467 Tasting Notes
Nice black base. The calendula petals make the mix look lovely. Mango flavor is pleasant, not pushy. This tea is similar to other fruit flavored black teas that I’ve had. I wonder if the flavors will pop mire if cold brewed. Luckily, the lovely and generous Sarsonator gave me enough to brew some up. I’ll report back with a cold brew update.
Preparation
Thank you Laurent from Nina’s for this free sample. It is so kind when a tea company sends out samples to try. Nice variety! This is nice medium body black with some lovely fruity flavors. Feels fresh and, hum… good. The fruit is not overwhelming like some flavored teas. I was worried that there might be hibiscus in there (red teas often try to hide hibiscus) but no worries. Not overly sweet like a dessert tea but it would probably go well with a fruity dessert. I think it might be good cold brewed.
Preparation
Back to a favorite tea. Sometimes I get so into trying all the samples/swaps that I forget that to go back to my favorites. After a less than successful peach tea a few minutes ago (went down the drain ;-p) I brewed up a favorite cuppa! The fig in this tea almost makes me swoon! I love Fig Newtons but do you know how many calories are in a Fig Newton. 100 cal in two cookies for the low fat. Well it doesn’t sound too bad until you think about how many you would actually eat. I’d start off like a good girl and just eat 2 … then later in the day a couple more, then late at night before bed, another couple. The tea is a much better choice! This tea is too sweet for every day but when I am in need of a comfort tea, this is it!
Flavors: Fig

I love peaches and thought this was just the tea to brighten my day but… I agree with jump62359, bitter, odd orange zest, weak tea flavor. No sense of peach flavor. :-( Not going to finish this.
Flavors: Orange Zest

I love my almonds and I love my amaretto! Nice strong amaretto aroma and taste. I find that sweetening this tea is the key to success for me! A very nice herbal. I wonder about that description from David’s :
“Never heard of lapacho? Sometimes called “the tea of the Inkas,” people of South American have been using it for ages to cure just about everything, including a lacklustre love life. Get ready: your next grand romance is just a cup away.
I guess I will have to wait to until my husband gets home to see about the romance in a cup part. :-)
I think would pair very well with anything chocolate! Very enjoyable dessert! Thanks for this lovely tea Hapatite!
Thanks for this sample Hepatite! Thanks for giving me enough to put in the Brevile since I have to use enough tea for 2 cups. That is about the only problem with a Breville, it has to make a minimum of 500 ml.
Caleb Brown from Handmade Tea was kind enough to respond to my question about purchasing from Handmade Tea. All I had been able to see on line was their subscription program. :-( But Caleb let me know that now they also have started having a General Store where tea purchases have been made available to us without a subscription. :-D
Preparation
When I read the other tasting notes and tried my tea, I was confused. The color described ranged from golden yellow to coral and pink. Mine was a nice light yellow. Some people said hibiscus… no sense of hibiscus for me. ? Maybe I needed to steep longer I noticed a lot of finer bits in the bottom of the sample bag so I have no idea what my next brew will be like.
Nice pear flavor after lightly sweetening it. Thanks Hepatite for the swap! Good afternoon cuppa when I should be cleaning up the kitchen. It’s more fun to take a break.
On to other excitement… I lost 3.8 lbs this week even with no exercise because of my sprained knee. Of course I had gained 3 lbs last week because of the stupid knee. But at least I’m back on track!
I had this one today, also, and was just about to post! I drank mine unsweetened, and I wasn’t picking up any pear. Maybe I need to try this again with a bit of sugar, since I still have a little bit left.
I tried it iced and it was quiet pear-y, but it tasted a bit weak. I’d recommend it iced and overleafed.
The knee is getting better but I still can’t exercise because it isn’t healed. I notice that every time I start to increase my exercise the knee is killing me later. I’m please with the weight loss but I need to work harder on being consistent. Up 3 lbs, down 3 lbs! Not great, but I feel good to do .8 when I can’t get any exercise. :)
I know exactly what you mean about the exercise. I screwed up my wrist bad in the fall (I fell, they thought it was broken, then said it was’t broken, then thought maybe it was broken, did a really expensive test to determine it wasn’t broken, blah blah blah…) and I really struggled with exercising then since a lot of what I do involves me using my wrist and hand. I did some running, but then last winter happened and I refuse to run in that much cold. And then I got really bad bronchitis. I was actually pretty pleased with myself that I only gained about 5 lbs in that whole time, but my clothes just don’t fit the same at all. I’ve lost so much muscle.
Just take it easy with the knee, do what you can but do not hurt yourself worse! I’m glad it’s getting better. Soft tissue damage can take a while to get better.
I have received a lovely and generous sample from Hapatite. Thank-you!
I have been lucky enough to have two samples which I have enjoyed very much. I really do have to get some of this for myself.
The pale color always surprises me because I have that ‘chocolate’ word in there. They got the chocolate taste and the banana well blended. I don’t taste half the flavors they mention… apple pieces, pineapple?? Doesn’t matter! The flavors blend well to give me a satisfying dessert tea substituting for real desserts.
Thank-you Hapatite for this lovely sample from Handmade Teas. I haven’t had a yerba mate with mint before and I really like it. I don’t taste any berry flavor but that’s okay. I think this would also be a nice cold brew… nice wake up quality and yummy fresh mint. It’s too bad that it’s not readily available.
