Ordered skinny, no whipped cream, and half the pumps of syrup. I like it sweet but not too sweet, this is much better. Had this on the drive to more testing for my disability claim.

Last night we had a storm roll through. My wife and sons had spent the afternoon moving rooms around so I could have a music room. Yeah – man cave. With my oxygen and my back I had to settle for watching. With the storm we lost power. So we went out for supper. Later when we had power back, the garage opener decided to fry – literally. It was smoking. Today I went looking for a new one. Which brings us to tea. It was so hot and humid that this icy treat was much needed. I asked for sugar free but apparently our shop can’t do it that way.

ashmanra

The matcha is premixed with sugar, so that is correct. They can make it with no additional pumps of syrup, but it can’t be sugar free because sugar is the first ingredient listed on their Tazo matcha mix!

K S

I remembered you telling me this. They were busy today and I was backing up the line so I finally gave up trying to explain what I wanted. and just told him to fix it skinny with no whipped cream. I will try again next time and say no extra pumps. Why do they need their own language? I’m pretty sure I’m not hip enough for that place. I’m more hippie. That’s why my wife usually does the ordering. :)

I think I’m about over this one. Way too sweet today. Not sure what I could order different. Any non-coffee icy ideas?

Sil

hmmmm are you looking for a frappacino? or anything cold?

Stephanie

I bet they could make it with less syrup…maybe!

K S

I get this without whipped creme and skinny. I think that means 2% milk and sugar free syrup, at least my Starbucks geek wife told me. I do need to see if they can use less syrup.

I looked at their webpage and I may try an iced green tea lemonade or an iced earl grey latte. Either could be fun. I am generally not much for chai.

Sil

Passion tea lemonade with no syrup would = less sweet

Mercuryhime

Not tea but I enjoy their Cool Lime Refresher. Like a less sweet Virginia mojito.

Mercuryhime

Virgin… Autocorrected.

K S

lol. I read right on past it. I have no idea what it is in either case but Cool Lime Refresher sounds awesome.

gmathis

Has nothing to do with tea, but Denny’s is advertising a lemon ice box pie milk shake. Hubby and I have a date planned…with two straws.

ashmanra

Their matcha is already presweetened. Tell them NO SWEETENER and it will still be very sweet!

It’s Thursday. That means green tea frap. Even my sweet tooth had too admit this was too sweet today. Tasty anyway.

I just realized I am a little more Sheldon than I care to admit. Saturday is Mother Parker OP tea. This is Thursday so it must be green tea Frap from Starbucks day. Different is not good. They say it is, but it’s not. So anyway, Had this skinny, no whipped cream, and an everything bagel smeared with cream cheese. Over priced yes, but breakfast of champions. What an excellent combination.

gmathis

I had the same thought the other day when I sat in my “spot,” a glider with rocking ottoman and told myself, “Ahhh…0,0,0,0.”

K S

Were you sharing the glider with Zazzles… I mean Tazo? Cause I totally get it if you were.

gmathis

Tazo, by semi-mutual agreement, is Outdoor Only. But I do have a back porch rocking glider that qualifies as 0,0,0,1. Hubby suggested last night—a little late since we’ve already bonded—that we could’ve named him Schroedinger. Oh well, next cat.

Nicole

Mmm…. everything bagels are of the gods.

Since I am not working, I have been going with my wife on Thursdays paying bills and buying groceries. I now understand why my wife thinks I am trapped in at least a 20 year old time loop. Wow, the world has gotten expensive. Should have been a 35 year old time loop – the music was better.

The weather was gorgeous this morning. Perfect for sipping on a sweet icy tea drink. I get this skinny without the whipped cream. Today it was too heavy on the syrup and too light on the matcha powder but refreshing none the less.

Now I am off to a meeting to learn to federalize my resume. I believe it is mostly pointless. I know how to write a resume. The problem is I need some skills updating. I can’t get that until fall. Why am I going? My Voc Rehab counselor says it will be good for me. When did she become my mother? My meeting is an hour away, so I guess I am not going to get real tea again today. sigh.

Reading back, I sound a little gripe-y but I really am not. I just want good tea.

gmathis

I am not the regular family shopper, so when I go along for the ride, there’s always some serious sticker shock.

TeaBrat

Good luck, looking for a job is painful, I hope you enjoy some of your free time if possible.

K S

The toys I am interested in, like guitars, telescopes, and computers, I have kept track of what they cost. Ground beef and toilet paper, while both are important :) i really didn’t care what they cost. Until now. Steak?!?! Holy, never gonna buy it again, Batman!

K S

Amy oh – thanks. It wasn’t a complete waste but not the eye opening revelation my counselor tried to convince me it would be. Stopped at a little car hop joint on the way home and had a nice tenderloin & fries. Good eats on a beautiful evening. Life is good.

gmathis

Guitars are outrageous. Hubby builds from kits and even unfinished parts price lists make me woozy. And brand name cereal? Ay-yi-yi.

K S

I bought an outrageously expensive guitar about 6 years ago for about 1/3 list. I may have had to eat a lot of food in a white box with blue letters but I have not regretted owning my personal version of Excalibur and I learned I actually like generic Cheerios better than the real thing.

CHAroma

I don’t mind the gripe. Everyone’s entitled to good tea! I’ve been known to gripe quite a bit on here myself. ;) Good luck with the job hunt!

Cup of the morning while grocery shopping. Had it skinny with no whipped cream. I really like this better than what I rated it but leaving it.

My wife had a hazelnut frappe. I tasted it. The hazelnut was really tasty. This was followed by a swell of roasted coffee. I liked it until the coffee aftertaste kicked in. It lingers and won’t go away. Reminded me of why I don’t drink coffee. If I had something to snack on to counter the aftertaste I could probably learn to like this one – fortunately as long as they have the green tea frappe, I don’t have to.

Today I ordered this skinny (low fat milk – sugar free syrup). The barista added extra ice because they said the low fat milk doesn’t thicken up like whole milk. I could not tell the difference in taste. It was a little thinner. My only experience with matcha and I like it.

Back log from yesterday. Our Internet provider shut us off for exceeding the limit. I felt so isolated. Went to town. It was 30 degrees and snowing. My wife wants Starbucks. Since I never learned to like coffee, I always get some form of tea. Something cold and frozen seemed right today. My wife was excited when we walked in as her favorite barista was fixing the drinks. I have to say it makes a difference. This one is made with matcha powder and it was awesome. Way to many calories but oh so good.

ashmanra

My daughter gets this, but orders it with skim milk and no whip. I think it still has 290 calories that way, but that isn’t too bad and I thought it was pretty tasty.

Nicole

Might have to try this. I always have trouble finding things when someone wants to go to Starbucks.

Janefan

You can also ask for fewer pumps of the sugar syrup. I think the standard is 4, but I prefer it with only 2.

ashmanra

I understand they use vanilla syrup, too. I tried my home made matcha lattes that way and it was pretty good.

K S

Wonder if they have a sugar free syrup? Anyway, the barista may have used extra matcha or else they just opened the tin because it was sooo fresh tasting. A couple hours later I had a jalepeno crunch at Steak & Shake (another major yum). After that had ice cream and blackberry pie at mom’s. Can’t figure out why my gut hurts this morning ;)

Kittenna

I am pretty sure that they do have sugar-free vanilla syrup :) I used to get flavoured lattes on my coffee breaks at work, and in an attempt to be healthy, we always got them “skinny”, with skim milk and sugar-free syrup.

If I had to pick a sound track for today it would be “Doctor, my eyes” I spent 4 1/2 hours observing the coffee culture at Starbucks ;) I had two of these ridiculously sweet things and some ham (they called it bacon), egg, and cheese thingy. I was using their high speed bandwidth to download a 2gb program I need to learn. Too big to download on my home account. Anyway observing the goings on for all that time was amusing. Mostly the young and in love, can’t keep their hands off each other, couples. Plus students studying and surfing the web. I wish their were tea hangouts like this around here. If you have one you are very fortunate.

LiberTEAS

KS: In Portland, we have Townshend’s Tea and Tea Chai Te … both of these are very much like starbucks, only tea! And they know how to store tea and brew tea there, and they know that tea is available and tastes better loose leaf too! :)

K S

This is me GREEN with envy :)

After breakfast at steak and shake we went to ‘The Walmart’ for no good reason, then to Lowes where we replaced our firepit. Had it for several years and the legs kind of rusted out from under it. Not sure if I am allowed to use the new one. We are under a burn ban. Does that include firepits? I don’t know. Anyway, its hot and dry and everyone but me wanted Starbucks. I went along because this is fattening and pretty tasty. Just got a tall and was disappointed I didn’t get brain freeze from it.

By the ratings, I guess you either love this or hate it. Count me in the love it… sort of. No whipped creme, and 2% milk. It probably isn’t too unhealthy, other than the sugar I would have put in it anyway. Did not realize it was matcha until I got here to Steepster. It was cool and fun. Yeah I got brain freeze. Took the day off to look and lawn tractors. Like everything else they are way expensive, just like this tea thingy.

gmathis

Riding lawn gear is wicked expensive. We’re thinking we could just get a goat…

K S

Wife wouldn’t go for the goat idea, but thanks for trying.

TeaBrat

I want a goat. =)

K S

Lamb tastes better ;^) Goat tastes like they smell. Oh, wait we were talking about lawn mowers. Never eat your lawn mower.

gmathis

Didn’t Klinger try that in M*A*S*H? No, wait…that was a jeep.

K S

Just looked this up on Starbuck’s website – venti (24oz) 2% milk and no wipped cream is still 420 calories! Egads! That’s a lot of corn syrup or whatever they sweeten this with.

Ok, so this is sort of my favourite Starbucks beverage. By sort of, I mean that I tweak it up. I am one of those weird customers who comes up to the till and asks for a bizarre order that leaves the barista raising one eyebrow and rethinking his/her choice to work there.

Anyway, this is what I ask for: a Shaken Iced Tea Lemonade (sometimes I don’t bother with the lemonade) with equal parts passion, green, and black tea. So 1/4 each of each tea and lemonade, or 1/3 of each tea. No sweeteners. It’s fan-freaking-tastic. Trust me. The passion iced tea, I find, is a little too sweet on its own, so you get the stronger kick from the black tea and the clean vibe from the green tea. And the lemonade adds some sweetness to it, and a citrus twist, whenever I’m in the mood for that.

Try it out if you’re even in the mood for a cool drink from Starbucks, but don’t want to consume a plethora of calories. Or try it out if you feel like momentarily baffling the employees. Don’t worry, they don’t get angry, just intrigued!

drank Tazo® Chai Tea Latte by Starbucks
1792 tasting notes

I just had a grande the other day, and while it’s alright for a standard chai latte that one can purchase at chains, it’s nothing like the chai that a local chai bar makes (they import all their spices from India and make their delectably dreamy chai from scratch). I know that’s not fair, but I just find this a little too bland for my tastes. I guess I am used to chai lattes that are livelier and bolder. It’s nice and creamy but a little watered down. It’s still worth a try if you’re into chai, though. It’s worth a chai?

The first time I ever tried this tea was a small free sample at my elementary school’s spring fair, and I was immediately hooked. I found myself going to Starbucks the very next day for more!

if i could imagine my dream soulmate, and my soulmate was a liquid, this would be it.

a delicious blend of spicy chai and creamy expresso. granted, this drink is not really a testament to the tea that’s in it, but still something great in it’s own right. only downside is a) price, and 2) it’s the type of drink that needs the magic of a barista to make it. i can’t really see me waking up all groggy, dragging myself outta bed and stumble to the kitchen to brew some chai, then some expresso, THEN take a boatload of ice and blend it all up – only to get a inevitable watered-down mess. eww.

It’s just curious how this tea was created, it’s not naive. It’s complex, strong. It dominates your mouth and your nose with a explosion of a black strong taste of the leaves. It is now my favorite black tea. It’s not just strong, but it is extreme exciting. Should be great with some sweeties like chocolate! Love it. Also I think it contains lots of caffeine, so it’s good to drink at night to if you don’t want to sleep like me now.

It’s getting colder and colder, so I got this this morning to warm up. Unsweetened, of course! It’s yummy, though I know it’s a horrific abomination to matcha purists. Still, I like the subtle sweetness. I find matcha creamy on its own anyway, so this just goes together nicely. And it’s pretty hilarious seeing the looks on peoples’ faces as they wonder what on earth I have in my “coffee” cup.
