514 Tasting Notes
Thirteenth tea sampled from TTB-C
I forgot that I tried this one already until I saw my tasting note here already.
This time around, I noticed the orange more than the chocolate. strange how that is. But one thing is the same: It’s still very very bitter.

Yet another tea containing ginger and I didn’t notice at all. I also didn’t notice that there was rooibos in it.
It tastes like a berry and hibiscus mix, no spice at all. I generally like fruit and hibiscus blends, but I prefer straight-up hibiscus. As far as blends go, this wasn’t bad, though It doesn’t live up to it’s description.
I expected that my husband would like it, so after drinking about half of my cup, I gave him the rest. I was correct, he did like it. He said he rated it 95, then 98, then as he finished it he contemplated giving it even a 100. There are only 2 servings left in the bag, and since it doesn’t look like a popular blend here, hopefully no one will miss it from the box if I keep it for him :)

Tee aus Deutschland! Wie aufregend! :p
So, I had to try this tea because anything with German words all over it always lures me in. I’ve dabbled in several languages, but one day, I was listening to a German song and all of the sudden I realized that it was the most beautiful language I’ve ever heard. Years later, the love hasn’t died. ( in case anyone is curious, the particular song that started it all can be heard here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvSgCtndxAA )
Yeah, so, really superficial reason to try a tea. Why should a caramel rooibos from Germany be different or better than any other? Much like coconut, caramel is a flavor that I love in everything except tea. In tea, it leaves a most unpleasant aftertaste. The caramel in this tea really wasn’t so strong. I got the burnt sugar flavor that Fiddling noted. However, I still got hints of the caramel aftertaste. Nothing unbearable, but it ruins the experience some nonetheless. I let my husband finish the cup and he loved it (he rates it about 92).
Woe to me that almost everyone else can enjoy the best dessert flavors in tea and I get to have the rare disagreeable palate. boooo.

There’s ginger in this? And I didn’t even notice?? far out.
Ginger does have its time and place, but when it’s out of place it’s about the worse flavor ever to me.
I am going to leave this tea unrated because I think that it is a good tea for what it’s supposed to be, but it’s not my thing.
I will say, though, that it is the best tea from the teabox so far. I would drink it again if someone offered, but I’d never brew it for myself. The mint, anise, and cinnamon stand out the most. It has a definite spicy bite to it that tickles and burns ever so slightly on the way down and this is why I don’t like it. Same reason I don’t like Winter Fire from Butiki, but the mint in this one makes it more tolerable.

Ninth tea sampled from TTB-C
This tea tasted like honeybush mostly. I like honeybush, so no complaints there, but I didn’t taste anything resembling chocolate or vanilla. After several sips, I almost got hints of strawberry, but it may have been my imagination.
I’d like to assume that the flavors in this tea were sharper when it was new, but as it is now, it’s just a sweet honeybush tea. oh well.

Eighth tea sampled from TTB -C
Back to really nasty tea experiences again. Not having a lot of luck with this box so far, but I’m having fun exploring new faces that I didn’t know i could make at my tea (^o^).
Oh wow, this tea is awful! cherry? where? its not even sweet imo. It doesn’t even taste like sencha or any green tea. The closest it comes to tasting like a green anything would be maybe, as shadowfall suggested, mowed grass with addition that it has been sitting in the mower bag for a few months getting musty and moldy.
I used 1tsp in an 8oz mug, steeped for 2.5 min at 170deg, so it can’t be that I over leafed or burnt it. . .

seventh tea sampled from TTB – C
First tea from the box so far thats halfway decent. It’s definitely heavier on the spice than on the honey, and thats fine by me as strongly flavored honey teas have not been my cuppa in the past. The rooibos is definitely tamed by the spices, so I think that even those who dislike rooibos might like this tea.
As far as the bigger picture of tea preferences goes, this is not a stellar cup of tea. Just an average drinkable cup of tea, winning only brownie points here relative to the first nasty teas that I sampled last night. lol.
My husband, on the other hand, loves it so I’m keeping what’s left from the box for him (just a few more servings).
ETA: There is a very slight aftertaste that I could do without, but not too bad.

sixth tea sampled from TTB-C (and last one for tonight)
I am still on a quest to find a chocolate tea that I love. There have been a few that I like well enough, so there is hope. I have had my eye on this one for sometime. it has a catchy list of ingredients and a lot of positive reviews.
Relative to all the teas that I have sampled this evening, this was the second-most palatable (though, that doesn’t say much for it).
I have had two other mint and chocolate pairings in the past that I would take over this. My quest continues…
Preparation
Fifth tea sampled from TTB-C
I gave up on the fruit flavored teas for tonight and decided to go for something completely different. I’ve been curious about this tea for some time. Tempted at times to purchase or swap for it, but always hesitated because I don’t much like genmaicha. But here it was in front of me, so I figured, what the heck?
No surprise, but I didn’t like it. Why? Because of the genmaicha of course. I thought, maybe, in a blend it would turn out differently. But, I could hardly detect that this was a blend at all. It tasted almost like unflavored genmaicha, but there was something else that mellowed the roastiness. Not a flavor I could put my finger on, just something. I’d rather have true plain genmaicha than this if I had to choose.

Ah gee, I am not having any luck finding a good fruit flavored tea tonight. So after the fruity-car-air-freshener tea I get Play-Doh! yep, play doh. (I see that moraiwe also detected the play-doh, glad that it’s not just me :p ).
