894 Tasting Notes
Hmm, I seem to have not awesome luck with Butiki teas. I’m not sure if this aged poorly or got contaminated (doubtful), but steeping, all this smelled like was white pepper and savoury broth, and on the palate, I’m getting predominantly pepper with a hint of that tanginess that grapefruit has. If I didn’t have grapefruit on the brain I probably wouldn’t have associated that tang with it.
Thank you Janelle for the sample. I have one cup left and I think I’ll probably pass it along to someone else.
Flavors: Broth, Peppercorn, Tangy
Preparation
This is an alright flavoured green tea. It has a distinct mango flavour and a bit of a tang that reminds of me orange juice (from concentrate, not fresh stuff). Sadly, the green tea base doesn’t shine through too much, and I’m finding myself pickier and pickier about flavoured greens.
There’s nothing wrong with this – it may be getting a bit old but it hasn’t aged too badly. I think it’s mostly just not to my taste any more.
Flavors: Mango, Orange, Rose, Tangy
Preparation
I made this grandpa style in my travel mug the other day. It was delicious, but I think my infatuation with this tea is fading a bit, which is just as well, as I’m running low and it’s discontinued. It’s still an amazing combination of oolong flavour and berry fragrance and I will be sad when it’s gone.
Preparation
I wanted so badly to try this when I first saw reviews of it, and Sil was kind enough to send me some.
I think I may have built this up a bit in my head, because I ended up not being all that impressed with it. It’s an alright creamy lemon tea, but the black base is kind of meh, and it lacks that tanginess that I expect if something is supposed to be both buttermilk and lemon flavoured.
I’m really glad I had a chance to try this, and also really glad that I didn’t end up placing an order specifically to get my hands on this (shipping + exchange rate would have been painful.) Having tea friends who share is so great :)
Flavors: Creamy, Lemon
Preparation
An enjoyable white tea. Notes of cucumber and flowers. A bit sweet and juicy. I steeped this for about 4 minutes and it was pretty bland when hot, but a very nice fullness to the flavour developed as the cup cooled.
Flavors: Cucumber, Floral, Sweet
