Thank you to my sister Sil for sending this sample my way.
I’m usually not a fan of Ceylon teas, but contrary to most, this one didn’t have that typical iced tea flavor to it, and was enjoyable to drink with a certain richness that made me think of dry roasted nuts. It is rather on the astringent side, however, which I don’t mind so much, except that it tends to hit my tummy in a rough way, and in this case, in spite of a full breakfast, I could still feel it’s effects, but not so much as to lose my breakfasts or anything like that, LOL.
This is okay – I’ve been drinking less tea lately, so maybe my palate just needs to come back around, but I find it thin in taste and a bit… plain. Not what I expected from Palais des Thés. I like a more robust cuppa in the AM. Perhaps on the second or third taste of this canister it will get better.
Almond, not quite marzipan almond, but a sweet almond, vs. a crunchy almond. And oh, is this good. I wish this came in a caffeinated version. This is by far the best tea I’ve had. Vanilla almond love.
Flavors: Almond, Marzipan, Rooibos, Vanilla
Preparation
There are some teas you buy because they smell amazing, and that initial amazement fades over time. But there are some—like this one—that retain its crisp, minty fragrance and surprises you every time you open up the tin. I adore mint, so I might be biased. And I tend to only drink this one when I’m sickly, and the smell alone really clears up your sinuses. But even when I’m working at 100% capacity, this tea is a delight.
I’ll admit, it’s less “green” and more “mint.” If you’re not a huge fan of mint, it won’t be for you. The scent is overwhelming (I say that lovingly), and the fragrance fills your mouth and your sinuses. Despite the hot temperature, it’s cooling on the way down. The green base is pretty average, but you’re probably not picking up this one for the taste of actual tea.
So much mint. Everything is mint.
Preparation
A light colour, i prefer to brew this a little bit shorter than the recommended time (about 1 minute). Fresh floral aroma and taste. Very clean, with a long lasting finish. Lasts for at least five steepings, have done up to 7 with a high tea-water ratio and good results. First steeping has a nice aroma of fresh yeasted bakery.
One of my favourite oolongs!
Flavors: Baked Bread, Floral, Fruity

Woooo! 100th tasting note :)
I needed some black tea to go this morning (and I like using tea bags in my thermos) so I grabbed this.
Their tea bags are bizarre, it was like.. a baby sock filled with tea leaves. No room for the tea leaves to expand at all :/ But the tea itself was good, the bergamot was not too terribly strong but definitely present, which is just how I like it.
Flavors: Bergamot
Morning tea. I vastly prefer drinking this one at home in a ceramic mug, so it almost always becomes my tea for working at home :) Still enjoying this one though it would be nice if smaller options were available. I still don’t LOVE most ceylons, but there are a few out there including this one that isn’t so bad :)
noms. another “long” day of work – i apparently was the only one to not get the memo that everyone is slacking for the next two days. I don’t mind so much because it’s a chance to get a ton of work done, but frustrating when the people who are supposed to be working, are clearly not really around or working. just take the time off if that’s how you roll.
anyway, lots of tea time for me thankfully, so there’s that.
soooooooooo many paris teas, so little time to drink them all.
I’ve contemplated offering up sample packs of various fancy french teas for people to get a chance to try them but i’m not sure if a)anyone would want them or b)how much of a pain it would be to pack them up and ship them out – esp given canada posts’s expensiveness.
This one is a damn good example of a ceylon i can get behind. :)
A) everyone would love it B) biggest pain in the butt ever!!! Ha ha. Just enjoy them all to yourself :)
haha if there are any you want to try/revisit let me know. I think i owe you a surprise one of these days :)
MissB’s package to me was about $10.79 shipping, she charged $10 for it. It probably had 100 gm of tea in it. You’d just have to be tricky with the scale! (and I know many people would be interested)
mmm i really need to get cracking on drinking more of my teas from Paris. I’ve being doing it gradually but now i should actually focus on them :) On the upside, my oldest teas are from April now i really am in to the “majority” of my teas. I quite like this one for a ceylon and i’m glad i picked this one up on the basis of the steepster reviews.
