Another matcha thanks to the wonderful Sil! Raspberry has always been my favourite berry ever since I was a little kid. I have fond memories or being 3-4 years old, spending time with my grandma in her garden picking raspberries off the bush. Then I’d watch her make the greatest raspberry jam ever, with barely any sugar, just enough to preserve it, so it was so tart and packed full of flavour.
As with the other fruity matchas, the flavouring here is on the artificial side. It reminds me of McCain’s raspberry cocktail, at least the stuff they made fifteen years ago. I blended this with coconut milk and frozen raspberries, plus tried it hot, and the former won over in the end.
I’m learning with these fruity matchas that if I do want something fruity combined with matcha, since I tend to prefer matcha cold anyway, the best is to create a matcha smoothie with real fruit and plain or vanilla matcha.
Another one from the fantastical Sil! I tried this both hot and cold with more milk, and I’d say that I preferred the latter, as it was more like a creamsicle. I’ll admit that this was a bit on the artificial side (as is most of their other fruity ones), so I think with these types of fruity matchas, they’re best using them creatively, like in yogurt or baking even.
I also wouldn’t say that it is mandarin, but more like orange. Maybe it’s psychological because I’ll admit that the scent of the matcha reminds me of this scrubby orange industrial-strength handsoap my dad always used to use in his shop.
Going through my cupboard and writing mega backlogs. I had the pleasure of trying this thanks to the lovely Sil! I quite liked this one. A hint of coffee mixed in with some dark chocolate. I especially liked this one as a cold latte.
Ultimately, however, I think I’d rather keep my matcha and mocha separate. While it’s yummy, whenever I want mocha, I want the real thing, you know? But that said, mocha/coffee lovers ought to try this.

I never would have thought to try fig matcha but I figured why not. It has a candy fruity smell and taste. It reminds me of what I remember juicy fruit gum tasting like. I don’t know if this is what candy fig would taste like, never had it.
I purchased this lavender matcha with the “delicate” level of lavender flavor…and I must say I am impressed! I love lavender in my tea/beverages, but it needs to be a good balance and not too over-powering. This amount of lavender was perfect! You can definitely notice the shuttle notes of lavender, but also enjoy the richness of the green tea in this matcha. It’s soft, floral and refreshing. It is a wonderful pick me up in the morning! I personally like to blend vanilla with lavender, so I love to pair it with a vanilla base tea or a little vanilla creamer when I have a sweet-tooth. I would definitely recommend this matcha! It’s perfect for those who love floral teas. You can purchase this matcha through Red Tea Leaf…this is the like to this tasty matcha…

Getting reading to leave town so I had to finish up my vanilla almond milk. I had about 16 oz. of almond milk. Gosh, I’ve got a great idea! Mix in some French Vanilla matcha and pour over ice. Yum, yum, yum!

Okay first thing…This is the FIFTH TTBs for the month of August. !! Are all the planets in the solar system aligning to bring together. All the TTBs started with different people, different order and different times.
I made this with vanilla almond milk and it was delicious. Not really orange, more just a fruity flavor but still really tasty. I can taste the matcha and it is definitely the distinctive matcha.

Hooray, another sipdown! I’ve been trying to be ruthless over the last few months and not buy any new teas, but I suppose my ruthlessness only extends to not buying MANY new teas… I couldn’t resist going into Lupicia in Melbourne the other day, but that’s fair, because who knows when I’ll next be back in Melbourne? And I have picked up a T2 box here or there, but only a limited edition one… I swear. I swear.
I believe this sample came from VariaTEA last year… finally getting to the end of the delicious Red Leaf flavoured matchas and I will be sad to farewell them as they’ve been brilliant dessert options to have around. I’ve cheated tonight and finished this one off at work, where I’ve got access to a lovely big steamer and some delicious soy milk, so it’s Soy Matcha Latte Sunday in my hood. No regrets. Bloody marvellous.
I’m in danger of eating all the ginger kisses, too, if I’m not too careful.
I have been looking for matcha similair to starbucks for a very long time and now I have finally found it. This stuff is AMAZING!! I spend so much money on Iced green tea lattes at starbucks and now I can make my own and save money. This is better than starbucks, very similair but better flavor, I absolutely love it and will be placing another order soon so I do not run out. It is also super easy to make, I scooped it right into my cold milk and stirred it with a spoon and it dissolved super fast, whenever I order fro starbucks their matcha is clumpy. This matcha is super smooth and dissolves easy. Thank you Red Tea Leaf I will be a customer forever!!! Yum, yum, yum!! The company also has super fast shipping 2 day priority. They also sent me a free ample of the caramel macchiato matcha and it was so amazing, never even knew they made such a thing. I am sure I will be happy ordering any flavor of matcha from them they are super yummy. I have been a matcha drinker for many years and have ordered from many companies but nothing has compared this this matcha. They have so many flavors and I cant wait to try them all. I used milk with mine but next time I will try it with water and soo how it is. Love my lattes though
Preparation
Drank the last of this in the same fashion as last night’s strawberry & cream – delicious warming soy lattes! This is far less sweet than last night’s (and it didn’t help that I was bolstering with honey last night and decided not to tonight) but this is definitely my pick of the matchas I’ve tried, and I’m not the only one by the looks of it. Shazam.
A sipdown AND my 800th tasting note, this calls for a celebration!
Another wonderful sample from VariaTEA and this is my favourite one yet, if only because it was a nice surprise compared to the other two. Don’t get me wrong, I really dig the Cookies & Cream and Banana & Cream flavours but this one was less sweet and so it was a nice break from the trend. Less sweet, but still so delicious. Buttery caramel flavours but still such matcha. YEAH!
Goodbye delicious banana cream! I will miss you! You were my favourite! Thank you VariaTEA!
Now, can someone please tell me how to best use my small sample of DT Lime Gelato? Is it best cold brewed, or iced after hot brewing? Or just plain hot? I want to make the most of it!
I got super pumped for a mug of this last night for dessert and then as I was microwaving the almond milk (I’m a classy broad) I remembered I was holding off on matcha until my whisk arrives. Oops.
HOWEVER
Another great flavoured matcha! Smells and tastes like banana candy. No added sweetness needed thanks to the flavour, bed it’s just a real treat. Perfect for a dessert latte. I’m only two matchas in and it’s already reinforcing that I’m gonna have to make a Red Leaf order in the future.
Thanks so much for these samples VariaTEA — they’re knocking it out of my park.
I dont actually own this tea. My friend let me try it so I can only give a half review. Haha. The tea was really good when I had it. I had it with some ice and milk and no sweetner but the milk was a bit sweet. Great tea and worth the buy if someone is interested in this kind of tea.
Being different than the standard rating name that red leaf tea had, I went forth to meet this anonymous matcha with a blank slate on my tongue. Its color is a little more yellow than what the picture shows, I thought of the color seaweed green, more of a muted green. With hot water, it retains its color, froths easily in a few strokes of the whisk, and has no astringent taste to it. Its has a marine vegetable scent, a white canvas taste, such as what broccoli stalk has.
In comparison to the old matcha, Connoisseur is better, at the minimum, preferred.
Flavors: Hay, Vegetal
