bread before having tea. This didn’t take long and I topped the bread with Sea Salt and Greek Dry Herbs.

As soon as the bread was cool enough, I sliced it, buttered a piece and ate it. Um, good.

I made a small pot of Immortal Nectar loose Puerh, rinsing it off lightly, then steeping about 1.5 minutes.
The fragrance was sweet and the liquor fairly dark brown.

I wouldn’t call the flavor earthy by my Puerh standards, but it was sweet, savory and smooth more like a good coffee. Maybe an Italian Roast. This was really tasty.

Another slice of warm bread and I couldn’t help treat the Puerh like a cup of morning coffee. In went cream and sugar which was perfectly delicious, rich but still robust.

I’d definitly drink this as a coffee substitute. If you are squeamish about Puerh’s, this is tame. Not too earthy, no mushroom or cedar flavor and not fishy at all.

What a lovely start to my day! I have so much to be thankful for.

Terri HarpLady

I love the name of this tea. I’m going to have to try some of this, just because the name is so beautiful!

Terri HarpLady

As was your review, Bonnie. And I love your new pic!

Whispering Pines Tea Company

I wonder if this is the same as Immortal Nectar from Art of Tea? Sounds quite similar. Interesting :)

Bonnie

Terri, this is how people see me most of the time with dark glasses on because of how light makes me sick. Even indoors at home my reading glasses are tinted and I have a blackout shade on the window or I can’t be in the living room or kitchen during the day without nausea setting in. Glasses, glasses, glasses.

thanks for this one, Will Work For Tea! Your tea clear out was amazing! I love that this is a blend of black & green teas, as well as jasmine & passion fruit. The steep color is a light amber. I steeped for four minutes, but I think there is something a bit off about the passion fruit flavor that I may have steeped too long. But that may be because there is so much passion fruit essence! It is good though! The passion fruit is stronger than the jasmine. I have had better jasmine teas, but I don’t think I’ve had any other passion fruit teas. The flavors are very smooth and really lingers on the tongue. I couldn’t really tell this was a black tea, if I didn’t read it on the package. I guess it’s better that the flavors were not overpowered… but that would have been tough to do with this one! This would be delicious iced. I have a tiny sample of this, and after pouring some into my infuser, I realize even this tiny sample will make many cups. I REALLY have too much tea. I’ll just have to keep drinking!

Thanks go to The Persimmon Tree Tea for this free tin! Dry, this tea smells like a fresh coconut, and the leaves themselves are BEAUTIFUL- I love the mix of flowers and tea leaves. Steeping, you don’t smell much at first, and then I was quickly reminded of coconut rum- I’m humming beachy songs as I type :) Also, this is my first ever white tea, just so you know.
My first sip is quite lovely- the coconut is strong, but you can also taste the tea, and it’s got this great creamy taste too. I’m drinking it neat(no additives), which I have to admit is not my usual MO, but it’s really quite nice. A very fruity blend, that’s for sure. And I agree with the characteristics listed for this tea- it’s refreshing and mild, which is a nice change from some of the teas I’ve been sampling lately. I’m definitely going to keep this one in rotation a while!

This is my go-to tea for iced tea in the evenings. Yes I realize it’s winter, but I’m still drinking iced tea…in place of diet sodas, especially in the afternoon.

I resteeped this twice – so I got three cuppas from one infusion. Nice! That’ll help since I’m running this one out…

Had this iced last night for my sore throat (cold helps me for some reason). Not much to say about it – it was delicious, a minty, refreshing tisane. Hit the spot and didn’t keep me awake, although my coughing did.

Sorry you are feeling yucky. I hate not sleeping because of a cough. :(

KeenTeaThyme

Thanks – I’m heading home to make some iced tea and chill on my couch with a week’s worth (or close to it!) or Y&R. :)

Kittenna

I feel your pain! I’m not coughing too much yet, but was kept awake because of tickles in my nose and being unable to breathe. Stupid sickness!!

Bonnie

You two poor dearies! Get well and drink your tea!

I hope you feel better soon!

Roobios blends usually lack flavor for me, so I may have added more “tea” then necessary. Nonetheless, I’m getting a strong orange flavor from this and it’s quite pleasant. No sweetener needed. I’m not sure now enthusiastic about the rooibos base, but it’s not bad. I bet this would be good iced.

Oh, and there’s hibiscus in here. And as a total hibiscus hater I’m not tasting any of it. Or it’s meshing very well.

Made sure there was a caramel chunk in the infuser (I think there was only a single one in the package) and the result is pretty tasty. Slightly mariney green base with a nice, lingering caramel sweetness. Familiar, possibly because I’ve had caramel chunks in blends before and it’s a distinct flavour, but I can’t pinpoint a specific green tea-based caramel tea that it resembles. Anyhow, I like the caramel, and the base is ok for a flavoured green, so I’d drink this again. Hoping that the caramel chunk isn’t responsible for all the yummy flavour, though…

This is a backlog from a few days ago. Unfortunately I failed to take good notes about this tea, but I do remember that the flavour was quite reminiscent of creme caramel rooibos teas (which I thoroughly enjoy), although there was a definite sencha flavour that I was able to pick out. However, I decided that although this is good, I’m likely to stick with straight rooibos versions if only for ease of infusion. However, this tea is quite tasty, and I will happily finish off my sample packet (paying close attention to infusion time/temperature!)

thanks TeaEqualsBliss for including this one in the trade! What the… I’m looking at this list of ingredients and the only one I’m tasting is chamomile. My nose is a bit stuffy right now, I guess. This tea does leave my tongue tangy and sore, don’t know why. And there is a very silky quality to the tea. I’m surprised I can’t find the ginger or the peppermint. Isn’t ginseng supposed to energize? But then the chamomile is making me fall asleep. Really weird.

I forgot I had this one! It’s pretty great when you find a new tea in your stash. Anyways, this is an interesting tea. When I first poured it I thought it had a beautiful color! Kind of a pinkish then turns into a light brown. The flavor is very crisp. It’s very sweet, too. There is an undertone that reminds me of chamomile. It’s very subtle but it’s delicious! I’m getting a little bit of a bitter, dry aftertaste but it kind of adds to the flavor.

The last time I tried this it was much better. This time, I got very little “mandarin” and mostly a stinky gym sock kindof flavour. First steep was bearable. Second one, not so much.
Last time I added agave so perhaps that was the difference?
Either way, my rating is being lowered :(

CupofTree

oh man, not the stinky gym sock :(

Indigobloom

you know it?! terrible!

ashmanra

That’s more Bleh than meh!

CupofTree

well, I think more along the lines of a stinky armpit, but I imagine the stinky gym sock is quite similar. :blegh. lol (i’m not referring to this tea though)

Azzrian

Yikes! Wonder what happened!!! Crazy – try it with the agave again though. This is one of my fav’s from them.

Indigobloom

LOL armpit! eeeewwwww. but yeah, happens every once in awhile, can’t love em all :)
Azzrian, sadly I got the same flavour last time but the agave simply covered it up. Ended up giving the rest away. Oh well c’est la vie! :)

Sil!! thanks for the sample! I likey.
Not what I was expecting but still very good. The first infusion was alright, very smooth with only a slight citrus punch. The oolong was light, airy even. Not bad.
The second steep however… wow, tart mandarin orange?! YUM!! So good. And more of the same in my third.
My rls is acting up badly tonight, so I’m gonna make this note a hasty one. I still have one more to post… must get through them all!!

Hard to believe i’m the first to review this on Steepster, especially since I know that according to their website Azzrian has tried this! However, maybe something happened in the database or something. In anycase this is a lovely chai. I don’t make it with milk or honey – it’s straight up for me. This particular Masala Chai is very smooth and blended well. It wouldn’t be my go to chai, but in a pinch it will do. I prefer the tastes that are in verdant’s chai but this is still a really nice blend. I really enjoy trying different chai’s to see how different companies blend the spices.

drank Sencha by The Persimmon Tree Tea Company
11287 tasting notes

So I’m fairly inexperienced with Senchas, so keep that in mind. I can get behind this tea though. Theres a vegetal taste to i, but it’s not so overpowering that I can’t handle it. The tea is a lovely yellow/green colour as well. This was one of my samples from my Persimmon tree order that I hadn’t had a chance until now to try. I’d order this again as a light refreshing tea :) Oh and in case you weren’t already aware, the Persimmon Tree Tea samples are a great size, allowing for multiple cups to get acquainted with the tea!

Azzrian

They also have an excellent loyalty program!
