4843 Tasting Notes
I thought I’d brew some more of this so that I could sit down and write a review of it for the Tea Review Blog. This time, I used a little more leaf, as the last time I had this I felt that the tea was a bit softer than I wanted. I feel that this tea definitely benefits from a little extra leaf.
The flavor is nice. Certainly not my favorite white tea, or even my favorite tropical tea, but it’s still pretty good. The pineapple and coconut seem to meld very well here – almost to the point where it is difficult to discern one from the other… rather, they seem to become “one fruit” if that makes sense.
Preparation
Yum! This tea seems to get better with each time I brew it. I guess it’s growing on me.
The ginger has a pleasant kick to it, not extraordinarily spicy, just a nice warmth and a little peppery kick. The peach is sweet and delicious, but that sweetness does not overwhelm the cup. I can also taste the cinnamon here and it plays well with the ginger.
A very nice, well rounded blend of tastes.
Preparation
Since I’m in the process of cooking dinner, I thought I’d serve something on ice. I recently procured this tea from my local Whole Foods.
I was a bit hesitant to “brew” it in cold water – but it does dissolve quickly.
The flavor is true to a good quality Genmaicha tea – just cold! I don’t typically drink my genmaicha teas cold so it’s rather unusual for me in that respect. But I’m finding it quite enjoyable. No sweetening necessary, like genmaicha it has a natural sweetness to it that is a pure delight.
I’m really liking it!
Preparation
My order from Lupicia arrived today. I’m thrilled!
Before I begin with my tasting notes, I want to talk a bit about grapefruit green tea. Last year, I went to Tohono Chul Park (in Tucson, AZ), and of course I had to dine in their tea room. I had their high tea, and I selected their grapefruit green tea to accompany my meal. It was absolutely delightful. Since that time, I’ve been looking for a grapefruit green tea that is as delightful. So far, I haven’t yet found one (I did contact the supplier of that tea. They did get back to me to tell me when they would sell locally. However, I live in Washington state, not AZ, so I couldn’t attend their local sale. I asked them if I might procure from them via mail, but they have not replied to that request)
So… that is why I ordered from Lupicia – in the hopes that their Grapefruit Green tea might be as good as I remember the tea being in Tucson…
Alas… it is not. That is not to say it is not a good tea, it is decent. A fresh, grassy taste to the leaves which is the strongest profile of the cup. The grapefruit is a very pleasing flavor, not overwhelmingly sour but pleasantly tart, with a nice citrus-y aftertaste. I like. But still, my search must go on!
Preparation
I must say that as I continue to drink this tea, the flavors develop significantly. I like it much better now than I did when I first took a sip.
The second infusion of the leaves is quite a bit softer in flavor – but I am enjoying it, and I don’t know if I could tell you if I prefer the stronger flavor of the first cup or the softer taste of this one. What I can tell you is that I’m liking it the more I drink it and I think that with my next entry into my tealog about this tea, I shall have to up the ranking a bit.
Now that I feel human again (thanks Allergi-TEA), I can move on to some Simple Leaf. I just love this tea! I just got it yesterday – but – it is HEAVENLY.
Nutty notes, cocoa, roasty/smoky notes… simply divine. I’m off to write a review of it for the Tea Review Blog!
Preparation
A bit of a backlog here – I started the morning with a cup of my Allergi-TEA. My allergies are in full swing. I wake up with my eyes swollen, my throat feeling a bit like sandpaper, and coughing, sneezing, and just basically miserable. My Allergi-TEA really helps me feel human again. Soothes the throat, calms the coughing, and my eyes don’t itch any more. For that alone, I am giving it a perfect score this time.
Preparation
Well, it’s getting late, so it’s time to switch to some caffeine free tea! This is the last of my package of this tea… I have enjoyed it.
This is definitely a rooibos blend that benefits from an extended brew time. I allowed it to steep for 10 minutes.
The flavor of the cinnamon is pleasant. Not a strong, spicy presence, more of a sweet cinnamon-y taste. I am not sure if this is because of the rooibos – perhaps the natural sweetness of the rooibos brings out the sweeter notes of the cinnamon?
The fig in this blend is a bit softer than I would like it to be – I love figs! But I really like the combination of fig and cinnamon. A decent cup.
Preparation
After relishing every drop of four very flavorful infusions of my Oolong tea, it was time to move on to something new…
My Art of Tea order also arrived this afternoon. This is one of two teas that I ordered. I recently tasted Tulsi in another blend and really liked it, so I just couldn’t resist trying this one too.
I like it – it has a very strong floral presence. The bergamot really seems to highlight some of the characteristics of the rose.
I think that next time I brew this tea, I am going to increase the amount of tea, and perhaps adjust the brewing time and temperature a bit. The flavors just feel a bit “off” to me – like it needs a bit more… of something. I don’t know what. I’m enjoying it, but, not as much as I think I could… so I think that I need to experiment a bit with it.
Preparation
I am watching a movie with my young one and enjoying a cup of this at the moment. The berry flavor is pleasant – sweet with just a hint of tart. The tea base of white and green teas is very soft, leafy (vegetative) flavor. It is very subtle and the blueberry taste is the most prominent of this cup.
Yum!
