THIS IS FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!

I have been looking for a Lapsong Souchong JUST LIKE THIS! I FINALLY FOUND IT! Woot! Woot! Woot!!!!

I was looking for something with the strong smokey scent and was smoky to taste but didn’t have a funky after taste or too over the top while actually drinking it. I was also looking for one that didn’t taste like wood and was smooth. This is it! This just seems to have EVERYTHING I have been looking for in a smoky tea. I’m shocked…SHOCKED!!!!

Now…if you are one of those people who are the “more smokey tasting the better” this might not be strong enough in taste for you. At least the way I did it which was 1 to 1 and a half Tablespoons of loose leaf in 12-ounces of 190-200 degree water for 5 minutes.

Now that I know I like this I will tinker with amounts and infusion lengths.

I’m so happy now I could do the funky chicken!

I haven’t had a true Genmaicha in several months…you know with the rice puffs and ‘popped rice’ in the mix? So I was fairly excited to try this. I can usually ‘take em or leave ’em’ when it comes to the Japanese Genmaicha Green…but I must say this is pretty good.

It looks like Genmaicha before, during, and after infusion…as well as it smells like Genmaicha before, during, and after infusing…HELL…it even tastes like Genmaicha…the only difference is, I think, this is the ONE Genmaicha I will remember liking fairly well.

All I can really say is the little bit of aroma that this tea is eeeeeeeking out is 1 part masculine and 1 part feminine – it that means anything to you.

It’s a very dark brown color and just before the sip gives off a tinge of a toasty scent. It has a semi-woodsy, semi-toasty black tea taste that seems to be just what I need at the latter part of the morning before I switch to greens, whites, rooibos, and other types of teas.

Pretty good.

Having another cup of this today…it certainly hits the spot! Semi-Malty, Semi-Chewy…I really must want a croissant today or something…it seems to be something I crave…which is really weird…because I don’t think I have EVER had a craving for a croissant…EVER…in my life…or in previous lives! (LOL)

Very light aroma of some kind of floral and…maybe…Pine?? Not sure. It’s pleasant tho.

Another really good medium to medium-strong black tea to have in your stash! Lovely!

Clear, Bright Amber color…yes.
Robust – yes…especially for an oolong! YAY!
LOVE the twisty leaves!

The taste has a lot of character but it’s hard to describe. It’s certainly yummy. It’s Juicy but not really sweet but’s it’s not grassy, woodsy, or bitter. It’s smooth but has some kick to it. But it’s not peppery. I don’t really think it’s floral tasting either.

It’s almost like that guy in high school that was trying to be a rebel but deep down inside he was a big softy. The ‘good girls’ liked him and so did the ’not-so-good girls" and the guys wanted to BE him!?

WHOA. I have no idea where that came from…lol…

Must be the magic of tea again.

Certainly worth a try and I will definitely be drinking more of this!

The earthy flavor makes this one of my favorite Yunnans. Sipping it conjures up images of my British grandmother in her beige cardigan, serving me afternoon tea with cucumber sandwiches.

Good quality, good tasting cup. The faintest hint of smokiness. A great everyday tea.

I love this stuff and I think it is the BEST Lapsang Souchong. However, it makes lousy ice tea, so don’t try it that way

My favorite of the Lapsangs’s because the base tea is so good and it is very nicely balanced Simply the best of them all.

I found this to be less smoky than the various Lapsang Souchong I get in Chinatown

Strong, as expected. Has a mellow, earthy taste. I did not find it particularly remarkable, rather a plain, middle of the road, strong tea. Bet it would make a good iced tea and a good tea for water of questionable quality (water with its own taste)

Very strong— good for an afternoon boost.

Good for when I want something a little different.

2nd steeping…still good.

A strong tea with a lot of body. This tea has an earthy, loamy flavor. Very easy to overbrew. The tea has a different appearance from other “leaf” teas. It is very fine, almost like gunpowder teas and needs to be measured when brewing…its soooo easy to get a lot more than you think! Re-steeps well (for me).

next to the last cup. I must be the only one with this on Steepster. Maybe I ought to save the last bit for a Traveling Tea Box. Is it acceptible to only have a 1 (generous) serving sample?
Did you know if you put things between less-than and greater-than signs, they don’t show up in the notes? I had a note about a picture of my tea shelf at work and if you could see it, you’d wonder how I get anything done, what with having to make a decision about what tea to drink in the morning. We need to get the next TTB moving along.

I had this(again)! almost out…down to 2 or three servings left.

This is going to be my “morning brew” for awhile…I inherited a 1/2 lb of it from a friend who thought it was too mild. I’ll not bother to post more on it…save everyone the boredom.
