This is the first time I have ever tried real rooibos, and I am passionately in love. It is warm, rich, and hearty—it almost tastes as if it’s got protein in it. :) It almost reminds me of Suntory whiskey; not that it tastes of alcohol, but rather that unique, full, sweet, brightness. Really, really excellent; my search for a low-caffeine alternative has ended; now to try all the variants I can find!
Lime has always been one of my favorite flavors in everything from juice to candy, but I still don’t think I’ve ever encountered a retail product quite so !! as this. It’s almost overpowering when brewed hot, so I can see why people who aren’t as enamored of the flavor are turned off, but I have a feeling this would make absolutely divine iced tea.
This tea tastes just like Froot Loops to me! Especially if you steep it for 4 minutes or more. It brews up yellowy green and smells like lemons. Really refreshing. I can’t wait to try it cold. I’ll probably be ordering more. However, I think you should go with two teaspoons instead of one per cup.
Nearing the end of the supply I bought when I found out this was being discontinued. To make it stretch since I’ve gotten pretty fond of it, I’ve brewed two teaspoons of this and three of Adagio’s English Breakfast in this pot. The pineapple taste is less powerful this way, but I honestly like it better. I can enjoy the Ceylon paired with the standard English breakfast’s smooth malt flavor.
Preparation
This sounded so good when I ordered it. I’m crazy about anything pear, but this… it was a huge disappointment. Even when brewed with twice as much tea as recommended, it still barely has any flavor. And what flavor you do get tastes nothing like pears. The tea itself doesn’t even really smell like pears. When I drank my last cup, there was a kinda unpleasant aftertaste, but mostly I could only taste the sugar I put in it. :(
I couldn’t personally pick out the different flavors in this one.. I just thought it was “fruity” but more in the mixed berry sort of way.. strange, seeing as it’s coconut, a usual favorite of mine! Perhaps it’s just the way this is blended? A nice afternoon tea, or dessert after a filling dinner.
This is a pretty good tea. The only issues I have with it, are the facts that it a) need a sweetener, and b) the leaf is small enough, that it always falls through my infuser (aka, it needs to be in a filter). Other than that though, it works well for a sweet pick me up in the mornings..
Before I say anything, I need to say that the blueberry flavor in this is STRONG. So strong that my ingenuiTea smelled like blueberries for a week. Aside from that, this is a good tea. Not my favorite blueberry tea, but it’s still very good. I’d definitely recommend it.
