Today is turning into a Liquid Proust kind of day. This next one I drank is from a Mystery Grab Bag I bought from him a way’s back. It was labeled only as Wild Indian Green Tea. Figuring I haven’t had or heard of great results brewing Indian teas gongfu, I westerned this one, with 3g in my 12 oz kyusu. After the first steep, the leaves smelled like crackers. Sounds a little weird, but I’ve experienced this with a few other greens as well.
The taste was at least in part aligned with the aroma – the first steep tasted like crackers with sweet grass on top of them. In the next couple steeps, I also tasted a bit of a citrus note to it, maybe lemon or grapefruit. Not really a kind of tea I would choose to buy, but sipping it down was not at all unpleasant.
