78 F on the porch. Ceiling fan spinning slowly. Rocking chair. Plate of macaroni and cheese, baked beans. A sandwich of thin sliced deli ham, iceberg lettuce, tomato, ranch dressing, colby jack, on rye bread. Icy cold bottle of Citrus Green Tea. It may not be Heaven but it sure is nice. It’s good to be me. (Sorry Gene, I stole your catch phrase)

Something about this distinctly reads as bubblegum flavored to me.

How i got it: Bought It (Lipton’s Assorted Pack)

Experience: This one got a little below my expectations. Its nice aroma is clearly dominated by the mint (as usual in flavored greens), while the tea has just the enough strength to prevent this from smelling like a pure mint tisane. In the taste, however, this becomes more pronounced, as the green tea flavor is too smooth and fleeting to have a fair participation in the blend’s taste. Not bad, but not too good either.

Would i buy it again?: It’s a little above the average in the Assorted Pack , but i missed the characteristic flavor of greens. I’m more inclined to the ‘no’.

The only reason I have this is because I found it in a salvage grocery store for $1.45. The box was squished, but it wasn’t expired.

As far as bagged chais go, this isn’t the worst one I’ve tried. It also isn’t the best, of course. Cinnamon is the most dominant spice I can taste, while the other spices just sort of blend together in the background. I can hardly taste the base at all.

If you end up with this tea for whatever reason, you might wanna double-up on the amount of bags you’d normally use. It’s really weak and they were stingy with the spice. Or, you know, you could just skip it altogether.

How i got it: Bought It (Lipton’s Assorted Pack)

Experience: This tea is curious. Its aroma is really similar to Whittard’s English Breakfast, including very strong notes of bergamot and black tea, but in the taste part, in contrast, is surprinsingly smooth and light. I’d say this blend is more nuanced than the standard Earl Grey, but manages to keep its character. Slightly above average.

Would i buy it again?: Not bad for the Assorted Pack average, but as an Earl Grey, Dilmah and others are far ahead in the race. My answer would be ‘no’.

very neutral, and actually not too bad, but that doesn´t mean it´s OK, if you understand me here ;-) The usual stuff they put in the tray of the hotels where coffee and tea facilities are offered.

This isn´t Earl Grey tea, it´s more like a lemon tea…but unfortunately still about the only tea available (apart from the yellow label tea) in standard snack bars. No way I´m buying this one!

How i got it: Got a bag in a swap with my fiancee

Experience: Yes, tea with berries again, and another one where the berries side overrides the tea, both in flavor and aroma. The main role this time is the cherry, so intense that almost no room is left for the green tea to appear. The resulting mix has a simple, but not very lasting taste. I’d say it’s similar to Basilur’s Summer tea, only with less vibrant and balanced flavors. Not bad, but not specially good.

Would i buy it?: Hmm… it doesn’t have much merits. My answer would be ‘no’.

Mmm second steep of the same leaves has less apricot but still a hint and that nice sweetness. The grassy, vegetal characteristics are still there, but the tang mellowed out.

Impressed once again.

I’ve had this in my cupboard in an unsealed box for a long time, well over a year. I very nearly tossed it in the garbage, but I’m glad I didn’t, because this is goooood.

I often find flavoured white teas disappointing, but this is delightful and well balanced. The green and white is fresh, crisp, grassy and vegetal, with a touch of tang. The apricot is sweet and delicate; not even a touch of tartness and it tastes very natural. The fruit doesn’t overpower the tea at all.

I would drink this again in a heart beat, and I’m disappointed that it’s been discontinued.

I think I stole this tea from the craft services table at something I was filming. Or possibly the breakfast bar at a hotel? I don’t really remember. It’s been in a bag of random teas in the cupboard for a while, in any case. Today, I decided to give it a go, because what the hey.

And it’s a good ‘un! Surprisingly so. Really sweet, but there’s still just a little of presence of actual black tea somewhere under the forest fruits flavour, which for some reason tastes to me mostly like apple? But, like, a really nice, juicy apple flavour. Which is actually really lovely, albeit unexpected. If I didn’t have so many teas already, I might stock it. I’d certainly choose it if it were on offer at other film shoots!

Experience: This one, along with the Royal Ceylon, maybe can justify the Assorted Pack. It has a smooth and lightly acidic aroma, and an intense and pungent taste, varying from malty to softly bitter. I think it has character, but i missed a clearer, better defined taste. Mild astringency. Better than i thought.

Would i buy it again?: In its current form (teabag) maybe not, but i would surely try a loose leaf version.

Experience: Well, i was expecting something different, to be honest. For me, this tea’s strong point is its smooth aroma, very similar to Dilmah’s English Afternoon, but more subtle and sweet. At the other hand, its taste is not very well defined, and a lot softer than i expected (taking Dilmah’s Darjeeling as a reference). The strong ‘muscatel’ touch is quite missed here, but in the end, this tea isn’t bad. Average, I’d say.

Would i buy it again?: Mmm… i’ll pass this time. Better options out there.
