408 Tasting Notes
Thank you so much Angel from Teavivre for this lovely sample and thanks too for providing us such an high Jasmine tea quality.
The pearls are really small little marbled green and brown pearls. The liquor is a pale yellow, very pale yellow.
The texture is silky and the taste reveals a soft jasmine, very natural and not overwhelming.
This is probably one of the very best jasmine teas I had for sure.
Preparation
I am enjoying this cup right now before going to bed. Tomorrow I have to wake up at 4 o’clock to take the first train to Montpellier (south of France…not Montpelier in Vermont, unfortunately because Vermont sounds really much exotic to me !) to see a client.
I hate going to bed too early…
This is a tea sample I got a long time ago from TerriHarpLady and it is a quite nice foral Oolong.
Since a little while now I am drinking very very few flavoured teas (except Earl Greys). I think I’m going to post soon a giant tea swap proposal with a lot of my flavoured teas.
I still appreciate drinking some time to time like this smooth, light Oolong with light buttered notes. The coconut is absolutely not overpowering so it’s really refreshing and delicate. Lovely. Thank you Terri.
Flavors: Butter, Coconut, Floral
Preparation
It’s funny that you think Vermont sounds more exotic than France, when I would never think that! Just shows that no matter where you live, there’s always a longing to see other places. The grass is always greener on the other side, I suppose!
I’m finding that I don’t enjoy flavored teas as much now either.
I’ve never been to Vermont and I’ve only been to eastern France, near Germany, but I’m pretty sure France is probably more awesome than Vermont :)
This is an Ali Shan Oolong sent by Angel from Teavivre. Angel, thank you a thousand times.
I am an oolong drinker. My preferences in terms of Camellia Sinensis generally go to these teas and black straight Taiwanese teas .
There is no exception with this Oolong, I appreciate it but probably less than many others. This tea is extremely light and floral, the liquor has also a delicate smell of spinach. Its color is a very pale yellow, translucent. You can see the bottom of the cup effortlessly. Mineral notes are also present, especially late in the sip.
The texture of this tea is extremely creamy, soft, almost silky. It’s lovely.
I think I was wrong by choosing this Oolong to be my morning tea. It is not the appropriated tea for me at this moment of the day .But this tea is exceptional and I’ll enjoy drinking it in the evening and even just before bedtime.
Preparation
Nxtdoor, don’t even know if they say it like that in France, but here in quebec it’s a cute way to say “your face”.
This is a fantastic Oolong tea which I unfortunately only get an adorable sample given by Adagio Breeze. thank you very much for sharing.
The Oriental Beauty teas come from Taiwan and are quite oxidized. Such oxidation is due to the presence of an insect, kind of tea leaves eater … in reaction, and for their protection, the leaves begin an intensive oxidation process.
At first glance, you think more of a black tea as an Oolong because the leaves are dark and long and not rolled like most oolongs. But Oriental Beauty are like that. It is therefore classic. The leaves of this one do not have a very strong scent, hard to decide about this tea at this stage.
I like the Oriental Beauty teas in general, but this one is especially tasty. May be less smooth than those I have tasted so far but with different and very harmonious fruit notes: apricot, peach, plum .. they are definitely there. Delicious. And Honey would you ask? There is also there as in any good Taiwanese tea.
This tea, in my opinion, is more lively in the mouth than other Oriental Beauty teas with more roundness and mellowness. This is another aspect of this type of tea that does not displease me.
A cup of tea I highly recommend.
Preparation
Yes ! another new tea at the hotel I generally sleep near Aix en Provence. It was a sachet : lovely leaves in a pretty muslin. Quite neutral and pleasant taste, made to please the largest audience.
Not an high character tea but a nice cup to begin the day for sure !
Preparation
Thank you Adagio Breeze for this tea.
It is a little too mild for me but not a bad tea at all.
Very refreshing in those hot days here (36°c) and one of the few teas I am able to drink hot since 1 week.
It seems to be a straight tea but it is so much sweet and fruity it can make think to a light flavoured tea.
My daughter adores it. Lovely
Preparation
This is a sample I got from TerriHarpLady, thank you so much Terri for sharing.
For an unknown reason I thought it was a plain tea not a flavoured one . I’m having this tea for my breakfast and this is a pleasant fruity break.
I don’t have much to say about this naughty vicar except praying its smoothness and its good taste of black currant. None atringency even if I stupidely left it steep for 6 minutes, so it is clearly a docile tea.
Pleasant even if not something I would add to my cupboard.
Flavors: Black Currant
Preparation
Who are you Black Pearl Sumatra ? I mean who are you, really ?
You’re supposed to be an Oolong and you look like an Oolong (rolled leafs) but you taste like a light bodied black tea. Are you a double agent ? Classified as an OOlong but working for Black teas ?
You’re quite good and I am happy Dexter put you on my way. Thank you Dexter
You get some fruity notes as well, and yes apples seem to match very well to your taste even if you get some apricot as well.
You’re very delicate and lovely, you are the perfect tea to have whenever I don’t want something too heavy in the morning or in the evening.
Preparation
Haha! What a perfect note this was! Classified oolong….working for the Black Tea Organization.
You are right, this one is a double agent :-)
Those double agents! Perhaps we should let the Tea Justice League know about this. However, it sounds like they are a benevolent.
This is a tea I was wanting to try for a very long time. Someone gave me this opportunity by sending a sample of it and…I forgot who ! Maybe MissB ? so sorry but thank you so much !
This is an American blend. A good one. I don’t really know how to explain that but there is something in the blend that tastes american. different from my usual european blends. Florence gets this taste an this odour as well.
I appreciate the nuttiness of Florence, the sweet almonds and the sweet chocolate. Everything is so sweet and mellow, kind of sugar cloud.
I am very happy to taste Florence even if this not a tea I’ll add in my shopping list.
