2810 Tasting Notes
Its been a really long week. I am really, really glad it’s Friday.
I killed this off yesterday. I like this oolong, but next summer I think I’ll get Melon Oolong instead, as I like it a bit more than I like the Muscat.
The fruity oolong is a summer tea in my mind, so I’m glad that it’s sipped down before September.
I am starting to twitch. The cupboard is tiny, and I am ready for autumnal teas!
I could not sleep last night, so I throw myself into the arms of Malachi this morning.
Ughh.
I’m really starting to dream about the autumn cupboard. I’ll let myself order some teas in September, and I’m starting to twitch.
Lovely, lovely tea!
I still cannot make up my mind about this tea! Its got flavor complexity, but I’m not sure that the complexity works. I can’t say the flavors blend well.
Hmmmmm.
I wish I had better impressions to give, but the bottom line is I need to think more about this blend before I make up my mind.
I now have 15 teas in my cupboard. 15 teas! Eeeek! I cannot remember the last time the cupboard was so reigned in.
But I am very, very happy, because I can order some Autumn favorites in September without guilt and without stressing out from the size of the cupboard.
Plus, this smaller cupboard size is forcing me to really drink teas that would otherwise be abandoned.
I’m still not quite sure what I think of this blend. I’m still really not sure if the flavors work together, or even what the dominant flavor is. It’s a bit smokey, a bit medicinally herbal.
Hmmm. Its not terrible or anything, but I’m not sure I really like it.
That’s an insane amount of self-restraint. When I have less than 35-40 teas I honestly feel that there is NOTHING for me drink and panic. As I am now, with a couple of orders being hopelessly stuck somewhere in the bowels of China Post.
Let’s be honest- I bought this tea for it’s name and the tin. I am susceptible like that.
But! It was actually really nice. There was a sweetness to this blend that never overpowered, but rounded out the flavor. It was strong without being overpowering, and very, very easy to drink.
I’m not sure I’ll get it again, but I’m really glad to have tried it.
Sipdown!
So my final pot of this tea didn’t have the problems I’d noticed with previous cups- namely that it is a bit soapy and leaves the mouth feeling dry.
No, as is typical, I got the steep time right at this last moment. Grumble.
This was a decent Earl. Not an exceptional one, so I doubt I’ll get any more of this, but it was nice enough to have.
Sipdown!
A free afternoon stretches in front of me, and makes me very happy.
This tea, while nice, does not touch the glory that is Lupicia’s Melon Oolong. When this is done I shall just order the Melon going forward.
Still, grape teas are fun, and this one is refreshing on a hot day.
