Enjoying a LOVELY Mint Mocha Matcha this morning thanks to Red Leaf Teas wonderful matcha!

Yesterday I had a Butterscotch Bavarian Cream blend that was out of this world and today this.

I LOVE mixing matcha to come up with new flavors.

Today’s blend is really helping me sluff off the morning doldrums!

Eye opening mint with yummy mocha what could be better!?

My mint matcha review incoming soon.

Caramel Cheesecake Matcha – Matcha from Red Leaf Tea
I mixed half caramel and half cheesecake today.
It blends nicely allowing both flavors to come out.
Its so tasty!
This is not a 2 in 1 blend offered premixed on the Red Leaf site but one I mixed myself.
I would rather buy both flavors separately and mix them on my own so I can also have them as a single flavor.
This mixture is excellent!

I am drinking SOMETHING but I have NO idea what it is – after trying maybe 8 rooibos and 3 black tea bases for a custom blend – along with a tea for my daughter’s cold brew for work tomorrow, along with some from yesterday, and ummmm some green rooibos, I have no idea what the heck this even IS!
Its green some kind of fruit, maybe some spice? Sort of tastes like a Gurmans tea I have but I have not pulled out my Gurmans in over a week. Hummmm
Well its a re-steep and its good so I will log it here. Does this happen to others? I CAN’T be the only one!

Kittenna

Hahahahah!

Azzrian

:P lol what are you doing looking up really old logs?

Kittenna

I missed a big chunk of time at one point, and then the site was having issues so I couldn’t go back forever like I wanted, so I’ve taken to perusing the tealogs of people I’m following, because I missed out on some of their reviews!! You’ll see I liked like 20+ of your reviews tonight :P

Azzrian

LOL awesome.

CHAroma

Kittenna, I do the exact same thing! Sometimes the dashboard is too hard to follow, so I just look at individual people’s tealogs. Great minds think alike! ;)

Lately I have been mixing my beloved Strawberry Zabaglione with many things. The other day it was mixed with Butiki Good-morning Sunshine which was STELLAR I just want to say and this VERY early morning after an all nighter I am having it mixed with Traditional Guayusa from Runa Tea.
Why? Well I wanted to wake up as I have to take my daughter quite a ways across town for a work remote today (radio station thing) therefore wanted Guayusa. I also wanted some flavor and all I could focus on this morning was my beloved SZ. Although I was tempted to just go with Butiki again – I have to conserve my favorites so I went with SZ this time. ANYHOW … sorry blabbering – very sleepy still … Its really really REALLY good.
I think somehow the sweet flavor of the Guayusa mixes perfectly with the natural strawberry in the SZ. Its refreshing as all get out! I think that somehow the Guayusa almost makes the strawberry MORE strawberrish but maybe I am just really sleep deprived.
Could be both I suppose.
Well and now its gone – time for a re-steep then off across town then passing out cold – well I will drive home first of course.
:)

Reading back over this – it makes no sense – so just ignore what I thought of mixing with what and why – Obviously Im out of my mind. Regardless I am pretty sure I am not wrong about this tasting amazing. :)

Hahaha you are clearly tired :D But I think I understood!

Azzrian

lol thanks Krystaleyn. Got some sleep now but still so tired. My schedule is a mess!

LiberTEAS

I think that Frank should try a strawberry flavored guayusa. :)

Azzrian

I would certainly give that a purchase!

Golden Moon Coconut Pouchong + Lupicia Momo Oolong Super Grade …
Steeped the Coconut leaves three times – steeped the Momo four times yet both still had a nice aroma … so why not put them all in one pot and go for it!
:)
Very nice combo and you know I think that it has brought the peach back to life fusing with the coconut quite lovely.
I never would have thought to combine peach and coconut but I like it very much!

Smells pretty awful but tastes wonderful! Tart, sweet, fruity, vanilla comes through lightly giving a creamy flavor to the fruit and the mint is only an undertone – not in your face at all but very fresh and summery.
Why you may ask this combination? I was bored. I wanted something minty but that seemed a little MEH and I was hungry too so wanted something heavier. I would have done just the tisane but its so tart on its own, wanted to mellow it some, also there is no TEA in it!
BAM this was born.

Indigobloom

you’re an official tea blender now! ;)

Dylan Oxford

So when do we start buying Azz’s custom blends ;)

Azzrian

haha well not official as I did just blend to teas by OHTHER blenders however one day I shall buy some base teas and begin that journey. For now I have a lot of other roads to explore :)
I am anxious though because I have over 2 grand in essential oils to play with!

Missy

whistle Look at you Azz!

Indigobloom

OoooOoh, fun!

Dylan Oxford

… you have over $2000 in essential oils????

Kittenna

Sounds interesting!!

ChaMei

Azz, do you have suggestion for bergamot oil to flavour tea? I buy primarily from New Directions and was wondering if I should select the organic version. Plus how much to add? I’ve heard suggestion to use a drop at the end of a toothpick but to how much tea leaves, or is that to a cup of brewed tea? And if to dry leaves, how to blend? Maybe in a small sack in the dryer on tumble only?
To Dylan, it is VERY easy to spend that much on essential oils. I have that much and I’m not even an aromatherapist. Rose oil and Jasmine sambuca absolutes would necessitate me to take out a mortgage. LOL. (I wouldn’t really, so have sufficed with dilutions).

Azzrian

LOL so true ChaMei they are not cheap – I too buy from New Directions! I have not yet tried mixing or blending teas with EO’s but I would assume that they mean one drop per cup or gram or something like that.
Then again its also a preference thing right? Maybe have levels of bergamot – Easy Earl having the least, Ernest Earl having a fair amount, Extreme Earl the most. or something like that. I mean I don’t know if there are any hard set rules to how much bergamot in tea.
As for drying – again I have never tired this but I like your idea however I would prefer myself a more natural approach when possible I would probably play around with different bases finding the one that was both good and also absorbed the oil well enough that it would finish drying on its own without having to be tossed in the dryer. But again I have no clue what I am talking about here AT ALL.
Now if you need any medicinal advice lol let me know :)
Note: I am not a doctor (I think I have to say that legally)

ChaMei

I have never ingested E.O., although I know you can. In fact, Australian aborinals have medicinally used tea tree oil ( Leptospermem spp.) so called because billabong waters that had overhanging tea trees turned a tea-like brown color when the leaves dropped into the water pool.
I thought of using my laundry dryer because I think commercial operations tumble tea leaves to distribute flavours, not to dry them (I imagine they are already dry). I look forward to sharing blend ideas. I think it’s funny that bergamot was originally added to mask moldy tea and now we now use to create new flavours.

ChaMei

Argh, driving me nuts I can’t edit misspelling of Leptospermum. There, I guess I just did. In fact, I would love to italicize it for correctness’ sake. LOL.

Azzrian

LOL!
My concern about using a laundry dryer is that there may be things in it left behind by say detergents even though they are rinsed in the washer but also dryer sheets etc. I would think if that were a good method one would need a brand new dryer for just that purpose but again this is what I THINK lol.
I have no idea really.
Maybe I should play around a little this weekend if I have time.
End of month is always crazy for me with work.
Now as for ingesting EO’s SOME you can some you can not.
I have some EOs here in my collection that are literally deadly.
However, we use a lot of them daily for things from safe cleaning products to food flavorings, spices etc.
I live by Tea Tree Oil – that stuff is the best thing on earth!
If I could only have one oil for the rest of my life this would be it!
It tastes nasty but good for a lot of things!
Oh and as for scientific names lol forget about it I don’t know them myself although I am supposed to. Im not a brainiac.
I will start a PM with you and we can talk more about blending:)

I need a kick in the butt this morning, so I added 1 pu-erh tuocha from Teavivre and 1 tsp Pheonix Pearl from Zen Tea. The brew is coffee dark, has a nice kick, but is oh so smooth and sweet. WIN!

1 tsp Green Apple Matcha + .5 tsp Caramel Matcha + .5 tsp cheesecake matcha = Caramel Apple Cheesecake Matcha!

It was all I could do to not slurp up the whole bowl of perfectly frothed matcha while I waited for my milk to heat up to make a latte. It was worth the wait! YUMMEH!

MissMylin

That sounds so delicious! I can’t wait for my matcha to arrive already!!!

2 Shoppers brand chai tea bags + half a packet rolo hot chocolate = Caramel Chocolate Chai. Um, yeah. It’s freaking amazing!

Today is not a fancy day. I have to work at 5. Silly evening shifts screwing up my Saturday night party (…not!)

This also works EXTREMELY well with homemade hot chocolate – throw in 2 chai tea bags and go to town. Really yummy. I add a dash of cayenne pepper with the regular hot chocolate, but this one will remain spicy-free and full caramel all the way!

I need to try this!!

On a search for a minty tea to add to my re-steep of Luscious Watermelon – I couldn’t find anything! Except … Wintergreen Woods (both by DavidsTea).

I was kind of wanting a watermelon mint julep kind of flavour… but wow. This was SO GOOD. So refreshing!~ It was 3 tsp LW to 2 large pinches of Wintergreen Woods. Wow. Sweet and minty with full watermelon flavour, almost like a real watermelon puree. With a splash of bourbon and lots of ice – I was surprised!

This is one of the first blends I have ever successfully tried. Freaking yummy. Something to remember when I blend a few teas for public consumption ;)

Alphakitty

Mint and watermelon are so good together!

I looked into my sample drawer today… um I can finally see the bottom! Yay! Time for more swaps :D I just need to get paid so I can afford to send out a package. VERY excited for my next swap with aisling of tea though. Just so you know ;)

With my stash drawer low I’m feeling almost frugal with my tea, so I didn’t want to waste the leaves of Razzmatazz and Sweet Strawberry from DT. I combined the 2 single steeped leaves into my pot and cold brewed overnight.

The brew is a bit watery, due to being the second steep of both leaves I’m sure, but it’s really nice and fruity! The lemongrass/rooibos flavour of Razz is gone and just the sweet raspberry & strawberry flavours remain. I like that! The white tea lends a nice body to it and the 2 flavours go very well together, despite the bases/blends being totally different!

Happy summer fruity tea, aahhh.

This morning was my much needed attempt to recreate DavidsTea’s Love Tea #7 with what I had on hand. I needed a chocolate strawberry rose tea!

I’ve tried a combination of Dreidles&Donuts and Rose Congou before, but a 1:1 ratio was too much rose. This one worked perfectly though for my 45 oz pot!

3 perfect tsp Dreidles & Donuts: 1 perfect tsp Rose Congou.

It really is spot on! Well – at least enough to use up some of the tea I have on hand and satisfy my craving. It’s smooth and chocolately with a hint of strawberry and the perfect amount of rose scent. Love!

Can’t wait to ice the rest!

1tsp Zocolatte Spice, 1 tsp Black Tea, 1/2 tsp 52teas caramel vanilla chai!

I needed a treat to reward myself, so I wanted to try to make a perfect chai! I failed, however, I made it into a latte and it’s much better! haha.

So the reward was for launching my flash game website, GameThousand! If you’re into that sort of thing, you should check it out – I’ll put the link in the comments section so I’m not a spammer haha !! I’m so excited – it took me a few months because I’m self-learning everything, and it’ll be a little source of income for me while being super fun!

mm, I just sipped the tea.

Okay, so I made it extra strong because I knew it would be a latte, but when I took a sip before adding the milk, something was so bitter it was almost sour, ah! After the milk and a huge amount of vanilla syrup, all is well in Chai Latte town :D

The green cardamom pods from the Zocolatte add a brightness to it, while the super-clove from 52teas keeps it nice and spicy. There’s a dark chocolate note from the carob which I’m liking, and although it’s not even close to my perfect chai – it’ll do for now!

:D!

Daisy Chubb

If you’re interested, my new website is http://www.GameThousand.com
I’m hoping to start a tea website soon, which would host those seasonal swaps I’m anxious to host!

MissMylin

Too funny! I just tried the caramel vanilla chai today for the first time. And I talked about my quest for the perfect chai in my review. LOL I should try mixing my chais to see if I can come up with the perfect combo. You’ve inspired me!!

Are you still in Regina? I was there last month for work and to visit family. I dropped by the Davids Tea in Cornwall and was elated to find pumpkin chai since it was sold out at the Davids near me.

Daisy Chubb

Nice! I actually just moved to Halifax, but I had no idea Regina’s DT had a stach of pumpkin chai! Awesome, it’s soo good

Here you have it folks. My own custom herbal blend which includes plain honeybush (purchased in bulk from herb store), ginger root (cut open from a teabag), and a tiny pinch of cayenne pepper and nutmeg. Add soymilk (or whatever you prefer) and serve. Might be good with a bit of cinnamon too. It’s really so easy to make your own flavored herbal tea.

Holy Cow, you guys! I am an accidental genius! I had these bits of tea, not enough to make one potful, so I threw it together and it is amazing! Ok…maybe not amazing, but really good!

Coco Chai rooibos + Forever Nuts + Decaf English Breakfast = Yummy!

The first two are David’s teas and the last is a Metropolitan tea.

Now, one of my main complaints when I had Forever Nuts the first time, was that it wasn’t nutty enough and tasted too apple-y. In this crazy concoction though, the nuts really shine. It tastes mostly like walnuts, which is great with the mild spice from the chai. There’s some smooth coconut up front and the black tea is tying everything together.

So yums! I might have to make this on purpose one day. It’s like a lightly spiced nutty black tea that you can drink before bed!

So first trial of this blend, I think I went a little heavy on the pu’erh. I love the dark smoky note but it kinda overwhelms. I was worried about the peppermint taking over, but I think it could actually stand some more.

Witness, Steepsterites, the food of the gods!

So I took half and half of Caramel and Apple, both of Kusmi Tea.

It is a well-known fact that the Caramel is a beloved favourite of mine. I procured the Apple yesterday and was somewhat unimpressed, although not completely put off or disappointed.

On a whim this fine morning, I decided to see how they would fare in a mix. Would it in fact be something along the lines of caramel apples?

The answer is a resounding YES! Yes it is. Oh my giddy aunt!

If you happen to be in possession of these two teas at any point in your life, I would strongly recommend trying them in a mix.

Rabs

That. Is. BRILLIANT! Every inch of me wants to order these now, but I made myself a promise and will stick to it (must reduce tea in cupboard first). But you bet your sweet bippy that I will try this in the future. :D

Angrboda

I look forward to hearing if you experience with the mix was as thoroughly pleasant as mine. It completely took that initial problem I had with the apple out of the equation for me. I suspect now that I’m going to be having a LOT of fun with that apple tea. :D

wombatgirl

Yum!
I need a Kusmi tea order soon. :)

Ekkuru

This is the best thing I’ve ever heard since actual caramel apples! You’ve just saved two bags of apple tea I just happened to have laying around, I just made myself a pot and I’m almost on the floor geeking out. Thank you so much!

drank Cherry Pu'erh by Custom

Okay, yum. I made cherry chocolate tea, but only enough for one cup, which makes me saaaaad. Need more pu’erh, stat. Anyway, the cherry herbal blend I was using was laced with hibiscus and other pink additives, so I think I need to sift through it a little more before I blend it again. Dry, the cherry smell smacks you in the face, and that is only mitigated a little when it’s brewed. But drinking, it’s more the smoky pu’erh and just a touch of sweetness from the cherry. Need to make more.

Teavana Matevana + Teavana Chai/Chai blend = Cinnamon roll.

Yep, this is spectacular. I don’t particularly like Matevana, and I still have some I need to do something with. So, in an act of desperation I mixed 1 teaspoon of this and 1 teaspoon of the chai/chai sample that I had received with my order from them in hopes of making it enjoyable.

Turns out, that I created cinnamon roll tea!!! Really! It is the closest to cinnamon roll that I have ever had a tea taste. I am really surprised. It is so good a blend that next time I buy from Teavana I will get a bit of each of these teas so that I can get cinnamon roll goodness!!!

I also should probably mention that cinnamon rolls are one of my favorite sweets!!!

I am super happy that this worked out so well for me! I will have to try it with milk next time. : )

I sorely wanted some kind of candy cane tea, but I have nothing of the sort. (Note to self: buy at LEAST two kinds this year while every company is selling holiday blends.) As much as I love mintastic, I wanted a heavier and more caffeinated cup, so I threw it together with matévana.

The result? Perfection. The mint flavor is very strong, but the almost-coffee taste of the maté still peeks through — and for me, a mint lover, I can think of nothing better. I’m strongly considering recreating this as a signature blend on Adagio.

KeenTeaThyme

Go for it – as a signature blend. I really love how well Adagio blends up the customs. :)

Adeline

I probably will — I think it will make me feel very important.
