I decided that I wanted to try something new, so I took this out of the cupboard. First impressions were of ginger and almond. Smelled like it needed some sweetner and milk!! The rooibos was very fine, so I brewed it using a paper filter. I tried some straight, and decided to add some vanilla stevia and some vanilla coffee creamer. (I wanted to add milke, but it had gone sour!!)
Very nice, I imagine this will be good mixed with some of the other teas I have in the cupboard to spice them up some!
The leaves are a green color. This tea is astringent and has a complex woodsy floral taste, a very floral taste. It’s slightly bitter yet has a punchy after taste that I can’t put my finger on. On the second steep it isn’t as bitter. I didn’t enjoy the third steep very much.
Preparation
Looks like potpourri in the canister. Orange peel bits, flowers, bits of I don’t know what. Makes a beautiful red liquor. Smells like sour cherry. All I taste is hibiscus, and a little orange. I don’t even taste any tea, but I know it’s in there, I saw the leaves. I love hibiscus, but if I wanted hibiscus tea, I would drink Passion tea from Tazo. Maybe if I relabel the canister and come back to it later, I can trick myself thinking it’s hibiscus and enjoy it.
My first tea of 2010 is this one. Three balls in the mug and 3 min steep. Brew comes out a deep golden amber. With a little sweetener this is a great cup. Flavoring is bold and reminds me of a Golden Monkey with a little malty, woody, and caramel-y notes. There’s no bitterness or astringency and makes for a great morning tea or anytime.
Preparation
I needed the extra caffeine, so I made a matcha latte with a dash of cinnamon and a little honey. Yum!
I’ve never had their matcha… the closest one is 2hrs from me so I’d have to go when I go to the airport or something.
It’s a trek for us as well, so I usually just order online. I don’t have to deal with the salespeople that way either.
So I found a bit of this in the back of the cupboard, I was sure I had already finished this up. Well, nope. So I made this iced, since it is still mid to upper 90’s here in NorCal. Iced Earl Grey? Not so bad, the floraly citrusy notes are very crisp, crisper than in hot EG. Still a great aroma, still refreshing.
There is not much left, so I’m going on a Iced EG spree until this is gone. I got this tea ages ago, it can’t be good for much longer.
I’ve been on a mission to clean my tea cupboard, because I went on quite a few tea shopping sprees. I am trying to refrain from buying any more until I empty my cupboard some, but that means my “wanted” list keeps growing longer! It’s a vicious cycle…. :-)
Sweet, woodsy aroma in dry leaves, but tisane flavor has strong cinnamon top note—like cinnamon red hots. Brewed as recommended by Teavana: 1.5 tsp/8 oz. Overall, flavor is not as strong or varied given the additions of almond, peach, pear, and apple in the blend. A bit of sugar may help—
Take 2: Infused with some rock sugar. Cinnamon aroma with apple notes and maybe a bit of pear sneaking through. Still retains the tartness of the rooibos, but the fruit flavor is more pronounced. This would be great iced for summer, thus the improved rating
Preparation
As stated in another review (Anji Duet) I have been a green tea drinker for some time. This has been one of the green teas of choice. It has a well balanced flavor, even when severely over-steeped (as in my old crude method of dropping leaves in the bottom of a cup, adding hot water and drinking at my leisure). This tea is ideal and an absolute staple in green tea, especially beginners because it is always delicious. It is good hot or cold, sweetened or unsweetened, during the 1st, 2nd and 3rd steeps and so on.
Preparation
Had this again today with the orange juice. It is really, really growing on me. I added a full tablespoon of matcha and 8 ounces of orange juice, whisk the hell out of it, get a dark green thick, foamy matcha. Wonderful.
I raised the rating on this today because I am seriously considering buying some more because now I am almost out.
Previous rating: 72.
Needed a pick me up a little while ago, took a generous tea-spoon of matcha, added about 8 ounces of orange juice, whisked for a minute or so, making a nice gentle foam and breaking up all the little chunks of matcha.
Sweet and though it is orange flavored from the orange juice, it is not bitter or tart like I tend to find with Mandarin Matcha. This was nice, cool, refreshing and got the job done. Feeling another one, really soon.
I do when I make it with water, especially compared to when I make it with milk or protein powder, it’s a little disappointing, but that’s why I work around it with the alternatives. This was just easier and I was feeling uber lazy!
I think so, might just really not like matcha with water, I rarely, if ever have matcha with just water nowadays :)
