I bought this when I was still a pu-erh neophyte but somehow in my ignorance I made a good choice. It’s very smooth and clean, and I don’t think I’ve had such a pronounced black cherry flavor in a ripe before. I like to drink this after a good long steep to bring out all of that cherry essence.
Preparation
As the note says, a lucky find. The liquor is clean and smooth—not fishy at all—which allows the spearmint and mushroom flavor to shine through. A little bit of cherry rounds out the robust profile. A really excellent 10-year-old Shu for everyday drinking.
Preparation
Drinking this for the first time and impressed by the reliability of the CNNP mark. The cake is smooth and the leaves are relatively small which makes the unmolested cake look like a piece of beautiful marble. I’m immediately struck by a light effervescence in the broth that tingles my mouth and adds a pleasant dimension to the sweet brew. A little cherry tobacco aftertaste rounds out the sensation. An affordable, quality pu-erh that will only get better.
Like the other reviews I doubt that this tea deserves its premium name. It is better than most of the black teas out there but it falls way short of the really premium ones that I have encountered. Still worth drinking what I have but this is not a tea that I would use to show off a really good black tea to somebody.
Preparation
Steepster has gone retarded on me and won’t let me add a picture, almost gave up on adding the tea as I wasn’t sure if it was worth it. This was a very whelming tea, I mean it’s a golden tip dian hong which always warms my heart but it really wasn’t anything special which is sad. :( Oh well its drinkable and I’ve had worse but I won’t be buying this one again.
