This is interesting. I didn’t like it at first because it tasted too much like bad apple juice, which I think was just the spices and the apple.

But as it cooled, or as I drank it, I really started to enjoy it. It’s different. I just don’t think you can tell that it’s white tea at all because so much is going on.

This was another RTD that I picked up from Safeway the other day, since I didn’t hate the mojitea I figured I’d be safe with another try from Argo. I like this one much better than the mojitea … LOTS of bits of ginger in it and I like that. I taste the touch of lemon and it offsets the ginger flavor a bit, which is nice, but I feel like the green tea gets a little lost in this RTD, but fortunately, it isn’t too sickeningly sweet so that’s a plus. I could definitely drink this one again.

Special thanks to Amanda for this one!

GUESS WHAT!?!?!?!?!

I passed my 5,000th Tasting Note!
This is actually my 5,002nd Tasting Note!

So…I think it’s time for me to give away some tea! If you would like to throw your name into the hat for a mystery box please leave a comment on this post! Tomorrow I will choose ONE person to start gathering teas for and in February I will mail a box out to the winner! It will be an assortment of teas, companies, sample sizes from my stash!

My thoughts on this tea…

It smells like a cross between crust, mushrooms, apples, and pepper, and popcorn.

It’s a yellowy color and the taste is very different from other apple whites I have tried.

The Pink Peppercorns threw me for a loop at first but I got used to them. The apple is toned down by the peppercorns but still present. I can tell there are spices at the begging and end of the sip…they are mellower.

This is ok. Ballsy mix of flavors here and I appreciate that! Not my fave but not bad either :) So glad I was able to try it!!!

TeaBrat

Wow – you are leaps and bounds ahead of me!

Infusin_Susan

Throwing my name into the hat :) I don’t know how you manage to rack up so many tasting notes — you are certainly dedicated!

Erin

Wow! That’s amazing! Way to go!

brandy3392

Throwing my name in the hat as well. Sounds like a very interesting tea.

silvermage2000

Nice review this seems interesting. Congrats for getting up to this tastenote.

SimplyJenW

Congratulations on your persistance! It is one thing to love tea, but quite another to log that many! You rock!

Erin

That is definitely amazing :D Throwing my name in too!

JoonSusanna

Hmm… a mystery box of tea? I would totally love that! Put me in the hat!

Also, congratulations on 5000! You must be the most well-hydrated of us all! :)

ashmanra

Congratulations! I wonder if I will ever hit that point? It will be a long time if I do!

Meeka

Cool, congrats! Have you kept a list of how many unique teas you have tried?

TeaEqualsBliss

Meeka – Not overall – but my log shows MOST of them! LOL – Wish I did tho!

The DJBooth

Nice! for 5,000 you gotta go big or go home

Cheryl

Congratulations on your 5000th post. Hip hip hooray for you : )

gmathis

Sal-OOOOT! for continuing to broaden my tea horizons. Who’da thunk there were 5,000 varieties out there? :)

Cattibrie

5000? That is amazing. I love reading your thoughts on the different teas. A mystery box of tea sounds amazing. Especially in the doldrums of winter in February.

SimpliciTEA

You cupboard is simply amazing. I count teas from 20 different companies from just the first three alphabetical pages! And what a diverse selection! I see many companies I have heard about, but mostly companies I have not. Do you have a Korean green tea? I know I have been wondering if the Korean greens are really different than the other standard Asian teas (I recently bought one Korean Tea from SanctuaryT, but it looks more a green tea/black tea blend than a pure green tea, so I question its validity, although it is good.) I see you have lots of Butiki and Culinary teas. We are really enjoying the Culinary teas, and I have heard good things about Bitiki’s teas. Congratulations on over 5000 notes!

ChariTea

Congratulations!! Thats a lot of tea :)

Dinosara

Wow congrats! On to 10,000, eh? :D

Tabby

I’ll enter! And wow, that’s a lot of notes! I was pleased with myself when I reached 250, haha. I can’t even conceive of 5000!

kOmpir

I’m in, fingers crossed :)
P.S.
I’d like to see a pic of your tea stash, it must be humongous. :)

K S

Just thinking about 5000 tasting notes makes me want to pee. Well, it could be the six cups I had today.

Madeline Alyce

I think I got to 4 tasting notes and then dropped out! I love to talk about tea, drink tea, read about tea, but I feel like a babbeling idiot when I try to review tea! I always end up saying things like, “I hope that makes sense” haha

SimpliciTEA

MadelineAlyce: I couldn’t help but look at your reviews after this comment of yours: ‘babbling idiot’ Ha! I could easily be named a babbling idiot (I definitely feel like it, at times). I like what you tell me in your reviews. Anyway, hopefully you write them more for you than for us (I write my reviews first and foremost for me). For instance, I used to journal; but I haven’t for a while, now, partially because writing out here, in a sense, meets my need to express what I am thinking/feeling inside (although the context of Steepster is in a much more confined subject arena than a journal is). Steepster BOTH spurs me on to write, AND to put my stuff out here to all of you wonderful tea aficionados/writers, which in turn helps me to feel heard, and, most importantly, to feel connected to others of a like mind. So, please, unless you don’t want to, keep posting reviews! : – )

sarai

holy cow that is super impressive!!!

I agree with kOmpir – Your collection must be HUGE!

Cannabuzz

Woohoo!!! Congrats!! You are the cornerstone of Steepster, seriously!!! Here’s to another 5000! :)

ssajami

Alana237

Congratulations on your 5000th!

Mélissa

5000 :O That’s a lot of different teas, congrats.

KeenTeaThyme

I may be too late for the hat throwing in thing, but congrats on the number of posts anyway! :) I agree with Stephanie that you are the “cornerstone of Steepster.” You’re also one of my favorite tea friends. :)

TeaEqualsBliss

Awwwww – thanks girls :)

Frolic

Congrats!

Ninavampi

Super congrats! Exciting! : )

Tamm

Congratulations! I’m glad that your resource of knowledge and reviews is here for me to view! :) I’m going to throw my lot in for this give away and I look forward to hear who the winner is! :)

Scatterbrain

Congratulations, I look forward to the day when I reach that milestone. I must say that in the short time I’ve been using steepster, your reviews have been among my favorites. It would be amazing if I was chosen as I have virtually no money to spend on tea (I’m 17 and currently have no job). So I hope that you will consider me for your giveaway, it’s a very generous thought. Either way, congratulations and best wishes. :)

tigress_al

Wowzers! That is a lot of tea….yummy! You must have developed quite a taste palette after trying so many different kinds and brands of tea. I am just getting into tyring different brands of tea. Congrats!!

Anatta

Attempting to enter said hat.

tea-sipper

Congrats on 5,000! That is a LOT. I’d love to enter for winning the tea! thanks for the chance

YukonQuirm

Holy Cow – may you always have a loo near by – that’s a lot of tea passing through your system.

drank Mojitea by Argo Tea

I found this at my local supermarket and decided to give it a try. I wish I had examined the bottle a little more closely because I probably would have chosen a different tea had I realized it was a peppermint herbal tisane. But, aside from that, this is a pretty decent ready to drink. A bit sweet, and I would have liked it better I think if it were not as sweet, but it isn’t as sweet as some other ready to drink teas I’ve tried. I will keep my eye out for some of Argo’s other RTD to see if I like them better.

momo

It tastes so much better if you dilute it with some sparkling water or club soda but of course that means not drinking it from the awesome bottle.

LiberTEAS

Yes… and that is why I purchased it to begin with… I liked the bottle! LOL Silly, I know, but I’m a sucker for cool packaging.

momo

lol that’s exactly why I bought it too! I got that one and the Carolina honey, now I use them for taking iced tea on the go.

Janefan

they are awesome bottles. Peel off the label and they are great to reuse! I’ve put both the bottles and lids in the dishwasher numerous times and they do fine.

I have a) had it made at Argo and b) diluted it when I had the bottled version.

At Argo, you can get it made with sparkling water instead of still, which makes it a lot better. When I had the bottled version, I did like a 4 parts of the tea to 1 part of club soda, and it’s a lot more enjoyable that way. It’s not very much like tea, but if you’re lazy and want a mojito you really could just add some rum to this and be set.

drank Red Velvet by Argo Tea

Had this with breakfast, the name is clearly deceiving because it’s not really like the cake at all. It’s like a rooibos latte with raspberry and white chocolate. Those are 3 things I love, but the raspberry was just a bit too syrupy for me after about half the drink.

Cool idea though. I think I am going to just get a plain tea from there tomorrow.

Just got home from nightfloat. This is day 2! I always have this strange boost of energy around 7am hence the tea drinking. I figure I will become sleepy again. I steeped this for a shorter time because I wanted to try to avoid the bitterness. Again, the crushed up leaves don’t appeal to me.

Sip… am I drinking straight up hot water? This is a tea that I can’t get right. I drank this down so I have none left. I am thankful for that for sure! Now I can open up and try another tea!

This tea is bitter today. I can’t wait til I’m done with this tea. Blah…

Today was my last day of ICU. I’m a little sad about it because I enjoyed it. The nurses and attendings are all so awesome. My fellow resident and I went out to eat then she drove me home. I came home craving some tea and settled for this. Bad decision. I will make a different tea later. blah!

I’m just glad I only have enough left for one tea.

This white tea is crushed up. I’m not sure if its from handling or not. It smells like a strong white tea, and it is a pretty flavorful, strong tea. Meh…

I paid attention to my steep times this time around. I was pleasantly surprised. This turned out to be a nice tea. There is still a tinge of astringency but I believe its due to the matcha that is infused in this tea. Good basic tea overall.

My sister had gotten me a bunch of Argo Tea samples a while ago. I finally opened this up and transferred its contents into a washi tin. :) The sencha’s leaves are covered with green powdery matcha! Yum! I couldn’t wait to steep it. I don’t want to rate this right now since I steeped this longer than I should have and it came out a bit astringent and bitter. The smell was great, green, and creamy. The taste was good in the beginning and was just like it smelled except for the astringency and bitterness. I need to try again :)

I LOVE this tea. Such a graceful flavor with a nice black tea profile. This is the last of my stash. It will be missed.

This is such a great basic flavored tea. Oddly, I LOVE honey teas but rarely put honey IN my tea. The flavor tastes very crisp and clean. As an aside, this tea does perfectly well when made using microwave water (as the micro is my only option at work).

The honey is strongest at the beginning of each sip. As the taste cools the black tea becomes more powerful and the honey flavor more slight. The flavor is very natural and does not taste artificial.

This was my morning travel companion for my commute to work. This is a great, smooth, black tea with hints of Honey and lemon. I am upping my score from my note — I truly love this tea.

This was a great tea to start my morning. Not super astringent and has a great mouth feel. While this tea is flavored it is not overly so. The flavors compliment the tea and are in the backround.

drank Mango Mambo by Argo Tea

Drinking this now. Nice basic black tea with mango overtones. Not super fruity.

I had to microwave the water and am not sure of the temp. I made it pretty hot because this is a black. I steepted it for 4-5 minutes as intructed by Argo.

This tea is so beautiful. First of all, I didn’t even need to use a drain. Then as it was cooling off, it gave off this flowery and subtle aroma, and the color is lovely. A warm purply fuchsia. Every sip I take is full of the scent and the color and alas, the taste. It’s sweet and tart. I am happy that I have this new tea. It’s best when it’s hot, and you can steep it for as long as you want because it doesn’t get bitter. Definitely try this! I am increasingly inspired with each sip, this tea is just positive.

Bought this purely for the glass. I love POM glasses. This is my new POM glass. Now with lid!

…but I won’t talk about the packaging here. This tea was alright. Four ingredients. I taste three. Decent black tea base. Enough honey in there to add sweetness and a cakey texture to my tongue post-drinking. Sugar. I don’t taste the “splash of lemon” too much. Maybe it’s more a drop of lemon. It’s an above average RTD. Tastes more like tea than the average RTD, yet it seems awkwardly in the middle between standard sweet RTD tea-juice and loose iced tea. Not something I plan to keep stocked in my fridge. I kind of want it a little sweeter. I will return for the other flavors so I can have more glasses though.

A nice super rice heavy genmaicha. Not my favorite though, I like ones that have some matcha thrown in for good measure. Still a good basic genmaicha that I like to have in the afternoon, it also makes me super hungry.
