I’m making crockpot pork BBQ using this recipe http://southernfood.about.com/od/pulledporkrecipes/r/bl88c3.htm so I decided that for the first step, where the meat cooks with just water and salt & pepper for 8 hours, I would use this instead of plain salt & pepper to add that smoked flavor and scent. I was afraid of going overboard, but I did about 8-10 shakes for 4 lbs of meat. I can always add more later, but I’m sure the sauce (homemade by a friend) will be flavorful enough. Here’s hoping for a NC BBQ worth eating!
I’ve had this before, but for some reason never made a note on it. Why? Who knows?
So, with my semi-new chai obsession, I had to get some of this when I ordered from Sanctuary T. They didn’t have it in a teaser, so I took the plunge and got a full tin. I’m so glad I did. The tin itself is very nice; brushed metal and short, it’s very classy. The dry leaf smells almost exceedingly spicy, but has a hint of sweetness.
Brewed up, this makes a dark, rich cuppa. The spices are strong but not overpowering, and I can’t single out just one. Rather, they meld to form a single taste that can only be described as “chai”. And the vanilla really, really makes this blend. It gives it a cookie-like quality; it tastes more like a dessert tea than an early morning blend. I’ve not tried it with milk yet, but I think it’d be very good that way as well.
A perfect cup to have whilst cuddled on the couch, listening to the rain and the thunder.

Thank you so much LiberTEAs for a sample of this!
This smells AWESOME! I love the way the dates smell, specifically!!! The Strawberry and Vanilla are both nice touches, too! WOW! This aroma! I want to eat it! But like, LiberTEAs…I think I will pass based on the murkiness and muddiness to the after infused product. :)
YES – it’s tarty and fruity but there is a smoothness to it that grabs my attention too! And I really can’t get passed that aroma! It’s lovely! It’s nice hot but also good cold…if you have this cold it seems to get tartier as the temperature gets cooler. AND YES…Tartier IS a word…according to the TEB Dictionary! LOL And NO it’s not French.
This is yummy. Fruity and yummy. I wouldn’t want it any tartier tho! Dates…YUM.
I really like this blend a lot, so I just had to enjoy another cup of it before I send the rest off to my SororiTea Sister.
This is so delicious – I love the spicy tone of this. A very well-balanced blend of spices.
Yummy yum yum yum!

Hello Everyone, My name is Dan from Pure Matcha. I would just like to introduce all of you to purematcha.com. The finest Matcha, Rooibos powder, and Black tea powder. You can also purchase Pure Matcha at www.stores.ebay.com/pure-matcha.
Oh… this is NICE!
Perfect for this cold autumn evening. I really love this spice combination, the omission of cinnamon allows the other spices to really sing. It is well-rounded, malty, and very pleasantly spiced.
I like this one a lot!
Preparation
This is GOOD! I think I may have just found my favorite fruit tea (that is, fruit infusion, not a tea blend or a rooibos or honeybush blend, but a blend consisting of only fruit, and perhaps a little hibiscus). This tastes just like a jolly rancher! It doesn’t taste sugary sweet like a jolly rancher, but it has that watermelon flavor like a jolly rancher.
Yum, Yum, Yum!
Preparation
I think I am starting to like rooibos, I can’t believe I am saying this. I must have always been have bad blends or something but recently I have found some treasures and this is one of those treasures. I am so glad that I decided to give rooibos another try. It is creamy nutty, sweet and juicy, and just plain well rounded.
Preparation
For a girl that doesn’t like this sort of fruity mix normally I thought I would get this because I loved the name and to my surprise it was good. Plain, it is sweet first and then tart but the sweetness is a little different than your usual syrupy sweet it is a bit deeper and more complex. Still it was a little too tart for me as I suspected so I added a touch of agave and a dab of tea honey and now it is just delicious. A great juice replacement especially since I don’t really drink juice much.
Preparation
Finishing up the teaser of this that I had gotten. I need spice to open my nose up and help clear my head (though I’m not sure how well it’s going to work against the decongestants). This one is so very nice. Just the right amount of spice on a background of vanilla smoothness.
Back to my blanket and the DVR!
Preparation
Sadly, the keyboard on my laptop is not working. Having to type up my note on my iPhone isn’t all that grand, though it’s nice to have as a backup option.
I really like this blend!! It’s creamy and smooth, with hints of vanilla and caramel. The spices hint that it could have been a chai, but preferred to be more laid-back and mellow. The almonds and pistachios lend it a subtle sweetness, and the black tea base is delish. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone making a Sanctuary T order, and to anyone who finds most chais too spicy.
Preparation
I found this bold and it truly woke me up this morning but maybe too much I am not sure. All I know is that it was bold, hearty, slightly malty. However, it maybe just a little too strong for me so when I am finished, I am finished.
Preparation
I really want to give this an awesome review…but I really don’t want you to go and buy up the stock of this until payday and I can get a tin (I only bought a teaser).
It’s amazingly good. Apricot is the perfect fruit to pair with rooibos. It enhances the rooibos and tones down the woody flavor. The almond is also amazing in this, making it sweeter and baked-goods tasting. This could easily become a regular nightly pot for me.

OMG! I finally got my order from Santuary T that was placed on 10/22 I can’t tell you how excited I am but I still didn’t get the one ounce of the two I ordered of Green Rooibos as promised so I am bummed. Nevertheless, I dung into this first and for a girl that isn’t a big fan of rooibos this super yummy and I totally recommend it. The pineapple makes the first appearance and it is strong and juicy and the coconut sneaks up on you at the end. It is great.
Preparation
I got the Plum District deal for Sanctuary T, and used it to get a lot of teasers! This is one that I’ve been interested in for a bit…I’m currently having a mild obsession with different breakfast blends. English, Irish, Scottish, French, New England…I’ve been browsing all kinds of them at various online shops (it’s a miracle I haven’t ordered them all). So, when I was perusing the Sanctuary T site plotting what to get, and saw Soho Breakfast, I couldn’t pass it up.
It’s a good, solid, robust blend. It’s got a creamy, hearty mouthfeel, and I can taste notes of bakiness (is that a real word?), and something almost like vanilla, but kind of citrusy as well. It’s definitely a good first cup o’ the morning. I think that next time, though, I’ll brew at 5 minutes to see what happens. I have a feeling that this would be even better if it were stronger.
Preparation
I know what you mean about breakfast blends. What is it about them that inspire such completionistism and collector feelings?
It’s like I have to know what makes each of them different. Someday, when I’ve got a solid collection of breakfast blends (I’ve only got, oh, about 6 right now), I plan on doing a side by side, cup by cup comparison so I am able to definitively know the nuances between the blends. I’m afraid the obsession is spilling over to chais now, too…
Finishing up my evening with a cup of rooibos. This is so tasty. I think I will save the rest though for the warmer months ahead because it would be perfect for iced tea.
Here is my full-length review of it: http://www.teareviewblog.com/?p=15146
First of all, I want to say that I absolutely LOVE Sanctuary T. Every single time I’ve ordered from them, they’ve managed to make me feel very special. When I ordered this tea of the week a couple of weeks ago, I just ordered the “sample” size, but, they upgraded me to a tin! And their tins are absolutely lovely! If you look closely, it has a very beautiful etched design. Uniquely theirs. I love it.
And I love this tisane!
It is really beautifully flavored – the apricot flavor is intense, and the almond flavor is very subtle but the sweetness of the almond really accents the apricot very nicely. Really delicious!
Preparation
I was thinking about ordering this one. There were so many to choose from so I guess next order. I am glad it is good.

Yum!
Please do let us know how it turns out. I’ve had my eye on these, and am quite tempted!
I ended up doubling th amout of seasoning halfway through the cook time. I think it added some smokiness. Keep in mind it was 4 lbs of pork which I shredded and added spicy, vinegary bbq sauce to, so it’s hard to say what the overall impact was because it was a bit lost under the sauce.
I am looking forward to using this on pan-seared or George-Foreman-grilled fish & meats to add a grilled/campfire taste. I poached salmon in Lapsang Souchong once and loved it, so I know I’ll be using this again.
