Uh, so… oversteeped, this is still drinkable. (For 20 minutes…) It’ll never be my all-time favorite due to the smoky notes, but it’s a decent pick-me-up and really robust, flavorful, almost coffee-like (zero coffee, I assure you) and thick.

Buh-bye Eugene, it was nice to have you around a wee bit.

So, my body and I (up until now!) have had a love-hate relationship with oolong tea. I don’t know why, no one has really ever explained it to me, I just know that if I drink oolong – even without knowing it – I get sick within a minute. Violently nauseous, usually.

Someone along my path suggested I drink more oolong, because the reaction was flushing impurities out of my body. Bah. I resisted. Screw that.

Well, now in my new being, I’m saying yes. I’m trying everything. If it hurts, it’s painful, it feels weird or just “new”, I’m leaning into it. Sitting with it. Seeing how it feels. Playing with it even! So far, I’ve had massive breakthroughs because of it, albelt… well let’s just say I’ve had more change, and dramatically so, in the past few months than my entire life combined. And it’s mine. I own it. I’m also proud of it, and of me, for my courage.

So, this tea. I knew I had to try it, so I grabbed a cup. Just a cup. I knew i’d have to give it a few go-rounds before I could move on to other teas… but I had to really sit with this one. “Crap, there’s senna in it?” said my resistant brain. My mouth however said, “Cool, I’ll try it”.

I really enjoyed this (novel-worthy) tea, although I can’t remember why exactly. I just know that when I finished it, as I returned home from the library, I still hadn’t gotten sick.

Delicate, very fruity (even unsweetened), with only a touch of floral – just the way I like these kinds of “tropical” greens. Definitely one i’ll enjoy again, although nothing I’d go bonkers over to have in my cupboard. Just, solid.

Grabbed a mini-package of this in-store, as I try to stop in every time I hit the downtown public library. Fitting for my first review in what feels like ages…

Really had to search for this one through the entire DAVIDs catalog on here because it wouldn’t show up in search. Sigh. It’s just… okay. I can drink it easily, but it’s far from a favorite like, say, Hot Tropic.

I used to drink Shirley Temples when I was a kid like little else – it was my “treat” whenever I visited my mom at work. So, even though it’s been a while since I’ve had one (I occasionally still order one), this isn’t at all what I love about a Shirley Temple. Nope, nope, nope. There’s waaaaayy too much hibiscus, not enough cherry realness, and just… nope. Fizzy tis might work better for me (as a tea pop), but… nope. Did it iced, and, nope.

Iced, and, well, old.. this is nowhere near as amazing as when it was in it’s heyday, but it’s the first 52 Teas from the former company that still tastes palatable. Creamy and chocolaty even, although not a lot of nut going on other than some dryness. Still, a lovely iced tea treat!

I think I prefer this tea iced! The chili really comes through in the cold brew, almost (not quite) as much as Kapha from TeaGschenwnder. I’ll always remember JustJames’ “the burn! the burn!” from that one, and this is… similar. Hot steeped I didn’t get nearly enough spicey chili from this, but this cold steep? Divine. Perfect. Exactly what I wanted.

Um… so… not sure why I tried this, but it sounded like a good idea at the time. Made it iced, I knew it’s an old, old batch (likely two years old), I’ve had issues with all of the older 52 Teas tasting like cardboard. Sadly… this also tasted like cardboard. Root beer flavored cardboard, alas, not for me.

So hard to find this tea on here (didn’t think of spelling it this way).

Another one that I’ve had iced now, and I enjoy it considerably less than the Bellini from Tetley. (Iced: threw tea bags in a pitcher of purified water and left it overnight).

There’s something oily about this one, and I can’t put my finger on it. Coconut, perhaps? No idea, but I can see it in the brew, as well as feel it when I drink it. Almost like the consistency of peach juice, or castor oil… which I’m sadly quite familiar with and not terribly fond of.

Not getting a ton of pina colada out of this either… maybe a tropical type fruit, with some coconut oily in here. Sure, I’ll drink it, it’s definitely not going to waste, but it’s something I won’t stock up on again.

Gosh I love this stuff. Made up a huge batch iced (just threw in teabags into purified water and left it in my fridge overnight), and with a touch of sweetener, I guzzled it down like it was candy from the Universe. Truly, yum! Upping the rating, just because it’s more of a junk food tea than anything soul-infusing, yet still, I’ve reached for this often the past few days.
