Thank you Kittenna for sharing some of this with me! Now all I want to do is place an order with Red Leaf Tea and get some other yummy matchas! I was looking at their site and there were so many options and I seem to be interested in the white matcha as well. I was seeing how things kept adding up and forced myself to close the site lol.

This is a lovely matcha so I am curious which you chose for the base! Yes you get to choose what grade of matcha you want and SO many flavors to pick from! Wow!

This here is so good its not an “in your face” vanilla but just the right touch to allow the yummy base to shine through. I think I have this whole matcha making thing figured out and now I am needing to purchase some more of this stuff. I can’t though as I do have enough plain matcha already but for some reason THIS matcha just seems better – the base itself seems of a higher quality I suppose.

SIGH okay maybe next month. Fingers crossed.

Kittenna

This was the lowest grade, and the least flavouring. I have now tried the green apple and caramel ones, and like them even more than this one!

Azzrian

thanks for the info! Wow it was really good for least flavoring and lowest grade!

Matcha where have you been all my life! I mentioned in another review of Red Leaf Tea’s Matcha tea that my discovery of tea is a very new adventure for me and that after reading rave reviews on Steepster about Red Leaf’s eclectic selection of flavors, I gave it a try. I wonder now how I got along without it. I got my daughter hooked and recently had my son try it. He immediately ordered some for himself. After tasting it, it is not a question of “do I want to order some”, it is more like “how much and what flavors should I order”! Trust when you look at all the flavors they have to offer, it is extremely hard to decide!
My second order came last week and I could smell the wonderful matcha before I opened the box! First up for testing was the Strawberry flavored matcha which you can find here: http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/strawberry-matcha.html
Sweet and naturally tasting Strawberry flavor. In an effort to lead a healthier lifestyle, I find Matcha tea to be so versatile. I added a teaspoon of Matcha, a half a cup of plain greek yogurt & a few fresh strawberries, a little almond milk & ice in a blender and I had a delicious healthy smoothie!

Azzrian

I have yet to make a Red Leaf order yet everything I have sampled from them (from trades) has been excellent! Matcha is just so expensive!

Dhart1214

Yes I agree Matcha is very expensive but I feel it is worth it. With one cup of Matcha equally 10 cups of green tea the benefits are multiple! Red Leaf also has an awesome program to earn free Matcha. You should definitely check it out!

Plus, it’s really yummy!

As I was considering which flavored matcha I would try next from Red Leaf Tea, I was stumped. There are so many amazing flavors! However, this Raspberry Truffle matcha caught my eye fairly quickly and I knew that I had to give it a try. I am a sucker for all things chocolate, particularly super rich truffles of all flavors. I had very high expectations for this matcha and I have to say that it more than exceeded my expectations! You can find out more about this matcha here: http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/raspberry-truffle-matcha.html.

Once again, I was very pleased by the intense aroma as I opened the package. I could have sworn that somebody just opened a very expensive box of raspberry truffles somewhere in my kitchen. The matcha was a very bright green color despite being flavored. I first tried this traditionally as a hot bowl of matcha in my chawan. Initially, the slight bitterness of the matcha hits your palate, but it is followed by an intense and slightly sweet raspberry flavor with the chocolate aspect occurring more in the aftertaste. I love how the aftertaste lingers several minutes after your last sip and I also appreciate that the matcha was very easy to whisk with no noticeable clumps. While this is a super awesome way to drink this matcha, I just had to try it as a cold latte since it is so unbelievably hot here in Texas.

For the cold latte I added a healthy scoop of this Raspberry Truffle matcha and milk into a blender bottle and shook it all up. Once again the matcha blended beautifully without any clump which is something I’ve noticed in other matchas when preparing them with a cold liquid. Although I didn’t add any sweetener, the matcha seems a little sweeter now, but not by any means overly so. I also think that the flavor profile is a bit more balanced at this temperature. The bitter edge of the matcha is almost non-existent and the raspberry and chocolate flavors are more unified as a raspberry truffle would be. It is quite refreshing on this hot day and I was impressed that it didn’t settle out even after being left on the counter for 10+ minutes.

Overall, this is another big success from Red Leaf Tea! Not only is the tea quite tasty, their customer service is amazing. My order arrived within 2 business days! If you haven’t tried anything from this company, you are missing out!

For the past two days every time I walk past my tin of Red Leaf Tea’s Madagascar Vanilla Matcha, I have to stop and smell it. It really is an indescribable wonderful smell!
I have had this Matcha in Red Leaf’s “2 in 1” option combined with Caramel Matcha and it was heaven. This time around I bought each of those flavors separately so I could use them individually or combined. This past weekend, my awesome daughter bought me a Magic Bullet blender because I have been so into making tea based drinks and smoothies etc. Already I have used this amazing flavored Madagascar Vanilla Matcha to make some super scrumptious smoothies. This morning I added it to a peach greek yogurt smoothie and it was delicious. Vanilla goes so well with so many fruits such as strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. Or this Matcha is spectacular all by itself, hot or cold. This flavor Matcha remains my top favorite and I believe I will be reordering this probably every order I place with Red Leaf because you just can’t go wrong with this one. (Perhaps I should give Red Leaf’s French Vanilla Matcha a chance though!)
Besides tasting so yummy, one cup of Matcha tea is equivalent to ten cups of green tea, so the health rewards are astronomical!

This blend (found here:http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/orange-matcha.html) is one I worry about, which is why it jumped in and out of the cart so many times when the new matchas were first released. I love oranges, but I’m very specific about. If it doesn’t taste like fresh oranges, then why bother? For years, until just recently, in fact, I thought orange candies, like orange Skittles or Runts, were put in because they were cheaper to produce because nobody really liked them. Everybody knows that grape and strawberry are the good flavors, right? Wrong. This is what comes from a skewed worldview, folks. But it works out beautifully, because I love the strawberry and grape flavors of the world, and my wife loves the orange, lime, and lemons. So what that long story was winding up to was that if this matcha tastes more like candy orange and not fresh orange, I will be very, very sad. And then I’ll mix it with the French Vanilla and everything will be just fine. And, of course, cranberry is one I must try mixed with the orange at some point. I also have a history of citrus matcha not turning out as good as I’d like (I’m looking at you, Lemon and Peach), but there is a history of my being afraid of blends and having them turn out amazing (That’s Watermelon and Earl Grey) as well. So I’m just trying to keep an open mind!

I’m sitting here with three little cups of matcha to try (Orange, Apple, and Brandy) and I reached for Orange first. I took a sip, chuckled, and handed it to my wife. She doesn’t like matcha, but she likes this one! I knew she would because that first sip is tasty, tasty orange candy. It’s incredibly tasty (as you might have guessed) but it isn’t really fresh orange or orange juice. It’s orange Runts and juicy orange Skittles. Yum. My wife likes it, so I think this might become a morning treat for her, but for me…well, I don’t know! But if I want oranges in the morning, I’ll likely reach for orange juice proper. I have cotton candy matcha, also from Red Leaf Teas, what other matchas do I need? Still, I keep reaching for it as I sit here writing, so maybe it’ll grow on me. It is very good, and if you’re a fan of orange candy, this is one you must try. Not a touch of bitterness, though!

Tina S.

Oh, now this one I have to try!

drank Cola Matcha by Matcha Outlet
1473 tasting notes

This was apparently the box of “things I’m not really that fond of, but want to try in matcha form”. I don’t drink a lot of cola, I’m just not fond of it. It’s too….burny for me, if that makes any sense. Don’t worry, I know it doesn’t. But one thing I do love is vanilla cola. Which is why this was purchased. Vanilla cola matcha for me and cherry cola matcha for the wife. I’ve had other cherry cola teas from other companies, but they were less than stellar. The cherry cola from 52 teas is just horrible, and I’ve nothing good to say about the cherry cola from DavidsTea. But here I am, trying again. Maybe this will be the cola to end all colas. When I was in college and I’d start to feel sick, I’d go buy a vanilla Pepsi and let it go flat overnight so I could have it in the morning…nothing settled my stomach better. So the fact that the cola won’t be carbonated is far from a problem for me, I prefer my sodas flat anyway. I generally only drink cola when I need a caffeine boost, so if I could make my perfect vanilla cola matcha without the hassle of all the chemicals in regular cola, well, then I’m all for it! And then I’ll be on a quest to make a Dr. Pepper matcha.

I got a new teacup with a extremely wide mouth that is perfect for matcha, so I broke it in with this little beauty (found here: http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/coca-cola-matcha.html). I whisked it up, added way too much sugar (oops!), and fell in love. It tastes like flat cola, which is awesome! But it even tingles at bit at first sip, which makes it all the better. I can’t wait to try it with some vanilla and cherry. It’s not really a cola flavor but more of a diet cola flavor, to my tongue any way. Regardless, next time I’m craving cola flavor, I’ll be reaching for this instead of a teeth rotting cola. With every sip, I’m more and more impressed! This really does taste like a cola drink. I’m curious about mixing in a touch of club soda, but I’m worried about the matcha separating. Still, it might be a good experiment. What I love most, though, is that the matcha flavor isn’t lost in the cola flavor, it’s still very present, but it blends well. Well done, Red Leaf Tea!

momo

I think this one has to be my favorite out of all the ones I’ve tried so far.

Daisy Chubb

oo Dr Pepper is king of carbonated drinks! Maybe just mix all the matchas you have together… haha

Ninavampi

I think Dr. Pepper matcha is a great idea…

Kittenna

Mmmmm, flat is definitely the way I like cola too. I almost never drink it though.

Daddyselephant

It is crazy good. I’m going to try it mixed with vanilla today to get me through work, I can’t wait!

Batrachoid

My mother never accepted the discontinuation of Cherry Vanilla diet Coke. Making a matcha analogue of the flavor might be worth the fussing.
Oh, don’t waste matcha with the club soda. It’ll seperate and release the carbonation. The same with adding sugar or stevia. That’s how I get carbonation out of drinks for my family members with Crohn’s or GERD.

Holy cow does this smell strong! Wow. This was a purchase for the wife, who was more than eager to try it out. I make her London Fogs all the time now (equal parts Earl Grey matcha and French Vanilla matcha whisked up with a bit of soy milk) and it’s her favorite way to get going in the morning. When I asked her if she wanted me to order more, the answer was “yes yes yes, please, yes!” and when asked what strength she wanted it, she just grinned. “I’ve always been kinda curious about ’There’s Matcha in There?‘” So super-strong Earl Grey was ordered. I’m a little bit afraid of it, the scent is so, so strong, but I’m not really a fan of Earl Grey. She likes it though. I opened the package and she smelled it from across the room. “Mmmmm, what’s that?” I’m tellin’ ya, she loves her Earl. I’m gonna make her try it straight and let me know what she thinks of it.

She is in love. The taste is indeed strong with this one (found here: http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/earl-grey-matcha.html). This may have earned a permanent place in our cupboard. For me, the lemon is overwhelming, but for the diehard Earl fan, it’s juuuuust right.

MegWesley

I just have to say that the Earl Grey matcha sounds so good!

Daisy Chubb

Sounds delish!
I missed your tasting notes dahling, it makes me happy to see you back for a bit :D

Daddyselephant

Meg, my wife loves it…and she doesn’t even like matcha. You should definitely try it!

This was added to the box in an continuing effort to seduce my wife to the ways of matcha. So far, the best I’ve gotten out of her was “That’s….interesting.” Ah well, more for me. London Fogs, also known as an Earl Grey with vanilla and milk, are her favorite winter drink, so that’s what I had in mind when I snagged this little beauty. That and she’s a sucker for anything Earl Grey. But I’m looking forward to mixing this with, you guessed it, vanilla. An Earl Grey/vanilla was my very first tea, though I’m not much of an Earl Grey fan nowadays. But still, it sounded very tasty and I had to at least try it (found here: http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/earl-grey-matcha.html). I’m a bit worried, after the bitterness of the lemon matcha, but I was worried about the watermelon and it turned out amazing. And we’re big fans of the Earl Grey from Red Leaf Teas around here, so we have a lot of faith in this blend. Their Earl Grey Oolong is one of the teas my wife absolutely cannot do without, and their Raspberry Earl Grey was one of the few teas I’ve actually seen her mourn when it was discontinued. So yes, if there was ever an Earl Grey matcha to get her into matcha, it would have to be from Red Leaf Tea.

Success! We went to the zoo on Friday and my poor wife was only running on a couple hours sleep, so I made her a matcha London Fog and she loved it. Loved it! I stole a few sips of the Earl Grey before mixing it in with everything else and it was perfect Earl Grey, and I knew that I’d made the right choice. I mixed together equal parts Earl Grey matcha and French Vanilla matcha (both from Red Leaf Tea, of course) and whisked it together in a bowl to be sure to get all the lumps out. Personally I don’t care about a clump or matcha or two, but it really turns her off of her drink. Anyway, I heated up some vanilla soy milk, frothed it up, added it to the blend and it was perfect. She loved it! And it’s so much better for you than the regular London Fog, full of syrup and dairy…blegh. This is one I think I’ll have to keep in stock, if only for my wife’s sake, which I am more than happy to do.

And the sailor said ‘Brandy, you’re a fine girl, what a good wife you would be…” Okay, so, that song is the only real reference to brandy I have, and that’s not even the right brandy. Well, that song and the singer from the 90s…anyway. In college, one of my roommates liked to mix (cheap, horrible) brandy with her cola when she drank, and so I’ve had a few of those, but that’s really it. I’m a whisky girl, through and through. That’s what happens when you go to high school in Tennessee and college in Kentucky. But it looked interesting and I liked the brandy I’ve had, so I thought “why not?” If nothing else, it will be good for mixing with the apple matcha. Or the cola matcha, for when I’m having a bad day at work and need a drink but can’t have one just yet. At least I can pretend. But I don’t really have a flavor profile in mind when I try this matcha (found here: http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/brandy-matcha.html), so it will be an interesting experience. For instance, when I try a pineapple tea, I have in mind what I think a pineapple should taste like and I can match the tea up to that flavor profile and see how it compares. With this, I’m just shooting in the dark, though I’m sure I’ll be comparing it to whisky before this review is done.

Oh wow, this is good. This is goooood. Yes, the unnecessary “o”s were necessary. It’s fruity and smooth and…yum. I don’t quite know how to describe it. It’s not what I was expecting out of brandy, but I don’t really have any experience with brandy, so what do I know? I can almost taste a touch of alcohol, but that might just be my imagination. It does seem warming, which is odd since I’m drinking it cold. I love cold matcha and how easy it is to mix. Add water to matcha powder, whisk/froth, and go! Done! Yum. Saves me a ton of time in the mornings when I’m barely awake and trying to get ready for work.

Anyway, yes. If this is what brandy tastes like, I need to try some as soon as possible. I think my father in law has some…it might be time to hang out with the in laws. It tastes kind of like bubble gum but…juicy fruit gum, not double bubble. Definitely one I plan to keep around.

Now, I’m already a big fan of Red Leaf Tea’s green apple matcha, but that one really does taste like a green apple, tart and sweet all at the same time. Which is great, but every once in a while a girl needs a smoother apple, a juicer, sweeter apple, which is what I hope to gain from this matcha (found here: http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/apple-matcha.html). I’m eager to try it as a latte with vanilla soy milk and some of their Cinnamon Matcha…I’m hoping for a apple pie with ice cream kind of drink. I love apples and apple juice, so whenever I spot an apple blend, I have to try it. And there are so many things you can do with apple that I’m hoping to be able to do with this apple matcha. Apple matcha pie, anyone? Or apple fritters with an apple matcha icing…yes, please! I make homemade donuts occasionally…can you imagine a big apple cake donut covered in cinnamon sugar? I may have to make donuts in the near future. I hope this matcha lives up to all of the plans I have for it. And I hope it gives me the energy to follow through on those plans! Because now that I’ve mentioned it, if I don’t make donuts in the near future, my wife will be devastated.

Unfortunately, this is just not for me. The smell of the dry matcha has the smell of the more bitter matchas I’ve had from Red Leaf Tea, and that smell carried through into the taste of the brewed tea. It tastes something like apple candy when you power through the bitterness, which is nice, but far from the apple juice I was craving. I’m not an apple candy type of girl, unless it’s a sour apple. It might still be good as a latte, but I won’t be cooking with it, sadly. Still it isn’t terrible, and the bitterness seems to fade over time. Maybe it will still hold up to donuts, as the amount of sugar in them will balance out the bitterness. I don’t really think this is one I need to get more of, and if any of my local friends want a taste, I’m happy to share. I’ll experiment with what I have left, maybe I can find a way to fall in love with this tea. But personally I’m going to stick with the Green Apple matcha, also from Red Leaf Teas.

Yum yum yum. It has been ungodly hot at work lately, so I wanted a fruity matcha to just shake up in cold water, and this is the first one I came across. I had forgotten how good this is! I loved it. It was nice and refreshing. The pineapple flavor is gorgeous. I think I underestimated this one.

So I have a confession to make. I don’t like pina coladas…or getting caught in the rain, for that matter. They’re too sickeningly sweet filled with tropical flavors built to give me heartburn. I love fresh pineapple, but when I wasn’t on meds to help fight my acid reflux, even looking at one was enough to send me into heartburn agony for a few hours. But now I can indulge and it’s wonderful! Anyway, yes, I don’t like pina coladas because of the creaminess as well, so I’m glad they released a pineapple matcha (found here: http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/pineapple-matcha.html) as well as a pina colada matcha. Pineapple I can definitely get behind. We love pineapple in this house, my wife spent some time in Mexico and fell in love with them there. We even have one of those pineapple corer/slicers, a big piece of $10 equipment with a single purpose that I refuse to live without. I am very excited to be trying this matcha and I’m praying it will help feed in to that pineapple addiction we’ve found ourselves with. Maybe I’ll try it swirled together with some strawberry matcha…I love the taste of pineapples and strawberries together. Or any of the berries, for that matter. They just balance each other out so beautifully.

So after a bit of mental back and forth, I decided to give this one a go. Pineapple can be done well in teas, so hopefully this one will live up to expectations. When I first mixed it up, my wife could smell it from across the room. “That has to be bubble gum or cotton candy.” Nope, just pineapple! It does smell very sweet. At first sip, I’d be hard-pressed to find pineapple specifically, more of an overall tropical candy flavor with a touch of a medicinal aftertaste, like chewable baby aspirin. But in the aftertaste, the taste that lingers on your tongue, I found pineapple. Yum, yum, yum pineapple. I’m not too sure of this one, I’m going to have to try it with strawberry, but it’s got all of the sweetness of pineapple and none of the tartness that makes it so good. I don’t think this is one I’ll be stocking up on, but I don’t think I’ll be forcing it on my friends either. I won’t have any trouble finishing it, but I doubt I’ll get more. Still, I am grateful to have been granted the chance to try it! I just don’t think I’m enough of a tropical fruit fan to fully enjoy it.

drank Mango Matcha by Matcha Outlet
2816 tasting notes

This sample came to me courtesy of Mercuryhime who didn’t really care for it. First off, I had some this morning in a smoothie with banana, frozen mango, chia seeds and soy milk and it is so incredibly good this way! yum! I feel like I am eating a decadent mango dessert, but that doesn’t say a whole lot for the matcha since there are so many other things mixed in with it.

So then I decided to mix it in with some water the traditional way to see what would happen. The color is a brownish-green and is not that attractive. The flavor is swampy and gross – mango swampwater?! lol. This is just dandy mixed in a smoothie but quite disgusting on its own in my opinion. Oh well! I will enjoy it in my fruit!

Work has been so stressful lately… I believe it is driving me crazy. I have a big project in the making and I coincidentally found out that there is another company who seems to be doing the exact same thing. So, I have to work harder and faster to make sure my project gets out there first… The most stressful part is that I am not entirely sure when they intend to launch…. All I can do is my best! Wish me luck!

On to the tea… This tea smelled incredibly creamy today. It was great to just sit and sniff it while relaxing. I love how creamy it smells and the green tea  scent that mingles behind completes the deliciousness profile of this tea.

I still get hints of citrus in the flavor. The aftertaste reminds me a bit of lemon. What makes this tea great, more than the flavoring itself, is the creamy mouth feel. The smell, with the sensation of smooth cream is enough to make you wonder if cream has somehow been hidden in this blend. If only it had a bit more vanilla it would make it into my favorites…

I love that matcha has become a night-time tradition for me. For some reason, I get no effects from the caffein… In fact, it helps me wind down and relax!  Thanks Red LEaf Tea for making it possible for me to get matcha delivered to Ecuador and for fueling my nightly matcha habits!

Hesper June

Good luck! I know you can do it:-)
So glad you have tasty tea to help you unwind at the end of your stressful days.

Ninavampi

Thanks Hesper June! I can use all of the motivation I can get! :)

Indigobloom

Best of luck with that project! this sounds yummy

Veronica

Good luck with the project! This tea sounds terrific. I should probably just give up and give Red Leaf Tea my money. :)

My continuing search for vanilla and creamy flavored teas lead me to purchase a large amount of this matcha. The idea of cream and vanilla as flavoring for already smooth and creamy matcha seemed like a great idea. Red Leaf Tea was, of course, the perfect place to find such a creation. From my experience with their matcha so far, this could not be anything but excellent!

I had super high hopes as I opened the small silver envelope. The first sensation to reach my brain was a sharp scent that was oddly citrus. I had to sniff it again to make sure my nose wasn’t fooling me… Oddly there was still a citrusy scent. It definitely had cream scent and sensation as well, but the citrusy bit caught me by surprise. It smelled delicious, but not vanilla! At this point I decided to do some research on exactly what Bavarian Cream was. Perhaps my expectations of something super vanilla were not quite right…

I think it is appropriate to include a quick background of Bavarian Cream, for those who are not that familiar with it. Bavarian Cream gets its name from its supposed birth place: Bavaria. It is thought to have been first served in the 19th century. It is essentially cream that is flavored with liquor and thickened with gelatin. It is different to other cream desserts due to its thickening process. Most other cream desserts are thickened with corn starch or other thickening agents. Since Bavarian Cream is thickened with gelatin, it can be served in molds of various shapes and decorated with glazed or more cream. Or, if I were preparing it, vanilla liquor (or perhaps a dash of vanilla tea syrup… hmmm…)!

So, it turns out I was confused ! Bavarian cream is not necessarily vanilla flavored! Though, most recipes call for vanilla in a variety of concentrations. With this in mind, the scent is exactly as it should be. Smooth and creamy with a hint of citrus that I assume comes from the liquor.
Once prepared the citrus scent is mellower and the cream is more prominent. It foamed up delightfully as I whisked it. I think that the foam and creamy texture is my favorite part of matcha. My first sip was delightful. I was met with strong green tea flavor followed by a hint of citrus and a bunch of creamy smoothness. It felt like I was drinking a latte! While it wasn’t the vanilla I was expecting, the creaminess made up for it completely! I am super happy I bought the large one!
I really enjoyed this cup of matcha!! I can’t wait to prepare more!

If you want to try this (you really should if you like creamy teas!) you can find it here: http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/bavarian-cream-matcha.html

I’m so confused by this tea. I wanted to fall madly in love like everyone else seems to have. But I’m trying to figure out if I even like matcha, let alone vanilla-flavored matcha. I’ve only had matcha one other time, and it was in a traditional Japanese tea ceremony. It was part of my Japanese Civilization class in college. I think I liked it back then, but that was a long time ago…

Anyway, back to this matcha. It’s good. It’s spinachy and grassy. It’s noticeably vanilla. It’s very naturally flavored. There’s no weird aftertaste or funk. So, why don’t I love it? I tried it straight. I then added a tiny bit of sweetener. Then I tried frothing it in my milk frother. Finally, I added a little splash of skim milk. All of this tweaking helped squelch the grassiness. I’ve never really been of fan of green tea grassiness.

I think I would love this if I used it in cooking/baking. I can imagine amazing vanilla-flavored matcha icing on cupcakes (see DaisyChubb’s killer recipe here: http://www.daisychubb.com/recipe-chocolate-cupcakes-with-matcha-buttercream-chocolate-ganache/). I bet vanilla-flavored matcha scones would be good too. But this matcha by itself? Hmm, I think it’s something I’d have to learn to love. I don’t love it right now. I like it, and it’s definitely interesting. But it took me a good hour of slowly sipping on it to finish the cup.

Big thank you to Ninavampi for sharing her beloved matcha with me! I’m glad I got to try this before investing in a 30g bag. I think I’d enjoy a fruit flavored matcha more. So I’ll probably buy the strawberry one next with the strongest flavoring it comes with, which I believe would be “There’s matcha in there?!” I’ll let y’all know how that turns out, whenever I’m allowed to buy tea again that is. ;)

I hear ya! I just use it in a blender to make macha smoothies with fruit!

Missy

I have some naked matcha I drink and I would say it’s an acquired taste. It could just be you aren’t big on matcha. I think it’s pretty strange that I like it, because I’m not big on green teas in general. I’m interested in how your next matcha experiment turns out. :D

CHAroma

Thanks, Missy! I’m hopeful that matcha will continue to grow on me. I love all things Japanese, so it’d make me sad if I couldn’t enjoy it. It took a good year or two for sencha to grow on me, and there are still some senchas that I find too grassy. But I’m able to enjoy most of them now! :)

Kittenna

Almond milk latte. I swear by it! I think the fruit one are better though; green apple blew me away!

Matcha-thon! English Toffee latte all the way! I desperately need a kick so hoping the matcha will work fast! Out of the flavors I’ve tried from Red Leaf Tea I think this is my favorite flavor.

I love toffee so I was super excited to give this matcha a try. I ordered the basic grade matcha with a distinctive flavor level and I have to say this was a great choice for my first matcha from Red Leaf Tea. You can find more information about this beauty and order some for yourself here: http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/english-toffee-matcha.html.

First off, the scent when you open the pouch is of creamy, rich caramel toffee. I was concerned that the color of the matcha would have been muddied a bit with the addition of flavoring, but luckily the matcha is a beautiful, deep green. I love that there are no artificial flavorings added to this tea because the color of matcha is definitely part of my overall experience. I don’t have a sifter so I was worried that the matcha might be a bit clumpy, but it was perfectly smooth! After brewing this up without additions, it gives a pretty good froth. The flavor is primarily of lightly sweet toffee, but the matcha is not lost against the flavoring. However, there isn’t any edge of bitterness like you usually get with unflavored matcha. If you are new to matcha or don’t really enjoy the bitterness it can have, I highly suggest this company and flavor.

Although the matcha was good without additions, I wanted this flavor as a dessert replacement. Next up, slightly sweetened matcha latte! I added just a teensy bit of sugar and a splash of milk into my chawan of matcha. Yum! This is pretty amazing! It is just like drinking matcha while eating a big hunk of toffee. This is definitely a great dessert replacement! “Wow!” is the only word that truly describes this flavor accurately. This is my first flavored matcha and it definitely will not be my last.

I also want to add that my order was sent out quickly and I received both an email after submitting my order and after it shipped with tracking information. I’m very happy with the service I’ve received from Red Leaf Tea. I will certainly be ordering from this company again.

While this is delicious to drink, I’m already planning how I can use this English Toffee Matcha to bake with. I think that this would be amazing in a buttercream icing and equally good in cupcakes or really any type of baked good. This would also be great incorporated into some whipped cream and used to top fresh fruit or angel food cake.

Yummy in my tummy.
This is today’s bottled iced matcha drink! I added a tiny pinch of sugar for a treat – it is wonderful. I feel like a small child. haha!

I will also say, my hands are shaking – but it’s not the matcha! Just some good old fashioned workplace conflict. Hooray! Hanging in there though – only 1 more hour!

Have I mentioned lately that Steepster is my safe place? Thanksuguys!

Matcha-Thon!

Why yes, I am drinking Cotton Candy matcha and watching corgi puppies while I write this review, thank you for asking. How could I not pair 2 adorable things in one. I have a cotton candy body spray – it may be made for children, but I care not! I will cover myself in the cute delicious smell and go out on the town! Yes. Cotton Candy is adorable to me. Adorably TASTY. You have to love the way it dissolves and covers your hands with sticky residue. I would much rather be covered in cotton candy than cheesy Dorito dust. Just sayin’.

There was no way in the world I was not picking up this matcha blend. I’ve had some great tasting cotton candy teas in the past so I knew it could be done! Also, I have this vast collection of cotton candy flavoured drink recipes to be made – and remade – matcha style! Pinterest can be very inspiring! The one that is most intriguing in a cotton candy lemonade, where you just pour sweet lemonade over a glass full of cotton candy. Has anyone ever tried matcha lemonade? That is pretty much what this matcha was MADE for, and I wish I had some friends to come have a summer party so I could make some and not get heartburn from drinking the whole pitcher. So, you’re invited! Just let me know when you’re coming so I can clean!

Yay! This Cotton Candy matcha takes me to my happy place! Fun times at the fair under a hot blue sky – that is what cotton candy is to me. I got the basic matcha with the delicate flavouring and it is just perfect! So much yummy cotton candy flavour – and it really blows my mind, because it doesn’t just taste generally sweet and sugary – it actually tastes like spun sugar! Bright pink and blue spun sugar that just melts on your tongue.

I enjoyed this flavour of matcha hot – but it also made a very refreshing and energizing iced tea. Since Cotton Candy is such a summer flavour, I was happy to have it by my side on a sweltering hot day. It is especially good sprinkled on some real vanilla icecream. Have you ever tried cotton candy ice cream? It’s usually made with a pretty cheap ice cream brand, and although it’s usually delicious anyways, it doesn’t even hold a candle to a high quality ice cream sprinkled with this wonderfully flavoured cotton candy matcha. A cold, sweet treat on a hot day!

Thank you for breaking the flavoured matcha mold and coming out with this great array of flavours, Red Leaf Tea. It’s inspiring, summery and delicious. It opens a lot of doors for all sorts of drinks, desserts and treats! Here it is: http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/cotton-candy-matcha.html

When I was looking up this tea to write a note, I typed in “Cotton Candy Oolong” haha. I guess my inner oolong lover is a child. Anyways!

This is Mike’s new favourite matcha. What I love about it is that it actually tastes like cotton candy! Hot, pink or blue spun sugar! Or I guess green in this case ;)

This is a really nice blend – I added a bit of sugar but it almost made it too sweet! haha the sweetness of the cotton candy really comes through in the scent, which makes it sweet without any sweetener. Love it.

Mélissa

That’s so…special. I gotta try this.

Daisy Chubb

It’s unique! But sooo delicious, worth the try ;)
