I wasn’t expecting the smokiness so I didn’t care for this at first. I was expecting more from the orange as well, although in fairness, my sample is several months old and citrus oils are pretty volatile. I’d probably give it about a 65 rating right now, but I’d like to try to re-rate once I try it again in a smoky kind of mood. (Let’s see if I remember to document that, though!) I saw someone mentioned dates in the flavors section, and I actually agree with that although I never would have thought of it. It’s definitely a nice tea, I’m just not sure what I think about it yet.

Yes, it was a bit too much to detect individual flavors, but it turned out to be a generally drinkable, OK chai.

Deliciously fruity fragrance, but none of it carries into the flavor. Mine just tastes bitter/woody/acrid/astringent and just kind of gross. It’s such a disconnect it’s rather jarring. The aftertaste is vaguely fruity, I guess. It might be partially a brewing issue because of the green tea/rooibos combo, but this is so awful I don’t even want to try again. And frankly, I didn’t brew it too terribly hot, nor too very long.

I was underwhelmed by this one. The tea base had some of that coffee-style bitterness that just didn’t play well with the brightness of apricot. It was fine, but totally forgettable.

I’m so excited! I’m usually so bad at picking up the various notes, and I’ll read reviews and be wondering what the heck I drank compared to what everyone else has to say! This time, I actually DID figure out the sweetness and the chestnut notes, so I’m honestly rather proud. It’s a very light tea in steeped color, so light it made me wonder if I’d done something wrong. And unsurprisingly, it doesn’t have a super strong flavor, but it’s still plenty strong. It’s lightly astringent in a good way, and doesn’t have any grassiness or spinach flavor, which is my turnoff in green teas. I wouldn’t necessarily rebuy just because it’s not my – cup of tea – but it’s very nice.

I don’t get true sweetness from this tea at all. There’s a mild earthiness with the brightness of peach. I don’t know if I’m tasting pear or not, but I do smell it. It’s refreshing but still appropriate for a cool autumn day. (I used a lot of leaf but that’s because it’s lots of flat leaves – measuring a teaspoon full doesn’t give you what you’d ordinarily expect from a teaspoon.)

I love this tea! I get a lot of jasmine from it, in a good way. I don’t really get a peach flavor, but there is something about the fruitiness of the aroma. It actually makes me think of a specific variety of jasmine my grandfather used to grow. The green tea is present and strong enough without throwing off the balance. This is somehow very refreshing yet comforting.

I’m beginning to think I’m just a tea drinker along the lines of beer drinkers who think Miller Lite is awesome. I think I just like the Miller Lites of teas. I’m reading everyone else’s notes and this just sounds so lovely. It basically tastes like spinach water to me. I can tell it’s made with care, and the leaves are lovely. I’m not going to give it a numerical rating since apparently I’m too gauche to appreciate good teas. :D

I’m sorry, this one really didn’t impress me. There was nothing wrong with it, but absolutely nothing to stand out. It was very nice and smooth with almost no astringency, but it just made me think of a run-of-the-mill but decent restaurant hot tea.

This is a very nicely done tea, I just don’t personally care for it. However, I do think it is high quality – so I won’t leave a numerical rating since it doesn’t seem fair to rate an objectively good tea low. To me, it had too much of the vegetal flavor, almost like (I imagine) toasted spinach tastes like. It was very smooth and somewhat sweet and toasty. Again, high quality, just not my…cup of tea.

Wife, mom of 2 crazy young kids (and 3 cats, if they count). Used to be a professional tree hugger, now I stay at home hobbit-like and teach the kids to love the trees. Also hobbit-like, I love reading, tea, second breakfasts, cooking and food in general, and gardens. (I can’t really say I love gardening since where I live, it’s too dratted hot for too much of the year to actually do it.) I am always on the search for a good flavored decaf black tea. Suggestions are more than welcome!

I tend to like my teas strong, so I use more than most people when I brew. Don’t be put off a tea because I say I used 4 tsp to brew 12 oz or something – that’s just me.

PS – Unlike a hobbit, my toes are not furry. I just feel the need to clarify.
