This isn’t on their website yet but I will tell you I think it’s going to be a winner!
I appears to have black tea, chocolate bits (and maybe a little powder even), and strawberry!
This is wonderfully scented! Ahhhhh! The aroma alone stands up to this teas name! The strawberry is sweet but not tart. the chocolate is very nice! Milky-sweet chocolate and maybe a little cocoa powder but not enough to really notice…still tasty. I think I can pick up a hint of lemon even…unless it’s just part of the strawberry flavor…regardless…it’s excellent! Really nice! YUM!
I’m really sad this will be my last cup of this. I’m also sad that when I last visited Shanti’s Website they have discontinued many of my favorites including some of their awesome Matcha’s! Whaaaa!
I really need to empty out my one desk drawer and convert it into a Matcha Drawer.
I just might start that now…
I love all of your matcha reviews! I have never tried flavored matcha before and want to start trying a few out. Would you recommend starting with Shanti Tea?
oOTeaOo – Shanti IS one of my faves! But they don’t have as many on their website at the moment…the ones they do have ARE great, tho! I would suggest them or Red Leaf Tea or KaiMatcha, or PureLeaf, or Domo, or Matcha Mountain(s)…just to name a few!
I use a bamboo wisk in a bowl, but I think I might have the amount of matcha powder wrong. I don’t have a bamboo measuring spoon. How much should I use?
The spoon/scoop is not all that important. Basically, a scoop is about the size of a shelled almond.
I can’t really consult you on the ratio though, because I eyeball it. I would add a little bit of water, taste it, and if it’s too thick add a bit more until you reach the desired consistency and flavor.
WOW!!!!!!!
Let me type that again…WOW!!!!!
This is DAMN good! Maybe darned-near perfect! Exactly what I was looking for in a blueberry matcha! The aroma is hypnotic! The flavor is matcha, of course, but a wonderful and perfectly balanced blueberry flavor. It’s berry but not tart and it’s smooth – believe it or not! What a very well rounded flavored matcha!
Dare, I????
DAMN Straight…I DARE…100 rating!
Sha-ZAM!
My tummy’s not feeling so great today, so mint tea it is. This is a very nice mint tea, not too strong for an upset stomach and not so weak that you’d think you were drinking hot water. I like this. I’ll have to try it again when I’m feeling well to really appreciate it though.
Preparation
Thank you to TeaEqualsBliss for sending me some of this tisane. It’s really quite good. Nice lemony flavor that starts out light and develops as I sip. It has a nice, tangy edge to it without being too tart, and it is pleasantly sweet too. Another good one from Shanti Tea.
Yet another tea in my quest for the perfect cup of chai. And yet another that doesn’t make the cut :-(
I can smell the spices in the dry tea, but nothing shows up once it’s steeped. I too taste an odd aftertaste that reminds me of old bags of Red Rose that have sat around for way too long. I need a chai with more kick.
So far, I’m 0 for 2 with the Shanti chai (this and Om Chai). I’ve got one more in my stash; hopefully that one will be The One.
(I have about 2/3 of the tall tin of this tea left. Does anyone want it?)
Preparation
It’s pretty rare that I drink a pure tea (meaning non-flavoured). Today, however, I wanted something different. This is part of a pile of teas that I bought from Shanti Tea through a swarmjam deal.
I’ve never had darjeeling before so I have nothing to compare it to. I can say that I really like this tea. It feels rich and has a nice aroma that lingers after I’ve had a sip. This is nice for those days when I don’t feel like playing with all my flavoured teas.
Preparation
Thank you to TeaEqualsBliss for sending me this tea. This is really good. I wasn’t too sure what to expect from it, since the description on the website isn’t too descriptive, but, it has a very pleasing apple and honey kind of taste. Hints of flower – I taste mostly sunflower and chamomile. A very pleasant tea. I enjoyed it immensely.
Thank you to TeaEqualsBliss for sending this tisane my way.
I am not a big fan of herbal tisanes like this one, but, that being said, this is one of the better night-time blends that I’ve tasted in a while. It is not overly chamomile-ish, the peppermint is mild, and while it does take a while for the anise to kick in, by about mid-cup I taste a lovely licorice note that is sweet and tasty.
Not bad. Not my favorite from Shanti Tea, but, it is doing it’s job.
A co-worker showed me this Oolong. She gave me enough to prepare four cups worth. All I can say is, WHERE did it all go? It’s a really nice, and actually light oolong despite it’s oxidized look. All whom love oolong don’t know what they are missing out on. Try it.
Preparation
Thank you to TeaEqualsBliss for sending me a bit of this tea.
Right… so, most of the lemon teas that I’ve been tasting lately have been a sweeter, lemon-curd-like kind of creamy and sweet lemon taste. This… is not that kind of tea. This tastes like straight up, strong, bold black tea with a squeeze of lemon in it. Not sweet. Just tea and lemon. Some sharp notes from the sunflower. Very simple. But that’s not a bad thing. In fact, it’s rather refreshing.
A nice cup. Good one with which to start the day.
Not really a big night. I’m a night owl, so I usually stay up late (early?) and sleep through the rest of the morning if I can. Mornings and I don’t get along very well. But, I think we’ve finally come to an understanding … I don’t try to do anything except sleep in the morning, and the morning won’t get difficult on me.
This is really good. I wasn’t too sure what to expect from it before steeping it, I thought that the black tea would surely overwhelm the Tulsi, but, that is not the case. After infusing, the spiced tones of the Tulsi filled the kitchen – it smelled wonderful.
It tastes pretty darned wonderful too. The tulsi tastes warm yet crisp and lively. It gives the blend a herbaceous kind of flavor, with notes of mint, basil and a hint of pepper too. The black tea comes through nicely, not overpowering. Delivers a pleasing malty note to the cup, and gives a sense of fullness to the body and flavor.
A very pleasant breakfast cuppa (even if that first cuppa happens to be at 1:50 in the afternoon. Personally, I like it better when the day starts this late. I like sleeping through morning).
Here, the tulsi is different from any other that I’ve tried. I think the Assam just has a way of bringing out these interesting qualities of the tulsi.
Backlogging…
a-MAZ-ing! That’s what this Oolong is. Very flavorful. The Lemon is the strongest note, but hints of kiwi pop up throughout the sip. The flavor of the Oolong is earthy and slightly smoky, and it has a creamy-ish texture to it.
A very delightful Oolong!
Yum! This reminds me of ovaltine. But, I like ovaltine so I am not complaining. It is rich and chocolatey. I made a latte using a ratio of 1 part hot water to 1 part milk. I also sprinkled a tinsie-tiny sprinkling of sugar to it, because it is a cacao powder and it comes off as too bitter a chocolate taste for my palate without the sugar. With that tiny sprinkle of sugar, though, it gave it a very rich chocolate flavor, sweet, but not too sweet, and just enough bitter tones to keep it exciting.
A chawan full of YUM!
Thank you to TeaEqualsBliss for sending me some of this Matcha.
This is incredibly yummy. I made mine as a latte, adding half hot water and half steamed milk to it. It reminds me a bit of horchata which is a favorite Mexican beverage of mine (in fact, I will dock points off a Mexican restaurant if they don’t serve horchata… I WANT horchata when I go to a Mexican restaurant!)
This one is going on my shopping list!
This is what I would consider an unusual yet ballsy flavor! I think that is why I LOVE Shanti Tea! They are NOT afraid to push the envelop! This is neat! Here’s why…
I’m quite the fickle pickle when it comes to jasmine teas. I usually find them either artificial tasting, too much like everyone elses Jasmines, not enough flavor, or too much flavor. Rarely do I find a flavored Jasmine that makes sense. This one is different in every sense!
It has a HINT of Smoke…just a slight HINT. It works well! It counteracts the Jasmine but you can still taste it. It’s almost the best of both worlds. But I think the smoke also adds a bit of a pepper taste to it. It’s truly unique and pretty good!
Interesting on every level. I like it!
If it didn’t say “Ceylon” on the label and if I didn’t see the dried leaves before steeping, I’d say this could almost – almost – be mistaken for an oolong if you were simply judging by aroma and initial sips alone. It’s delicious, but it’s subtle. It finishes the sip a bit more stridently than it starts. I’m smelling the same sweetness my palate’s come to know in various Tie Guan Yins. I can now comprehend how the more processed Ceylon teas get their reputation for notes of honey if this is how they “begin.” More akin to a China green or a weaker black tea as it goes down. Definitely a heavier mouthfeel than a sencha, regular green, or an oolong.
Intriguing! I may need to steep another pot or two to round out my full opinion, but great quality.

Preparation
I’ve tried a few Tie Guan Yins before and this one is in my top 2 choices as far as leaf quality and taste. The aroma is fresh, sweet, and the leaves are truly whole – it only took one steep to see the original leaves come back to life. The oxidation of this organic variety is lighter than some, which might explain the fresh, bright quality I’m picking up from it. More green leaves than browner ones in Shanti’s version, it’s therefore perhaps not as “deep” of a flavor than some might be looking for, but I’ve prepared 28 ounces’ worth of good tea from the 2-cup measure of dry leave. Not too shabby.
If you’re not a fan of traditional senchas or chinese green teas, this oolong would be a good alternative as it retains many “green” vegetal qualities but with a sweetness the regular green teas don’t normally have Almost as if it’s been perfumed, but not as strong as a jasmine.
This Oolong reminds me of a Darjeeling in several ways. It has that muscatel flavor, it is crisp and light, much like a Darjeeling, and it has a lovely wine-like finish of a Darjeeling. There is also a really lovely malt tone to this. Not a strong, overwhelming flavor, just a hint. Overall the cup is sweet, grape-like with beautiful muscatel notes, and a deep woodsy tone in the distance. I’m liking it very much… I’m on my sixth infusion!
No. Muscatel refers to a flavor that is similar to the flavor of the muscat grape (which is used in wine). It is grape-y, somewhat musky, and with hints of spice. Muscatel flavor is often found in Darjeeling, but not so often found in an Oolong.

Strawberry Seduction….Strawberry Tingle…I guess Steepster is ready for Valentines :)
You are making me want to try a new Canadian tea company!
Shanti is AWESOME!!!! Can’t say enough about them as a company!!!
