As I’ve said before, I’m starting to think that Ronnefeldt can do no wrong. This is my favourite Nepal – a juicy, fruity tea, full of the smell and taste of dark plums and raisins. I have about two steepings left, and I find myself cherishing this tea, in hopes of making it last longer.
There are signs that another 72 hour ceasefire may be signed, and hopefully the talks during that time will be more fruitful.
Keep calm and drink tea.
Flavors: Plums, Raisins
Delicious raisins and juicy plums in a cup, with a faint echo of astringency, and a silky smooth body. I’m starting to think that Ronnefeldt can do no wrong – I have yet to be disappointed in them.
They have beautiful labels for their tea, as well.
You have made me curious to try some of their teas. I found a place through *OMGsrsly*’s Vancouver list that sells there teas, but unfortunately only in the US and Canada.
Ooo, I see my name! I thought I’d seen the Ronnefeldt teas, but I couldn’t remember where. Thanks for the reminder, yyz. :)
Just in case you were curious, this is the store.

I just love this tea, its beautiful red colour and wonderful taste, with this tea i really dont need any fezzy drink cos when served ice cold on a hot day, it will really make my day. Thanks Ronnefeldt Tea for sure production.
you know you were all desperate to see another tea log on this tea. By the way, i am totally snagging the extra bag they give me in the morning to foist onto random people. That’s right, I’m thiefing (yes i spelled it that way on purpose) tea!
This morning this was a whole lot of yellow flavoured water. I think i’m developing an immunity to this tea, or because i’ve managed to drink my other teas – it’s just not working for me in the morning. I might need to swtich over to twinnings. Thankfully i usually have time in the morning to also make some laoshan black. Just took me a week to get the timing down to have enough time lol
oh man…back to work. I needed something stronger than this to get me going after last nights festivities and the resulting amount of time it took me to get to sleep. Had a pot of this for breakfast and then went back to my room to make several cups of a stronger tea. I should just start bringing my other tea down to breakfast and asking them to make a post for me. :) See previous tasting notes. this is an adequate bagged green. it’ll do in a pinch
sadly caffeine rarely affects me unless i haven’t had anything to eat. Nearly half the day later and I’m still falling asleep. IB – i enjoy coffe quite a bit – well lattee style. It’s just that since the caffeine doesn’t really hit me, there’s no point in paying to drink a lattee when i can have my tea lol
I guess i really should rate this tea. Overall, it’s not a bad little tea, but it’s not great. It’s about what i’d expect from a bagged tea. Another pot of this today. I need as much as i can get in terms of liquid so i’m happy to down a pot of this every morning after my bottle of water and in addition to the juice i also have. Late start to the day but it’s hard to get excited about getting up and going, when you just have work to look forward to on a saunday blech. At least i have a bit of my tea from home to keep me company in the room.
wheee! backlog from this morning and it was pretty darn tasty for a bagged tea today. Not sure if they put something in the water here or what today but it was a good morning. I have been finding however, that the tea that i brought with me, totally tastes different than when back home. I’m sure there’s some scientific reason like altitude or some such nonesense but i’m so tired i could hardly care. It’s green..it’s average…it’s here in china!
It’s bottled water :) so maybe, but less likely when compared to tap waters. You can’t drink anything from the tap here….and even though I’m boiling it, I’m sticking with bottled water. The tree hugging hippy in me dies a little every day when I see how many bottles are being used by everyone ( I can go through 6+ myself without drinking tea) but that’s the way it is…
I feel like i should just log this 14 times for every day that i’m here in China :) I’ve switched to this as my morning tea and apparently i’ve been too buy to really get to drinking my tea in the evening which sucks a lot. Some mornings i get a quick cup while i’m getting ready to go down for breakfast but it’s not happening a lot.
In any case… from the china files for yesterday (or your today, since it’s tomorrow here..haha hello this is the future calling..) anyway..omg i’m a little crazy. Yesterday i got to go to a supermarket that’s in the basement of the high end mall across the street from the hotel. It was amaazing! Pretty much kind of like those giant target grocery stores in the US. and then outside of the supermarket was even more shops. We had a blast and now i have a list of parisienne teas to check oon prices and reviews before i buy them lol
This was my official green tea thi morning that I was given when I went out of my way to specify that they give me not English breakfast lol. I’m thinking tomorrow I go for broke and ask for a gaiwan and see what happens :) it’s not a terrible tea as far as bagged teas go but I am for sure glad I brought my own tea. Especially since at this rate I’m not even going to be able to buy tea here unless its sold at the airport :(
On the upside? Traditional evening meal tonight that was pretty damn spectacular, so there’s no shortage of me trying new food ;)
If there’s even a grocery store anywhere near your hotel, I would pop out to it sometime if you get 10 minutes. The Carrefour near my hotel sold bulk loose leaf tea that was actually pretty tasty!
The quality of the picture for this tea is not the best but I’ve found that this company offers the best teas! Seriously. I have never tasted a smoother, richer or more exotic tea than what is produced by this company. I first encountered this tea in my travels to Sophia, Bulgaria in a five star dining facility. To say the least, I had to find it. There is only one company in the US that sells this tea and they are my saviors! You have to buy by the case but my friends are loving me for sharing!
Preparation

Had afternoon tea just now. I ordered this and my friend ordered Apple Dreams, so we could readily compare the 2 teas. Our conclusion was that this one was less likable than the other. The colour of the liquor was cherry red, indicating that hibiscus was there. This kinda surprised me – just why would anyone add hibiscus to a peach tea?? And peach is not even supposed to be red! The infusion was heavily scented with peach flavouring, which was sweet, enticing but too synthetic. Disappointment came when I took the first sip – there was NO peach flavour at all and I could taste apple instead. I looked into the teapot and saw heaps of apple pieces… I thought my peach tea had got mixed up with my friend’s Apple Dreams but the truth was, it wasn’t. The apple flavour was weak because it was overshadowed by the tartness. Seriously, I needed to rinse my mouth with water every time after sipping this infusion, or my taste buds would be too overwhelmed to taste the food!
You poor thing the tea sounds so disappointing and you were all set up to have a nice afternoon tea party, that really sucks. At least you had your friend’s Apple Dreams to try.
I really cannot stand when tea flavouring tastes artificial its like its always too much.
Yup… everyone says Ronnefeldt is great, but I’ve been disappointed by their fruit infusions repeatedly. I will stick to their choices of flavoured black teas next time!
Sounds like a good idea – it is so hard when people talk up a particular brand and you’re like “this is awful what are you talking about?!” But at least they have something they can offer you in their black tea department.
Some brands/ shops really do excel in particular fields and fall kind of flat in others, but only trying will reveal who’s good at what.
This is one of the better infusions by Ronnefeldt. The notes of apple and lemongrass are equally potent, making it a very refreshing drink. Lemongrass, in particular, does a good job in balancing against the tartness of this infusion, making this a rather sweet and enjoyable cup.
Bought this tea in a market in Augsburg, Germany. As I couldn’t read German, I had no idea about its ingredients when I bought it, but I had very high hope for it cos it had a really lovely, fresh apple aroma when dry. Sadly, it has turned out to be a let-down. The tea is very light and has a very faint yellowish green colour. I can barely get any apple flavour out of it; the major note is lemongrass instead. Not for anyone who wants a fruity or sweet cuppa, but worth a try if you like exotic or herbal tea because it tastes like summer in Thailand.
Praying for peace
I hope this one holds and that there is some movement towards more permanent solutions.
