I really enjoyed this detox tea, almost as much as I loved the antioxidants in this blend. It’s got a sweet, but almost floral taste. I added a bit of sugar, and no milk ( usually I drink mine with milk). I would buy this again, just because it’s a good detox tea and has a nice taste too.

When brewed correctly, this is one of my favorite teas to indulge in. I love the peachy floral notes in this delicate cup. It definitely is temperamental, and easy to turn into a bitter mess with oversteeping. That said, I keep the water relatively cool and steep time quick.

I bought this remembering the first time i had EGC at the Granville Island Tea Company when I was 18. This didn’t match my memory and was more malt and vanilla and less bergamot that I remember. My husband loved it and is sipping away.

Not sure if i got a bad batch as I ordered from DavidsTea on Amazon or if it just isnt for me. 2 tsp tea. 475ml water for 5 min as per the package.

I might make a Granville Island purchase to compare.

Edit: i tried a cup today at Davids Tea… I just dont like it.

I love this tea. Not only is it gorgeous to look at, but it’s delicate and fresh – like spring time in a cup. I’ll drink hot or cold and both are good. The cherry flavor is subtle and there are lovely, vegetal notes.

I’m not a big fan of the added candy bits, just because I don’t really have a preference for adding an sweetener to my tea. So, on it’s own, this tea is a bit meh for me. I actually like that the pumpkin flavor isn’t very strong, but I do wish the spice was a bit more. However, I tried adding a small pinch of lapsang souchong (which is a very smokey tea) and now it’s a go-to combo for a fall pick me up.

I really enjoyed this! I got a sampler kit from David’s tea and it had this in and- I don’t like roobios much, but this really did it for me! Sweet, spicy, good flavor and scent. Really nice cup on a cold winter night

This is my favorite celebration tea. I mean, c’mon. There are sprinkles in the tea! The end result is sweet and creamy tasting, and it really does remind me of eating cake. While I would not choose this as a daily drinking tea, it is invariably what I put in my cup during celebratory times.

Sipdown! On the 16th day of December, my tea advent calendar gave to me… another citrus pu’erh? What the heck? I definitely was less a fan of this than Juicy Orange. Perhaps the licorice root is the problem. Either way, it tasted pu’erh-y and not citrussy enough to overwhelm that flavour; I recall these same feelings when I first tried it.

I’m confused what you mean by another citrus pu’erh. Was this from this year’s advent calendar? We definitely 100% do not carry this tea currently. I think the only pu’erh teas we currently have are Juicy Orange and Chocolate Orange (exclusively online, and in the advent). Chocolate Orange is in the advent this year, but juicy orange isn’t…

Hahaha, sorry – my husband made up an advent calendar for me using teas I already had. As luck would have it, he put both Juicy Orange and Blood Orange puerhs in! I was just sad since neither were favourites, and surprised he managed to put in two DT citrus puerhs (what were the odds?!)

This was a really nice herbal ‘chai’ – I found that the coco flavors helped mellow out some of the harshness that sometimes comes if you steep chai for too long.

I really like this tea, but I feel like there are a few caveats to my recommendation. First of all, the aroma is STRONG – nearly overpoweringly so. I was brewing a cup in the kitchen, and my partner on the opposite side of the house asked if I was making pancakes. This one might be best enjoyed at home (as to not fumigate your coworkers with vanilla-maple fragrance). Secondly, it’s also really sweet. I have a killer sweet-tooth, and found that it really scratched my dessert itch, but if you don’t like sweets, you should probably stay away from this one.

All in all, I really enjoyed this tea as an afternoon pick-me-up, or in place of dessert. It tasted more like vanilla frosting than cake, but was a very nice treat. It did have the ‘dry’ mouthfeel that rooibos teas sometimes have, which for me is what keeps it from being perfect.

I suspect this is probably one that you will either love or hate.

I got more apple-butter than the described pumpkin-butter for this one, but I still really liked it. It was surprisingly smooth for a rooibos-based blend, and managed to be festively spiced (cloves and cinnamon) without veering too strongly into yankee candle territory. I found that the longer I steeped this one, the more the ‘pumpkin’ it tasted.

I really dislike walnut in foods, but for some reason, I love walnut-flavored teas. The flavor is so sweet and nutty. It goes really well with the green tea and the second brew is tasty as well. I got this as a sample in my summer order, and I am definitely impressed. There was enough in the bag to make a bigger cup than usual, and there was a huge walnut in there too. I would definitely order more of this…but I already made a Davids Black Friday order! I wasn’t supposed to order any more tea this year, but their sale was pretty good, and I ordered under a pound, so I wasn’t too too bad. Also sorry that this review isn’t on the official page for this tea. It redirects me to the Steepster home page when I click to review, so I’m leaving the review here!

Okay maybe I am just the outlier for this tea but I really actually enjoy this. Yeah, it lacks the pumpkin flavor smacking you in the face, but for what it is worth and for it being a chai tea, I loved it.

I will have to say that upon opening up the rainbow tin of this tea, I was regretting having not taking the time to stop and smell the tea leaves on this bad boy. I was worried because the smell is a bit repulsive when in the tin and not really the tea I got to to just sniff it. I decided to give it a try this morning as I have been waking up with upset stomachs every other day for most of the week. I am pleasantly surprised by the taste of tea blend.

Sipdown no. 123 of 2018 (no. 479 total). A sample.

Just enough to both taste for note-taking purposes and sipdown in a single steep.

The walnut smell coming out of the packet is quite intense. It’s not just walnut, though. It’s a sort of a sweet, candied walnut. That is likely the effect of the coconut and pineapple in the blend. It also says it has almond, which is interesting. Not sure why something called walnut would muddy the waters with almond?

But apparently, David knows what he’s doing because after steeping, what I mostly get is toasted walnut in the aroma. Some coconut, but not really any fruit and not any other nut. The tea is a lemon yellow color and cloudy.

The flavor is on the nose. It tastes exactly like what it advertised itself as, for which it gets some ridiculous number of points in my book. The coconut and pineapple are taste-able, but they mostly act as boosters of the toasted walnut flavor.

And the almonds? As the tea cools, I smell them as I stick my nose into cup to sip, but they, too, boost the toasted walnut flavor by enriching the nuttiness.

Pretty much a home run if you want a green toasted walnut tea.

I really don’t like DavidsTea pumpkin chai, so it was probably a mistake to buy this tea. It has the same weird flavor that I dislike. It’s like… artificial and smokey? Unsure how to describe it. I get absolutely no pumpkin of cheesecake vibes from this. I’ll have to add this to my pile of teas to exchange.

Not terrible, not great. Neither especially pumpkin-spiced, nor an especially good chai (unless we’re going with the literal “chai is black tea with spice added” definition).

I do get a hint of cloves and cinnamon in the scent, and a bit in the taste. It’s not sweet, despite the inclusion of pumpkin candies, but they don’t add much, either. It’s not a terrible black tea, but it’s not particularly good either.

I’m glad I only purchased 2 oz. It’s a bit disappointing, as I was hoping for a spicy fall treat, but I will drink it.

Sipdown no. 120 of 2018 (no. 476 total). A sample.

A sample of this has been staring at me for quite some time. I has just never seemed the right time to give it a try. Ordinarily, this would be the part of my tea tasting day where I’d be writing notes about a couple of greens that I’ve just opened, so that when I sip down the next take it to work tea I’ll have another choice for the one after that. But since I already derailed that project when I found the Canton silver needles sample, I thought what the heck. There’s just enough in this sample to both try the tea and sip it down.

First let me say that despite the description, I was extremely surprised by how fruity this smells in the packet. Pineapple and hibiscus is what I smell, even though as best I can tell there is no pineapple in this. Maybe it’s one of the flavoring agents? Under that is something floral. Even though I’m a major jasmine fan, I can’t say what I’m smelling is jasmine. It’s the strong fruity smell that is making it hard for me to discern the subtleties of the floral aspect.

I steeped according to the packet directions. As this is a mix of white and green tea, it looks like David went with green tea temperature and white tea steeping length.

The steeped tea is golden yellow and clear and has an earthy, hibiscus scent. I expected, because of that, for the tea to taste uncomfortably tart or even bitter. Happily, that is not the case.

What it does taste like is harder for me to describe. It’s easier to define it by what it is not. It isn’t terribly fruity, though I got so much fruity smell from the dry tea. There is some light, tropical fruit flavor around the edges which again reminds me of pineapple. The floral aspects of the tea open up more in the sip, and I do get some jasmine, but it is not a stand-alone jasmine so much as a contributing flavor. There’s a mild green-ish tea flavor underneath. Not super vegetal or super grassy. And also something like stone fruits in the mix.

It has a lot going on. I find the name a bit ironic, because I find it hard to let go of the busyness of this tea and just let it be.

Sipdown! It’s odd that I don’t have a rating for this, because I know I really liked it when I had it before. Despite its age, I still really enjoyed it. Light and sweet, maybe not cookie dough but a really pleasant dessert-y tea.
