330 Tasting Notes
Blast! I decided I wanted some tea before bed. I got some hot water from the hotel lobby, and came up to my room. Rifled through the stack of teabags I brought from home, and noticed that this tea said it was an herbal infusion. Grabbed and started steeping, then read the label.
Chocolate, mint, and Rooibos…sigh.
Rooibus makes me feel sick. So much for this sample :( And for my evening cuppa.
So it’s almost 2 am, and we just stopped for the night in Nashville, TN. I am unwinding before closing my eyes. I brought along some teabags for convenience. I got one bag of this with the Mighty Leaf order I got recently.
Unfortunately, I’m getting some of the wet washrag taste I get from so many herbal infusions. I’m not getting any of the citrus notes that the wrapper says I should.
Oh well…. I should get to sleep anyway! :)
Eeep. Went to make an after lunch bottle of tea, and choose this. I poured the pearls into my bottle, and realized that it was my last serving of the sample I got! No more #12 until I have worked through the POUND of Jasmine #9 that I ordered. If you have never ordered 16 oz of a tea before, please be informed… that’s a LOT of tea!
Jasmine #12 smells so lovely. I want a perfume that smells like it! And I love seeing the pearls unfurl as it steeps. If you have one, use a clear glass pot or tea bottle to enjoy the show.
Preparation
Went with the basics this morning. My Lock & Lock bottle and Keemun Rhapsody. Straight, no sweetener or cream. I polished off the sampler tin that I fill up for work. This is my last day of work until returning from an over 2-weeks-long vacation, so I’ll probably forget to bring some back for a week or two once I return!
I am still musing how to bring along some loose tea on my travels for the next 2 and a half weeks. I would hate to lose tea or have it get loose all in my bags! I will definitely bring the Lock & Lock, and I can put some loose tea in its lower compartment. Oooo… maybe I’ll put some in some small zip bags (of which I have a ton – but I’m not sure if they are technically food safe, they are those jewelry ones), dump out the Orange Dulce I didn’t like and stuff the bags in the canister I got for it. It’s a nice canister and would probably travel well. Hmmm… this merits thought.
Preparation
Last of the 4 from the sample pack. I needed another cuppa this morning, and I figured it would be good to finish up this sampler before I leave on vacation.
Smells good, is good iced. I’d definitely like to try another tea company’s rose tea, I find this one interesting. There’s something about this one that makes me not want this specific one again, but I’m not sure what. I definitely find it intriguing though.
Preparation
This polishes off the 4 bag sample of this tea. I managed to not log 2 of them. I drank those iced, and it wasn’t bad. I am just not a coconut person. Even though this isn’t bad, I just can’t get past my personal dislike of the texture of coconut – even though there’s no texture in a tea! – to actively like it. It’s not logical or reasonable, but there it is.
Preparation
Oh, my poor Captain. I steeped him too long. I am sorry for the abuse!
Brewed him up in my Lock & Lock, waited too long to sip, and then realized it was going to get bitter if I left the tea in the leaves. Poured it out into a disposable coffee cup. The indignity! My hippie heart aches.
Still dang drinkable though! Drinking straight this morning. I am determined to watch what I’m eating and drinking. I’ve lost 10 lbs in the last 2 months, and I don’t want to destroy that work!
Preparation
Not feeling so hot today, so I am lazing on the couch and watching a Law & Order SVU marathon.
Steeped in my Adagio IngenuiTea. I’ve been using it a lot lately, so I guess it’s going to pass the test. I like being able to make just a cup or two of tea and still be able to effectively let the water reach the leaves, and they have plenty of room to expand.
I do have a small glass teapot that I might let take over if I can find some way to pour and keep the leaves from pouring with it. I saw a picture of a glass teapot with a springy looking thing that went through the spout, hooking through the pouring end, and the other side was a spiral of wire that strained the leaves. I don’t know what it’s called to look for one, or if they are available without buying the teapot.
As to the tea… I just love Prince Vladimir so much! Wow, that sounds like a lovesick teen :D
It smells so good before the brewing and then once it’s brewed, it is smooth and sweet. Made a latte, which is my go-to for comfort.
My cup is empty now, and I kind of wish I had made a full pot, but that’s probably not a wise idea anyway when I am sick. But maybe later I will make some more later. I definitely will order a big tin of it later. As my reward for drinking the rest of my stock down, maybe :D
Preparation
Finally got my homemade matcha frappucino. I used this recipe: http://www.food.com/recipe/matcha-green-tea-smoothie-or-iced-latte-133955
But I didn’t have any vanilla syrup, so I dashed in a little bit of vanilla extract.
Upside:
I think it tastes pretty darn good!
Downside:
I have to clean up the mess. And ice cubes are hard to blend, I had a couple of whole ones and big chunks. Maybe I’ll used the crushed ice setting on my fridge for the next one.
I also had to dig an old unused spare McDonalds straw from a drawer to drink it. My bendy straws were too skinny to hack the bigger ice pieces.
All in all, I’d do it again. It’s cheaper, and I don’t have to leave my air conditioned house. And it was fun!
Sorry, me too. I’m allergic to it. Bean family. Too bad!
I’m Sorry :(
