125 Tasting Notes
So this is the second of the three samples I got from Tea from Taiwan, and I am sad because I don’t feel like I did it justice. I am saving the last one for a day when I can really focus on my tea making and not be so distracted by papers.
So 1st steep was just ok, very earthy, not as sweet and light as I like my oolongs to be. Second steep I let sit WAAAAY to long so that’s my fault, and then I only got the chance to have one more that day. The last one was nice, still deeper and smoother than the milk oolong I reviewed from them a few weeks ago. I liked it but I think I would have liked it more if I had of done a better job with my preparing.

DavidsTea Advent Calendar Day 2!
Oh hello there my old friend. How are you? Yes I didn’t sleep well last night because I am freaking out that I got nothing done yesterday. Please make me productive this morning.
This is still my favorite blend ever. It is just so delicious and chocolately. I think what makes it so amazing is how warming it is. You really don’t need to add anything to it. It makes me realize why some people like coffee, because when you have something this comforting and energizing, of course you are going to drink it all the time.
I wish there was a night time equivalent of this tea for when I want to stay up but I don’t want to be bouncing of the ceiling. Any suggestions? And I don’t think it is possible to oversteep this one.
Preparation
You know what’s funny, the one I had yesterday was not the best either. I honestly normally have no problems with leaving it for as long as I like, and I usually pay no attention to the water temperature either because I had been drinking it for 6 months when I realized I was brewing it wrong. Maybe try adding more leaves and steeping it longer? That’s all I can think I usually just dump a bunch in from the tin. I just made another cup from the advent calendar and I don’t feel it is as good again….
guys, you should email customer service and let them know! i think it’s just customerservice@davidstea.com Sweet Canadian, Love tea #7 is a chocolate strawberry blend that I love! it’s a black tea but i don’t find it crazing energizing. however, im pretty impervious to caffeine.
Ok I think it is safe to start my daily 24 Days of Tea tasting notes. If you haven’t opened yours yet today, well you need to get on that.
I had this tea yesterday morning as well, but I think I brewed it up more nicely today. Made it as a latte both times. It is quite delicious, and a great way to start off the holiday season. I ALWAYS forget this one is low caffeine though, who knew? It has a rich, sweet, buttery flavour that will please any pallet. I think my mom liked it too (I gave her the advent calendar for her birthday so that she could try a bunch), her comment was yes this is quite a nice black tea. It reminds me a little bit of Brazillonaire in its richness.
I might have more of it this evening. I’m in the middle of paper writing for the end of the semester right now, and lets be honest tea is the only thing that keeps me going. I had a bunch of pinapple oolong today as well.
More daily reviews to come!
Preparation
Finally got to try this one today. My lovely friend who works at Davids made me it iced with Aguave. She said the key is to brew it for only a minute, and I think she is right. It reminded me a lot of iced green teas that you buy in the bottle, but it was still really good. I would love to try it with some carbonation to see how it tastes.
Preparation
I think I am easy to please when it comes to Chai tea. And I really under appreciate/neglect them, so if anyone has any excellent chais they want to recommend I would be a happy panda :)
Got this one as a sample with my online order. I haven’t tried many of Davids chais outside of the seasonal ones. But this makes me want to try more, I just love the spice so much. It is a great thing to have on a winter’s night, and since it just snowed here I wish I had more.
Preparation
Thank you @Tea from Taiwan for this sample! I definitely enjoyed it.
The tea had a beautiful delicate yellow colour, and smooth milk oolong flavor. I found the more I steeped it the more the sweetness came out. I was able to do it 6 times, and could have probably kept going but then my leaves would have been a few days old. I am looking forward to trying the other samples you gave me.
Preparation
This is one of my favorite mates, and reminds me of morning because of its delicious orange juice aroma. You just take a whiff of this tea and the morning and its magic.
The taste is not for everyone. It can be very bitter (I don’t know if that is just because of how I steep it, but I like it either way) but still fruity. I would say I prefer it to Simply the Zest, but I think they are both on even footing to me. If I want something more refreshing than chocolate rocket in the morning I’ll have this.
Preparation
I just don’t love this one as much as everyone else. As far as oolongs go I think it’s just ok. I am trying to get through my tin of it so that I can get some The Skinny, Milk Oolong, and Vanilla Orchid.
I think it has a nice peachy taste, but it doesn’t seem as smooth or as fresh as other oolongs I like.
