drank Alpine Punch by DAVIDsTEA

Fruit punch with almonds and spices. Yum! One of my all-time favorites to reach for on cold winter nights. I’m glad Davids keeps bringing this back the last few years. November 2014 Tea of the Month. And this completes my Tea of the Month 2014 collection sipdown. I drank them over a period of about 2 weeks, and reviewed most of them today!

Blueberry and cinnamon. The latter should compliment the former, not be tasted in equal measure. So this blend errs on the side of too much cinnamon I think. But, it was a pleasant sipdown. It made me smile, “like a hug in a cup”. Indeed. I got two cups out of my September 2014 Tea of the Month collection sample, and quite enjoyed it… but not enough to order any more.

I wasn’t expecting to like this tea, and I was surprised by joy! Love this sweet and tart pomegranate blend. Looking forward to a second cup, and ordering some for my cupboard. A very unique fruit punch with a natural taste not overpowered by flavorings. August 2014 Tea of the Month. This is my birthday month tea. So, I’m happy that it brews up hot pink, since pink is my favorite color. :)

drank Magic Dragon by DAVIDsTEA

A light, fruity herbal, perfect for summer. This tastes like the color pink (if pink had a taste).
I don’t think I’ve ever actually eaten dragon fruit. So, I’m not sure if it really tastes like that or not. But, the fruit in this brew reminds me of a juicy star fruit a little, but less tart and with a bit of gentle floral. I love dragons and pink, so this tea is a keeper for me. July 2014 Tea of the Month.

drank Hot Tropic by DAVIDsTEA

Over-the-top sweetness. The coconut and fruit blended well. Maybe I’m just not in a summer frame of mind today. It’s raining and overcast, and brewing this tea hot just didn’t send me to paradise. It wasn’t bad! It just wasn’t very memorable. But, my boyfriend loves pina coladas so maybe I’ll order some for him. This was June 2014 Tea of the Month.

drank Chocolate Macaroon by DAVIDsTEA

Love it! Rich, nutty, and sweet. The primary flavors are chocolate, coconut, and black tea and the balance in this blend really strikes a chord with me. A great dessert substitute on days when my sweet tooth wants some attention. May 2014 Tea of the Month.

drank Coconut Oolong by DAVIDsTEA

This blend tasted natural and well-balanced to me (rather than artificial). But, I have other coconut blends. And I’m still in love with my Long Life Oolong. So, I think I’ll skip adding this one to my cupboard for now. It’s a very nice tea though. April in the 2014 Tea of the Month Collection.

Zesty is right! Would you like some tea with your spice?! haha. But, joking aside, I enjoyed this tea. Planning to buy some more when I run out. Heavily spiced with cinnamon, cloves, and oranges. Didn’t really taste the chili pepper. Maybe it was just the heat that lingers after each sip. It reminds me of a local blend called “Market Spice” from the Pike Place Market in Seattle—only that tea has a black base.

drank Chai On Life by DAVIDsTEA

There’s so many other, better chai blends. The white tea came out rather bitter when I brewed it. I don’t care much for lemongrass, and that ingredient weighed heavily in the taste. Thus, I didn’t like this tea. I made one cup, and it was tolerable. This was January in the Tea of the Month Collection 2014.

drank Hibiscus Punch by DAVIDsTEA

I expected to hate this tea, but I didn’t. It was rather pleasant to drink. I think that’s because when I brewed it, the hibiscus took a back seat to the fruitiness and ginger spice. (I’m not a huge fan of hibiscus. But, sometimes it works well in a blend.) But, this tea didn’t knock my socks off. Pretty forgettable, thus it scores just an average 3-star rating. This was March in the 2014 Tea of the Month 2014 collection I bought in December. I just recently finished all 12 samples. But, I didn’t have time to review all of them when I drank them. So, this tea was one of the ones I don’t remember very well.

Flavors: Fruit Punch, Ginger, Hibiscus

Bio

I admit it: I’m a DavidsTea fangirl. I’ve dabbled with Teavana, Tazo, and random others. But DavidsTea is where my love of loose leaf started back in 2009, and their blends continue to surprise and delight me.

I drink tea almost every day. My favorite variety is green tea, but I also enjoy pu’erh, oolong, white, herbal tisanes, rooibos, and certain flavored black teas.

In my head, I rate my teas on a 5-star system, so for Steepster I’ve devised the following system:

90 – 100 = “5 stars”
All time favorites and inspired blends

75 – 89 = “4 stars”
Quite enjoyable—would like a 2nd cup! Might order this tea for my cupboard

50 -74 = “3 stars”
Nothing about this tea stands out. It might be an odd or unbalance blend. One cup is enough to satisfy my curiosity.

25 – 49 = “2 stars”
Tolerable, but I definitely wouldn’t buy it again.

0 – 25 = “1 star”
Can’t even finish the first cup
