I’ve been drinking this a whole lot more lately. I don’t know why, but I’ve totally been craving that creamy lemon flavor this tea has! It’s just soo good!
Kinda nervous about the whole DTT “closing”, they just kinda seem sketchy about the whole deal. :S But they were selling off some of their stock the other day and I got to buy 4oz of this tea, for like 14 bucks! :O
I don’t know why on earth I didn’t stock up on this one during the BF/CM sales! I stocked up on literally everything else, EXCEPT this tea. I’m an idiot…
But Super stoked I had the opportunity to get more!

Fjellrev

Wow, and here I was just wondering what’s been going on with them!

Ost

They said that they are switching management and that they are clearing out their stock so they can start fresh I guess…they said they should re-open by September…Hope so!

Kirkoneill1988

what does chiffon mean?

Sil

haha that was you that managed to snag that? hahaha

Ost

Oh yeah…I have stocked their page ever since they said that they were doing their clearing out sale, Sil XD I think I’ve been getting on their nerves, haha!
Did you want some? I have a decent amount, I can totally send you some whenever we actually do a swap! Ughh I’m taking forever-I’m sorry! XD We will do it at some point haha!

Sil

god lord don’t stress about swapping. I’ll have teas from paris at the start of may so there’s always that lol and i’d love some IF you’re ok with just setting some aside for me for “whenever”

Ost

Heh, well thanks for being cool about the swapping-I appreciate it! Maybe like by summer I’ll be well enough. I keep getting my hopes up on these meds…you’d think I’d learn by now xD
Oh well.
And yes, I will totally set aside some of it for you! I have no problem at all with that! :D Is that one that you really like?
I have a few other DTT teas that I have tons of now, so like…just let me know if you want any more of their teas because I definitely have a lot. xD

tea-sipper

Aw, they are closing? Even if they restart I imagine their blends will be different. Where did you see the sale? I thought the site was down for a while.

Had this one earlier tonight…Holy Shanghai. It’s just so so good. I love how the creaminess balances out the sour lemon taste.
UGHHHH
I just love this tea soo much! :D Glad I have so much of it in my collection. DTT better not ever go out of business!

LiberTEAS

This one is really good. One of my favorites from DTT!

Sil

I think them enter comment is, hope they come BACK in to business. They’re supposed to relaunch under new management but no word yet…

Kaylee

What happened to old management?

gmathis

DT’s dessert teas are/were/will be (think positively!) superb!

Sil

no idea. but their facebook indicated they were closed but would be reopening.

Every time I have this tea, I remember how amazing it is. For some reason in my head I keep thinking it’s gonna be a really sour lemon that I really really gotta be in the mood for. But it keeps surprising me and making me realize how amazing it is. It’s such a creamy and smooth lemon. It’s actually pretty amazing-and I wish my brain would stop lying to me! It’s annoying! ><

Why don’t I drink this more often? Part of me was thinking that it was kinda a sour lemon…I have no idea why.
I’ve been craving this for the last few days and was all hesitant about drinking it again. But my memory served me wrong! SO WRONG!
It’s not sour at all!
It’s creamy and smooth. Delicious lemony goodness. Dessert in a cup! ^^

I wasn’t sure I’d like this tea when I first saw it on DTT’s website, but the more I drink it, the more it grows on me ^^
It’s not sour at all, it’s so creamy and smooth. The perfect lemon tea! (:

Flavors: Cream, Lemon

Cameron B.

I need to try this one tonight, too! :)

Ost

Good choice!

albertocanfly

Is this lemonade-y? :] I guess I’m having a difficult time picturing a non-sour lemon tea:P haha

Ost

Not really lemonade-y…well, at least to me I think lemonade is sour. But it’s kinda like eating a lemon dessert, it’s never really sour. It’s always kinda creamy. I suck at describing, don’t I? XD

albertocanfly

No, no..actually I think that worked really well. Lemony dessert.. like the sweet, creamy lemon bars? :]

Ost

Yeah, like that! (:

albertocanfly

ooo, yum! :D Dessert in a cup^.^

drank Key Lime Pie by Della Terra Teas
1271 tasting notes

More Here’s Hoping Travelling Teabox 3

A very dry lime flavoring going on, but I’m not getting any pie. Just tastes like dry lime and black tea. I did the shorter steep, but it is quite dry from the black base. It’s okay if you like lime. I had high hopes, but I think making this iced would of been better.

Cheri

A big part of what makes key lime pie good is when it has a good graham cracker crumb crust. I know that there has to be someone who can do this in a tea with a nice creamy key lime flavor. I just haven’t found it yet. (A couple of years ago, one of my favorite breweries did this in beer. It started creamy and then key lime and finished with an actual graham cracker flavor. It was amazing. The next year they made it again, but it wasn’t as good. Ah well.)

drank The Malt Shop by Della Terra Teas
736 tasting notes

This one definitely smells and tastes malty. Kinda reminds me of Whoppers to be honest. xD Tastes like whoppers in liquid form. Which is good for me. Tea doesn’t give me terrible heartburn like chocolate does! This tea is definitely a win!

Flavors: Chocolate, Malt

mj

Liquid whoppers? I may need this. Also, you can’t eat chocolate?? I’m very sad for you. On the other hand, I would be much thinner without chocolate

Ost

I can send some to you if you want! (:

Ost

I was actually thinking about you when I drank it. Was thinking, “you know who might like this? mj might like this!”

mj

Yes, I would like to try some! Oh darn, we’ll have to do another swap :-)

Ost

You don’t have to swap anything if you don’t want. I can just send some to you (:

mj

Swapping is way more fun!

Ost

Aha true :P just message me about it then? (: I am totally down for it!

drank S'mores by Della Terra Teas
1578 tasting notes

I got a sample of this tea in my swap with Ost. It was one that I have no idea why I didn’t choose when I made my Della Terra order – I guess because I’m kind of wary of chocolate teas. The dry leaf is generic small black tea leaves mixed with mini chocolate chips and little pieces of marshmallow that look like they’re covered in graham cracker crumbs. It smells yummy – like sugary sweet marshmallows mixed with carob and a touch of graham cracker. I brewed a very heaping teaspoon for 4 minutes.

This is one of those teas that smells far better than it actually tastes. The aroma is all melty sweet marshmallows with just a touch of cocoa. I can also smell the black tea in the background. Sipping this, I taste the sweet marshmallow taste, but it comes nowhere close to the smell. It’s a more transparent marshmallow, closer almost to vanilla than actual marshmallows. I definitely get a bit of the cocoa flavor and it also shows up as an aftertaste. For some reason, I get a definite tang out of the black tea base and it’s not at all harmonious with the flavoring. Even using more tea than is recommended, this tea is a bit weak for my tastes. Not bad, but not great.

Boiling 4 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

The other half of why I’ve not been around is because I have just been drinking the same old teas, well not really “old”. But I’ve been trying to sip down the ones I got last year-This one I went off and on with really liking. There was a few months there that it just tasted too woody, so I didn’t drink it much. But over the last month, having tried it again,it’s been a hit in my book! I’ve just been loving it-drinking it literally every day, sometimes a couple times within the day. Finished what was in my tin, then opened up my last bag of this delicious tea and put it in the tea.
I really do hope that they re-open. :( This tea is just so delicious.
I really was wondering if I was gonna have to sell it a few months ago since it tasted woody. But glad that I’ve caught up to that tea now since I’ve finished every little bit of tea that I had opened last year. So Hopefully I’ll have more time to finish off this bag.

Definitely have been a lot more depressed lately, with a lot more family issues going on, and just health issues getting worse, and having to deal with frustrating doctors that are either giving up on me or just refusing to help me because of my age. It’s all just frustrating and depressing, to be honest. I definitely don’t drink as much tea as I used to. And in the past tea drinking has proven to keep my spirits up more and just help me with the whole having a better perspective on things. I really need to get back into it more! I have so much to try, and I do want to try it, it’s just the actually doing it is what’s hard. Because I have to move around a lot, well “a lot” when you’re in a crap load of pain :/ So yeah…Anyway…
I’m trying to get back into drinking tea more-I really need it for my emotional/mental sanity!

So the last couple times I had this tea it didn’t taste that great for some reason-it was the same with DavidsTea’s Birthday Cake too. Like around the same time. Don’t know if it was a med I was on or what but it tasted like just wood, water, and sugar. Lots of sugar. xD
But this week I’ve given this one another try since I got this one sometime last summer, so it’s one of my oldest teas that I must sip down!
Think I got about maybe 3oz or so left?
I’ve drank this one a couple times over the weekend and then again today-and holy shanghai! That’s the Red Velvet Delight I remember! :D :D Super stoked that it tastes right again! This has been a favorite and I’d have hated to waste it :(
Anywho!
So freakin’ good. If Della Terra Teas for sure re-opens and this tea is available, hopefully they’ve not changed it-because like I said in another tasting note-trying to find other teas that are just as good as the ones from DT because I keep getting crappy CS. Sooo I need replacements xD
Anywho! This one will do for now! Kinda curious to try Birthday Cake now though since this one tastes like I remember, maybe Birthday Cake will too?
But then they’ll just suck me back in..oy.
Anywho! Fantastic Tea! :D

Nichole/CuppaGeek

I don’t know if you saw or not, but they are offering mystery boxes right now on their facebook page.

OMGsrsly

Unfortunately they haven’t updated in a couple weeks, and their website is down. So I’m not sure what’s happening there. :/

Ost

Yeah, But I am thinking it’s the last of their teas that no one wanted to buy…and that I wasn’t interested in soo. :S I didn’t wanna buy it. Plus I don’t like mystery things, Nichole :P

Ost

Yeah, OMGsrsly….hoping to hear some word at least before the end of summer….

So this one of the first teas I fell in love with which wasn’t from Teavana. Don’t drink it as much as I used to, but decided to drink it today. It was still enjoyable. But the rooibos is so much more apparent to me than before. It’s still really sweet and syrup-y, but compared to like DavidsTea’s Birthday Cake it’s just not as good. I will still enjoy finishing this one off, just won’t be a repurchase. Nice for this morning though!

drank Almond Biscotti by Della Terra Teas
518 tasting notes

So until I really looked close at this tea, and then verified on here, I would not have expected it to have coconut in it. I don’t know what coconut has to do with almond biscotti, but it’s there. Steeped, it’s definitely coconut to me, much more so than almond for sure.

Unfortunately, this tea just isn’t for me.

mj

Oh, are you a coconut hater like Marzipan?

Cheri

I’m not a hater, but I don’t prefer it. Mostly, my aversion to coconut is the texture, which one doesn’t get in tea, obviously, but it’s still not a flavor I like. If it had been mild here, and complimented the almond, it probably would have been fine, even nice, because it could have added a great dimension to the biscotti-ness. Instead, it overwhelmed, and it was a coconut tea that maybe had a little almond flavor to it.

Marzipan

I’m famous for being a coconut hater!

mj

You are! Hating coconut is just so incomprehensible to me because I LOVE it so much. It made quite an impression when you posted that you hated coconut. LOL

christeana1

I agree mj on the hating coconut! I do not understand how people hate licorice either.

Cheri

Coconut, I really don’t like. Black licorice, I really hate. EEEEEWWWW!

Marzipan

I wish I liked them, it would make life a lot easier.

Marzipan

Of course, I don’t understand how people hate things like a great aged parmesan or prosciutto.

mj

I’m with Cheri about licorice…so gross!

Cheri

I love aged cheeses. Delicious.

christeana1

Wow! Now your hating on parmesan and prosicutto! And licorice too! Looks like my palate is completely opposite of you guys..lol:)

christeana1

@ marzipan…do you have issues with Parma?:)

Marzipan

No, I think you read my comment backward.

christeana1

Oh your right…sorry about that. :) The Italian in me was crying.

Got this in a swap from Cameron B

I am so disappointed in this tea. :c It had my hopes up. It made me excited. But it just didn’t … have much of a taste.
The smell… omg the smell was amazing. PINEAPPLE UPSIDE DOWN CAKE IN THIS BAG!
but when I brewed it, it didn’t come through. The flavor was there, but it was SO VAGUE that I couldn’t really make much of it. :c

I realized this tea has just made me want to make a real pineapple upside down cake. I guess that’s how I’ll get that flavor because it’s not in this cup. :c

Such a shame… I would totally have bought some of this if it’d help up to my expectations.

Drank yesterday. Site was being weird.

Flavors: Brown Sugar, Sugar

Preparation
Boiling 3 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML
Cheri

Did it taste like pineapple or not?

Arshness

No not really at all. That is part of why I was disappointed. :c
It had candied pineapple bits in it, but I couldn’t taste any fruity quality. All I really got was a brown sugar cakey taste.

Sad. So sad because it smelled incredible.

Ost

That’s actually why I liked it xD Sorry you didn’t like it though :/ It always sucks to be disappointed. Least you didn’t waste your money on it?

Arshness

I never feel an experience is a waste. Especially not at sample-sized prices ;)
But yeah, I wish the pineapple had featured in it a bit.
I really just want to make a pineapple upside down cake now.
Which I’m going to do.
And that will make everything better.

Cameron B.

I find with Della Terra I have to use more tea than recommended to make a strong enough cup (so about 1.5 tsp). But I definitely didn’t get any pineapple taste from this one either – just butter and cake and brown sugar. You must take a picture of your glorious upside down cake! :) I’ve been really wanting to make an angel food cake but I don’t have the right pan… QQ

drank Witches Cauldron by Della Terra Teas
736 tasting notes

Initially all I tasted of this tea was the woodsy rooibos taste. Which doesn’t bother me too much like it does with some people. But I’d be disappointed if that was all I could taste for the entire cup.
My uncertainty was calmed as I took another sip. There it is! That creamy, vanilla flavor I was looking for! (:
It’s not too strong, but just enough to make it a good cup of tea. I’ll have to buy this when It’s available next! Also, from the picture on Steepster, it looks like a cute tea with the little bugs and bats in it too! _

Flavors: Cream, Vanilla

Oops forgot to add, Thanks to Lariel for that sample! (:

Definitely caramel-y. But nothing really remarkable. Wouldn’t buy this tea. But thanks for the sample, Lariel! (: Now I’ll save my money!

This is the sample that was included with my recent Della Terra order. First off, mine looks nothing like the picture. There aren’t any flower petals or sugar pearls. It looks like dark tea leaves (puerh looks very similar to black to me) with some little brown dried fruit bits and one giant piece of freeze-dried strawberry. I broke the strawberry apart and mixed it in. There are also a few small cubes of some fruit – could be pineapple. The dry tea smells very fruity. It has a very tart strawberry mixed with some other fruit that could be pineapple or peach. I also get a little bit of vanilla and some mustiness in the back. I’ve never had a puerh before so this could be interesting. I steeped it for 4 minutes.

The brewed tea smells like musty earth and wood with a little vanilla and maybe a tiny hint of strawberry in the back. I drank the first half of the cup unsweetened and I found it very odd, though not unpleasant. There is a distinct taste of ash and musty earth and wood. I don’t really get any vanilla but I do get a little taste of fruitiness in the background. I added a little bit of sugar (half teaspoon maybe) and it definitely brought out the fruit and the vanilla a bit more.

I assume that earthy and woody taste is typical of a puerh just from reading about others’ experiences with them on here. I was just happy that I didn’t get any fishiness in the smell or taste! I realize this is most likely not super-fantastic puerh considering Della Terra is known for their dessert and flavored teas and not their tea base. I would definitely be open to trying puerh again though! :)

Flavors: Ash, Earth, Musty, Strawberry, Wood

Preparation
205 °F / 96 °C 4 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML
boychik

rinse first, always rinse puerh

Cameron B.

Thanks, I’ll try that next time. I have some in the fridge cold-brewing right now also. :)

Cinnamon and sugar easily come through at all corners of this tea, but the gooey oatmeal requires care to coax it out. When I made the first cup I could actually fool myself into believing I was eating a raisin oatmeal cookie, whereas my subsequent sessions tasted a little on the burnt side.

Today I didn’t quite achieve the full glory of the oatmeal cookie. However, oatmeal does pop up a little in the finish and aftertaste so I didn’t completely mess it up. A little bit of cookie is better than no cookie.

Flavors: Cinnamon, Cookie, Malt, Oats, Raisins, Sugar, Vanilla

Preparation
Boiling 3 min, 0 sec
Plunkybug

I found that my sample was very close to oatmeal raisin cookie in liquid form. I’m hoping my order repeats that.

Had this one last night! Whenever I open my tin of this I’m hit by the magical aroma of caramel and marshmallows!
Took it in a traveling mug while I was out and about, and seemed to be okay, which is good! But I’d rather enjoy it more in a mug at home.

Finishing off the last of the sample that JennyFur so graciously gave me. It’s become one of my favorite teas. It’s at least one of the cutest teas I’ve ever seen with all the little sprinkles and marshmallows. Next time this tea is available I’m stocking up!

Sipdown!

This is definitely my favorite of the Della Terra teas I ordered a few weeks ago. A few of the others had really artificial flavors, which were okay for the first try, but after that I found they made me a bit nauseous. This one does have flavoring, but I actually enjoy it. The blueberry is more of a blueberry jam flavor than fresh. The cream is kind of vanilla-ish and it’s definitely stronger than the blueberry, which is okay, but I would prefer if the blueberry were stronger. It’s not overly rooibosy, and I don’t taste the black tea at all.

Overall, a relatively good dessert tea but not a very good blueberry tea, which is what I’m looking for.

Preparation

The hunt continues…

Dexter

http://www.teavivre.com/blueberry/
(If you have some of this in the house, you can add a little to save disappointing teas like the one mentioned – or you can just add it to your favorite base and make your own blueberry teas…)

Cameron B.

Ehhhh I see hibiscus… :(

TheTeaFairy

(You can trust Dexter, she’s her own little tea-mixologist in her spare time :-))

Dexter

Shrug – the hunt continues…. :(

Cameron B.

Do you like hibiscus? Or can you just not taste it much in that blend?

Dexter

I like hibiscus – so it’s hard for me to say. I don’t think this is overly tart, but I’m not really sensitive to it. IMHO – if blueberry teas don’t have a little hibiscus they end up being too sweet and “jammy” like you mentioned – if you want the “fresh” blueberry taste you need a little tart to balance the sweet.
If you don’t like hibby – then that blend is probably not for you…

This is actually my third tea of the day. I also drank the second half of my S’mores sample from Ost and then a second steeping of Golden Orchid (I had the first steeping last night, I shared it with my boyfriend, who isn’t a tea drinker but he was excited at the notion of chocolate tea). So I brewed this up for four minutes. I usually do 3, but I knew I would add milk so I figured a bit stronger would be good. I then added some sweetened condensed milk (oh boychik…). It was still too hot to drink so I went downstairs to check the mail, hopeful that I would have some new samples to try. Well, no samples, but I did get my July issue of Bon Appetit! I love food magazines!

Needless to say, this tea is delicious with the condensed milk. It’s amazingly creamy and delicious but I can still taste a lot of blueberry. It’s like blueberries swimming in sweetened cream! Yum! If anyone reading this has a suggestion for a really good blueberry tea, I would love to hear it! I love blueberry.

Preparation

Blueberry is not a favorite flavor of mine, but even I really enjoyed Blueberry Fields by Tea Source.

I bought some Blueberry Jam from David’s but haven’t tried it yet. I’ll dig it out and try it.
