Cold brewed the rest of this sample from Roswell Strange overnight and I am still getting creamsicle from this blend. It is a touch more muted in this cup than the last but it is still very good. I might need some more of this one. Thank you for sharing Roswell Strange!! You always find such great treats :). 162.
This was recommended to me as a tea that’s good iced – but I had to try it hot first. The flavours are interesting – distinctly fresh with a slightly sweet, hay-like quality. It’s a bit herbal though not as much as I would expect with those ingredients. It’s all very smooth and pleasant – and I’ll definitely ice my next cup to see how it is.
Also, despite the name, it doesn’t contain any orange flavouring – I think the ‘mandarin’ part is supposed to be in denotation of the Chinese origin of the herbs (ginkgo, jiao gu lan).

thanks for sharing this one Roswell Strange this just add to my suspicion that mate is just not for me. I like mint but on the whole mate just has this weird strange taste that i can’t get behind. it’s WEIRD…like licking hot asphalt or something..i dunno it’s just REALLY present and what i always taste with mate. But i’m glad i tried it heh ’cause you never know!
Oopsy you are correct, checked the outside bag. This is from Roswell. So used to it being from you, I thought I’d finished hers heh
I had this one today and i wish there were more tasting notes on it because i swear that there was a peppery feel to this one or some sort of spicy note going on. It was really interesting and i quite enjoyed it. I’m just curious to drink this one again since i’m hoping i didn’t imagine it lol. This was one from omgsrsly thanks a bunch!
Another one from the generous MissB!!
A lot of these teas really appealed to me, so it’s great I got to try them. I’m able to cross a bunch of teas off my wish list :)
This one is definitely rich dark chocolate, but VERY earthy. Super pu-erh taste.
Not really my sort of thing, chocolate dirt. But I can see how someone would like it!
The pu-erh combined with the chocolate kind of reminds me of an Oreo. A dirty Oreo. Very similar to their Oreo pu’erh, actually.
Thanks again for the sample!
(Sorry everyone, I’d accidentally logged this under Davidstea instead of Tea Desire)
Meh
I’m just logging this so that I remember drinking it
Nothing is really standing out while it’s hot. Just another flavoured black tea.
Thanks to MissB for sending some along!
I think I’m definitely moving in the opposite direction of a lot of these teas.
So this is the one that I got as a latte To Go. I was sorta leaning towards Walnut Truffle initially but then I thought “Fuck it, I’ve had Walnut Truffle and I know I like it – lets do something new!”. Honestly, I’d never given this one much thought at all but it was the first thing the sales lady suggested and dry it smelled very flavourful if not a little weird as something to pair with milk.
It was basically very strongly fruity with juicy mango and papaya notes and some creamy peachyness to it. Not something I’d typically think to pair with milk; but I often like weird so hell, why not?
I actually had it with Soy Milk because that’s all the store had atm; and that was kind of weird for me because I typically don’t drink soy milk in anything; I just don’t like the flavour. I was worried that automatically all I’d say would be the soy and this would be unpleasant. However, it was really delightful! It was certainly very flavourful with very rich, juicy and intensely creamy mango, papaya, and peach notes. There were also very faint orange notes playing along with the other notes too. The mango was probably the most prominent flavour though.
It was smooth and juicy with lovely tropical notes in general. it’s a slight bit more on the candy sweet side though than the natural, realistic one. Also, apparently there’s pineapple in this, but I didn’t get that from it which is I guess a bit of a shame; I think I’d have enjoyed that element. I don’t know – I just felt really satisfied with the whole cup; it was smooth with no astringency and really different. I don’t think I want 50g of it but I’ll probably add this to my “line up” of Go To flavours to get “To Go” when I visit Tea Desire…
EDIT: Oh hey, this is tasting note 1600! I guess 1666 is my next fun number? I’ll have to find something devilish for that note…
Flavors: Cream, Mango, Orange, Peach, Tropical
So I sent out the SSTTB today to OMGsrsly! Here’s hoping it makes it to you efficiently! I also took out my rent money, and then because Tea Desire is in the same mall as both the post office and bank I went to I made an unscheduled trip there, and of course I bought some stuff.
I’m actually really proud though because I only ended up getting another Adeline infuser mug (they’re just so pretty!) and a latte – I managed to walk away without getting suckered into picking up any loose leaf for at home. Go me! The new mug is a pretty white colour with a golden trim and show pony on adjacent sides with a ‘covering’ in teal and blue. I should take a picture of it once I make something in it…
This isn’t what I got as a latte though; it was the sample of the day and since I’ve never had it before, and because I recently had my first Tulsi tea and am curious to try more stuff with Tulsi in it I took advantage of the sample and had a small “shot glass” worth. I think overall I wasn’t too super impressed; I tasted a little lemon and there was some pepper notes either from the rooibos base or the peppercorns, and then the Tulsi came through more in the mid sip with an offbeat mint flavour alongside what felt like lawn trimmings? Lastly the whole thing ended with a little licorice sweetness.
The whole sample just felt a little busy to me, and I felt like the flavours were not all meshing together to create one whole, smooth feeling. I suppose I can see where some people would maybe enjoy it but while it wasn’t terrible it just wasn’t for me either.
Flavors: Freshly Cut Grass, Lemon, Licorice, Mint, Pepper, Tulsi
That’s weird. I could have sworn I’d done a tasting note for this tea. I had it at a friends house shortly after purchasing it, and drank it ALL. I refused to share!
This is another very orangey tea. I love citrus teas, especially in the summer. I wouldn’t say this is like a sangria, really, but rather it’s reminiscent of Tang (Thanks, CameronB!). It’s mostly orange, with some pineapple, lemongrass, and hibiscus.
Today I iced it, and added a little honey. I don’t think it needed the honey – the pineapple is candied, so there’s already sugar in it, AND there’s not a lot of hibiscus. I think most of the colour comes from the beetroot. I like it hot and plain, as well. But it was a lovely day today and I went hiking, so iced teas are feeling just a bit more refreshing right now.
(Hot steeped, poured over ice to make 16oz.)
Flavors: Lemongrass, Orange, Pineapple
Preparation
Another Tea Sparrow subscription box tea
I also had this one as an iced tea. I’ve never had a bamboo tea before, and I quite like this. It’s quite fruity. I also really like the lemongrass in this.
One from Roswell Strange I have so many samples in my house at the moment that i’m finding it hard to focus on sipping them down, so for the time being until i get my drink back on, i’m content to just try a few each week, gradually whittling them down. I picked this one because i was curious as to what “Victorian MiSt” would taste like…yeah..that’s right. MIST…riiight up until i poured water on it and went. oh..OH…MIIINT. lol
So this one is pretty nice. I don’t need many mint teas in my life, so i don’t feel the need to stock this one, but it was pretty tasty. I enjoyed this tonight while finally watching the last episode of Warehouse 13. thanks Roswell!
Roswell Strange sent this one my way and i opted to try it with dinner. this is a rather pleasant raspberry tea, and i’ll even forgive that it’s an oolong :) I think this would be really nice in summer as a cold brew given the way that the rasberry flavour seems to be coming out in this one. I had a plesant time with this one, reading on the balcony in the sun :)
You’re thinking of a different Raspberry blend, VariaTEA. The Raspberry tea with a white base and wool flowers from Cuppa’T was definitely the one with strong coffee notes – this one is buttery and pastry like.
Another tea from roswell strange that i’m finally getting around to trying. this one wasn’t half bad, though i prefer the versions that i’ve had that were not caffeine free aka black tea base! I find with a macciato sort of taste i want the depth of a black tea base. that being said this was still pretty tasty with the coffee bean coming through in the brew. I probably should have tried it as a latte but didn’t. heh. I wasn’t as creamy as i would have liked it to be. thanks though roswell! this was fun to try!
thank you roswell strange this was one of my teas last night, sitting on the balcony chatting with the first of our friends who came over. Sadly, the larger group didn’t leave until almost 2am so i can recall absolutely nothing about this tea except that i downed it and kept looking for me, so i’ll take that as a win haha sooooo appreciate the share Roswell lol wish i had a better note for it, but i DID really like it
so. Mate and i, we don’t get along…..usually. In this instance, this tea makes it work. It’s not going to be my favourite tea but this was pretty enjoyable. It’s got a good taste that blends well with the mate without leaving that taste in my mouth that i dislike strongly.
Thanks for letting me try this one Roswell Strange
Somehow I’ve had this a handful of times since I bought it late last year, however I’ve yet to review it. This time, I’d decided prior to steeping it that this would be an all or nothing kinda thing. If I liked it, I’d keep it. If I didn’t, into the swap box it goes.
… and into the swap box it goes! I’ve brewed this way too long, yuck. I’ve now brewed it for just over a minute, and while it’s more flavorful, I’m just not feeling it. Little to zero ginger, and the peach just tastes like something other than what I was looking for.
Flavors: Fruit Tree Flowers, Malt, Peach
Preparation
VariTea sent this my way and it was off my wish list (at least I think it was V…if it was RS, apologies!) I had high hopes for this one but sadly all I’m getting is toffee flavoured wood. Bah. This is the sort of rooibos that I’m. It a fan of unless it’s spectacularly blended so a a not to be all, hey sil…go lick a tree for this taste :) oh well…good to know and be able to cross off my list. Hehe
This one WAS from RS – checked this morning…so if there’s more in the here’re from V, then I haven’t come across it yet lol
roswell strange sent this one my way and it’s a good thing I’m drinking this sick lol I think. There were some massive rose buds in thinks that admittedly I dug out before brewing. It was a nice enoug cup, but not something I need to stock in my cupboard. I think?? I prefer the tea from Cornelia bean of he the same name, though this was a nice light fruit tea.
FInal Count: 219 (not bad 20 teas over the weekend while i was sick!)
It’s good cold brewed; the rose is less noticeable. Tea Desire loves adding big chunks of things in their fruit blends though.
2 days of sleeping almost non stop and i’m finally feeling a bit better today though my cough is no hell. Working from home so that i don’t get anyone at the office sick.
Roswell strange sent this one my way and i was a little excited to drink it, especially after she corrected my cupboard to get the right tea in to it… turns out i like this one a lot. while the banana tea from Rivertea is basically liquid banana bread – this one is a little less sweet and slightly less intensely banana. i attribute that to the chocolate. still not a huge fan of the weird looking tea is produces, but i did enjoy this a lot. and in the grand scheme of teas, i’d probably be able to drink this one more often than the river tea one because of the fact that it’s a little more laid back. :)
This is less sweet than Happy Banana?! Now I am afraid of what Happy Banana will taste like because I found this incredibly cloying.
