I am simultaneously disappointed/happy having this cup of tea. Disappointed because I thought this could be a sipdown today. Happy because it isn’t, and I get to enjoy one last cup of my favorite matcha to date!! :D I just love this one, it’s a lovely sweet flavor, and an almond tea that I feel safe having as there isn’t any almonds in it (severe peanut allergy limits trying various nut teas, to those who haven’t followed my other notes on this tea). I have yet to bite the bullet and just try an actual almond tea, but the time might come, or it might not. In the meantime, I will enjoy this cup of lovelyness. SO GOOD. I am going to try to get to some Verdant samples today, but I just had a massive wad of fettuccine alfredo for lunch (homemade, but the sauce still gets pretty thick) so I needed some matcha before I delve into other teas. And oh my goodness, this is still so good. Made it with just hot water, sans sugar. This is definitely going in my next red leaf order, although it probably won’t be for ages, I am too slow at drinking matcha! I love the creamy sweetness of this tea, it’s satisfying and cozy and just so good. See previous notes on this wonderful matcha :D

This matcha is actually probably my favorite of the ones I have! I can’t believe it lol, go from never tasting almonds to loving this matcha, such a surprise! Will have to order more of this, I am having a cup with hot water tonight for a bit more comfort, the guy took me out for dinner so that helped improve my day, and this tea is too :) creamy, sweet and just what I needed. So I am very pleased that Red Leaf included a sample of this for me to try with my last order. I have a severe peanut allergy and have avoided all other nuts as well to be safe in case of contamination. However, I emailed Red Leaf to check that their teas are nut free and they told me that even their nut teas are nut free! The natural flavorings are not actually made with the nut extracts! So since I have avoided almonds all my life for fear of them being contaminated by peanuts, I finally decided to see what they taste like in the form of a safe matcha before I actually try the real thing. I still don’t think I will chance trying a peanut matcha, but I thought this would at least be a step into trying nuts that I am not allergic to without fear. And tonight, I got up my nerves to make this matcha.

So I have never had almonds before lol, except for amaretto coffee flavoring on a few rare occasions, so bear with me for this review! At first, I thought this smelled an awful lot like cherries! LOL, I asked my boyfriend to smell it and he says “no, no, it’s like that almond topping they put on cakes”. Ah, marzipan, which I have never had lol. And then I remembered that amaretto is supposed to taste like almond-y, and that’s what this smells like to me. Yummy!

As for the taste, well, I don’t have a lot to base it off of, but it is super creamy and smooth! A bit of the amaretto flavor and what I expect to be almonds in there too! This is sweet and yummy! And I finally tried something with almonds (kind of)!! I am grateful that I finally have gotten the chance to try an almond flavored item that I am not afraid of getting sick from. Once again, thank you Red Leaf Tea for allowing me to branch out in trying new foods!

ETA: This is really good. I might actually have to order some more of this! It is just so tasty and creamy! Perfect amount of sweetness for me too :)

Sil

thats awesome that they did that for you! :)

mrs.stenhouse12

I know! I still am too afraid to brave any of the peanut ones haha but this is a pretty big step for me! Maybe I will try an actual almond soon haha then I could buy the delicious almond teas I see on here :D

Alphakitty

My bf is allergic to nuts, and even though he knows there is no nut additive in my peanut butter matchas he is scared of trying them! I might ease him in with the hazelnut haha

mrs.stenhouse12

Yeah I don’t know if I would really like the peanut one haha id feel so weird having it, I once had that fake peanut butter and thought I would get sick eating it! Lol just the smell would make it seem wrong haha. Hazelnut would be tasty, i might have to try that one too I’ve never had them either!

Tried this one cold this morning. I used about 3/4 tsp in a 8 oz water bottle and shook it up. I did add just a smidge of white sugar to sweeten up it. I find it is sweeter when drinking it hot vs cold. I think this matcha is good both hot and cold. I just can’t get over the taste, it is so good. I bought this to drink it cold every morning at work. Now something to look forward to at work :)

Mmmmmm. I have been anticipating the arrival of my Red Leaf order just so I could try this matcha. I quite like the taste of Red Bull, and when I heard this matcha tastes like Red Bull I had to get some to try it.
The smell of the dry matcha is spot on Red Bull, the taste is the same as well. Now I don’t think the goal was to set out to create a Red Bull flavoured matcha, but I guess boysenberry is what Red Bull is flavoured with.
The matcha powder is fine and smooth. The boysenberry flavour is strong and mixes well with the matcha flavour. There is a boysenberry aftertaste but it is not unpleasant at all.
I made this tea iced and as a latte, both were delicious. I think I prefer it cold though.
I orderded robust flavour.
Quite impressed with the flavoured matchas from Red Leaf that I have tried so far. Will be making another order shortly.

This is my favorite out of the four flavours I ordered. It tastes exactly like a green apple candy, and goes really well with vanilla almond milk. This morning I mixed in 1 tsp of matcha with a half a cup of DavidsTea White Tiger, and then added hot Almond Milk to the top of my glass. Yum! It is sweet and tart at the same time. I tend to prefer fruity flavours so I knew I had to try this one, and I have to say it is a winner :)

drank Peach Matcha by Matcha Outlet

So thanks momo for sending this. I don’t quite know what I did to this matcha, but it’s quite possibly the most bitter thing I’ve ever drunk in my life. Even sweetened it’s got such a bite to it. I don’t think I’ll be able to finish the cup.

So this is two matchas I’ve disliked to one I’ve liked. Green tea matchas anyway, I still haven’t tried my black matcha that’s waiting for me at home. I don’t quite know what happened between the baggie it was in and my mouth (I only added 185F water and some warmish milk and stirred) but I really can’t stand this.

Try cold water.

Azzrian

the peach by the way is one of the more “artificial” flavors from Red leaf although I still like it. I mix mine with milk, soy, almond, etc or non dairy creamer

Starfevre

It literally felt like it was burning my tongue so I’m not sure cold water would help with that. I only had the one sample anyway so it doesn’t matter.

Azzrian

Oh wow. Sometimes a tea just does not sit well with us for some reason. Good thing it was only a sample! :)

I finally got my first order from Red Leaf Tea last week! I have been able to try all of them now, but I am going to start by logging the one that I had as a latte this morning.

I have been drinking matcha with half almond milk/half water. I got this one as basic grade/robust flavour. The raspberry is tart and the chocolate is sweet, but this is probably my least favorite of the four I ordered. I wish the flavours came out more, I found they got lost in how I prepared it.

I brewed up the last of my sample from Sandy’sCuppa with just hot water, the traditional way.

At first I thought I had added too much hot water because the french vanilla tasted quite watered down. However, after the tea cooled for a few minutes, it was delicious, sweet, warm, thick, french vanilla. For a moment I actually thought I was drinking hot chocolate.

I definitely prefer this one hot.

mrs.stenhouse12

I’ve noticed that too! When the water is too hot I can’t taste much flavor, but when it cools, BAM, it comes out so nicely! :)

Mmmmmm!

Received a sample of this from Sandy’sCuppa. It is super delicious. Dry it smells like whipped french vanilla icing. It has the same smell once brewed. I could hardly wait to try this one.

I am trying to increase my intake of green tea so I started cold brewing matcha every morning in a water bottle at work. I was just using plain matcha, which I quite enjoy. But I don’t know if I can go back to plain after trying this one.

It still has a distinct matcha taste, but there was also the sweet, buttery french vanilla flavour. Quite enjoyable. I still have a bit left over, so I am going to try it hot as well, possibly a latte.

I have my first order coming from Red Leaf, its currently in transit. I am going to be salivating until it gets here.

Mmmmmmm! Thank you so much Sandy’sCuppa!

Rachel J

How do you cold brew matcha? Just mix with cold water? Does it dissolve?

Lala

I mix 1/2 tsp in a 9oz water bottle and shake vigorously to get it to dissolve.

Rachel J

Interesting! Never tried Matcha before of any kind, but I was curious…

drank Plum Matcha by Matcha Outlet

I’ve tried what feels like a hundred of flavors from Red Leaf Tea, yet there are always so many more I haven’t tasted! Thanks so much to KallieBoo for including a sample of this in our swap, I am kind of a matcha addict—especially when it comes to new flavors.

I usually pick the crazy dessert flavors over the simpler ones, yet the packets I reach for on an average day are usually the “plain” fruity ones! Fruity matcha is the best in the afternoon. I love plums, so I am wondering why I never ordered this one… I guess it just slipped through the cracks!

Made in the water bottle shake method this smells so good, kind of like jam! It’s not a fresh plum flavor, more pie or jam: slow cooked and rich! But not heavy, there’s still that nice fruity tang. The grassy matcha is, as always, excellent and delicious. I really enjoyed this one, and I even have some leftover for experimenting—caramel plum matcha? Plum cheesecake? Plum toffee?! The possibilities are endless!

Over time, since this matcha is far too old but I can’t seem to throw it out and must drink it all instead, this Champagne matcha has become very mild. Not bad, just not particularly flavourful, though it still has a bit of a taste in the back of my throat, like my little air bubble burps after big swallows taste more like champagne than it does when I’m tasting it the first time. Which is weird, but whatever.

Trying to drink this up so I’ll be having it every day for a while, or every work day anyway, starting Friday. I’m out of work Thursday because of my medically restricted hours but I should be back full time come Monday and my wallet will be very happy about that.

I think I put a bit too much matcha in this, almost a whole tsp. 3/4 of a tsp is better for me and I should remember that and not try to drink it up so fast that I don’t like any of it anymore. This is still tasty and sweet, I’m just tired of it.

You know, I keep making this and thinking as I smell it “I think I’m finally sick of this and should give the rest away.” And then I change my mind by the bottom of the cup. I don’t know what’s up with that.

Put in a bit more than usual, almost a full teaspoon. Added a bit of sugar to the hot latte and it seems to have worked out well. More matcha means more foam.

When I first opened this this afternoon, I was overwhelmed with nausea by the sickly sweet scent. I definitely didn’t know if I wanted to be drinking it today, but I made some anyway. With a bit of sugar because reverse psychology or something. Anyway. I was happy to drink this, the flavour was better though the smell is still too sweet. I think I’m getting tired of it though. Probably won’t be a reorder.

Added some sugar this time. A nice change.

First time in a while with this matcha that I wished I had added sugar. Maybe I put more matcha in than usual. Or perhaps I’m just getting tired of the taste. Or maybe my sweet tooth is overactive, I did have a muffin this morning for breakfast. Who knows. Note to self: sugar next time.

Drank this without sugar. Something of a rarity for me.

This is the one matcha I drink without sugar, it’s too sweet with it. Still, not quite what I wanted.

Remembered to not put sugar in this time! I got so far as to lifting the spoon full of sugar out of the container but remembered just in time. This has a good taste without the sugar, still pretty sweet and tasty. I think I’ll try to make it without sugar from now on, though that is not the case with all of my flavours, just this one at present. I’m a sugar-holic.

Added a bit of black cherry to my champagne matcha to see if I liked it. Turns out that nope, doesn’t make it better. Not terrible but I forgot that I’m not adding sugar to my champagne matcha lattes anymore so it was overly sweet too. Perhaps next time I will actually read my tasting notes before making it. Bad me.

Azzrian

Have you tried strawberry with champagne?

Starfevre

I haven’t ordered strawberry yet, but I will try raspberry with champagne next.

This matcha is losing it’s shine for me. Too sweet, maybe next time I should just drink it plain. Funny, for most of my life there was no such thing as ‘too sweet’ but I encounter it all the time now, especially with tea. Especially drinking matcha. This one is so sweet normally that it doesn’t need any sugar to drink at all. Better for me, I guess. This was the first matcha I ever liked.
