144 Tasting Notes
I know nothing about oolongs. There was much guesswork done here. It was not a total failure!
1st steep – 2 minutes: It smells very peachy and a little nutty. It actually smells basically just like the dry leaves. The taste is a little weak, I think next time I’m going to do a longer steep or add more tea (this time I used 1.5tsp/12oz). It’s a little mouth drying but tastes peachy and nice and smooth.
2nd steep – 3 minutes 30 seconds: I think this would be a good studying tea. Still quite peachy but I would like it to be more full-bodied. Much less drying this time.
3rd steep – 5 minutes: Weeeaaak! Definitely using more tea next time.
Preparation
This tea is very pleasant! The cherry blossoms are definitely the main flavour here, very cherry-y without being artificial. There are so many kinds of tea in this tea! I completely guessed at the temperature and time (175, 2 minutes) and I think next time I’m gonna go for 165, and still 2 minutes. Because it had a bit of the same taste that Mom’s Apple Pie always had for me before I realized that I was burning the leaves…
Even though it definitely tastes like cherry, it doesn’t really make me think of cherry blossoms or Japan. I don’t think it’s quite delicate/light enough. It’s like a 6.5 on the delicateness scale (10=most delicate). Yes, that’s a thing. I can’t taste the coconut at all but I have a feeling it’s there to add some richness or something? This is another tea that doesn’t get weird as it cools, which is something I appreciate! Also something about this reminds me of apple juice?
Hahaha, can you tell this tea confused me?!
Preparation
The main things in this tea are the coconut and the lavender. I love coconut in anything but not so much with lavender. In fact when it comes to flowers in general I would rather smell them than taste them. But when this is hot the coconut really comes through and there’s just a bit of lavender in the background and it’s very sweet and nice! It’s when the tea starts to cool that the lavender kind of replaces the coconut in the foreground. Unfortunately I was drinking this while playing video games with my roommate so I only got a few sips in before it cooled. Ah well, still very nice.
Finished this today as part of my quest to… finish off the teas that I only have a little bit of. It smells and tastes very energizing, especially for an herbal! The colour is such a nice bright pinky red. It’s tart and sweet and a little thin. I think it would be great iced! Too bad I just finished off the bag…
Preparation
I did a 30 second steep this time instead of 3 minutes and it was soooo much better! I could taste the strawberry and it complimented the white tea perfectly. Good for many steeps too. It’s delicate but not very complex. Sweet and lovely!
